ia m really sorry that the show is ending, i have enjoyed all of the seasons, its one of my favorite. I wish that they would keep it going, if the final shows can be delayed, that would be great. ihave enjoyed Monk’s dry humor, its marvelous. if the show discontinues, i will watch all of the re-runs all over again.

Sorry for the double post (wish I could edit my last post) just wanted to add that White Collar is a great new show and while I’m sad to see Monk go am liking White Collar — will already be looking forward to its 2nd season although season 1 is still airing — and the new season of Psych in January. As I said Monk was not canceled its been 8 years — eventually writers run out of good ideas and just continuing the show for the sake of it makes no sense. This by no means is a cancelation — Monk has a proper ending what’s more it was announced the 8th year would be the final season while the 7th season was still airing.

We all knew this day was going to come someday — at least the show will have a decent ending with the mystery of Trudy’s murder finally resolved.

The show was not canceled — there is a difference between a series being canceled and coming to a proper conclusion. If Monk were ending prematurely then yes that would be a sign of cancelation (ABC Family’s Kyle XY was sadly canceled after season 3 — no season 4 and the third season ends with a big cliffhanger; USA Network’s Monk though has a decent series finale — I hear in the final episode Monk will solve his wife Trudy’s murder).

Please don’t spread misinformation of the show’s ending and suggest its demise — do not say the show was canceled when it wasn’t. The show has been on the air for 8 seasons — after 100+ episodes the writers must have been struggling with ideas for new story lines (eventually you run out of ideas) and the cast eventually I’m sure would like to move on to other projects. It is sad to see the show end but its been on the air this long. At least it is getting a decent ending. Monk is an Emmy award winning show — USA Network has done right by this show all along and has so far done right by its other shows — they have a history of giving good shows a chance to run long enough that even if they have somewhat low ratings the show has a chance to improve over time. Unlike ABC and ABC Family which are becoming the new NBC (NBC used to cancel shows too often but is improving and now ABC-ABC Family are becoming the new NBC in that regard) and USA has remained committed to its programming.

Will miss Monk!

Monk is a great show. I too discovered it about 2 yrs ago and have tvo it and watch it with my family. YES, I was able to watch it as a family…unlike all those programs with so much sex in them that you look forward to the commercials LOL. I’m not a prude, but MONK, HOUSE, PHYSIC and CHUCK are the three shows I look forward too. They are funny without having to use words that are not necessary or apporpriate. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL THESE SHOWS.

I discovered MONK in 2007 and have faithfully watched every week since. I go to the library and check-out each season from time to time
The more I watch it, the more I find habits of myself [ NOT to the extremes of his ].
I will watch to the end…..and PRAY for a reconcideration of the network Executives to bring back “Good clean progamming” to their lineup.

I’ve loved Tony Shalaub ever since he was on “Wings”—-he was so darn sexy in those tight fitting levis. But, as Monk—I just simply can’t accept the weekend without my beloved “MONK” I can’t understand why the show is getting cancelled unless Tony wants to do other projects.I can’t stand “HOUSE”—why can’t they cancel him instead? I am a pyschotherapist, & as such, my enjoyment & admiration is twofold. Watching Tony Shahoub (Monk) struggle with his dysfunctions is both poignant & funny. I am considering (sort of) starting a group for my friends & colleagues who will be going through withdrawal when Monk goes off the air. Please keep him on as long as possible as we are not ready for him to abandon us.

I love them both. Sharona was personality plus. I miss the edge she added to the show. She had that “something” I can’t quite find in my mousy personality, and I loved watching her. She was just right. But Natalie is adorable – a different character completely. She is gentleness and charm. She is milder than Sharona. We need that on TV. It portrays the way many people really are (or would like to be). How do you handle someone like Monk? Or any difficult person? Take a lesson from Natalie. But I do miss Sharona.

Monk has gotten old. It’s time to wrap it up and solve the long time big mysteries ans find his wife’s killer.
In the early episodes, Monk was a likable guy, now he’s a jackass. He’s rude, mysogynistic and not as smart as he was. Time to end the show.
Psych is a much better show now anyway.

Here’s a thought for USA Network. Why don’t you make an occasional movie with Monk in the future. Remember Columbo and so other shows back in the day. After they were cancelled, they often came back with movies. This could be done and maybe it would not be as expensive as a series. This way from time to time we can continue to see Monk. USA give this some thought.

I don’t have cable due to the ecomony , but I ‘ve been watching the reruns on my
local fox 28, on saturday afternoons, and no matter where i am I always watch it
every week. I plan my Saturday’s around the show.
sorry, i didn’t start out watching it from the beginning, but one day i called my
teenage son who lives with his father, and he said he was watching the show, and
i said that’s a dumb show, he said if you took the time to watch it all of it, you would
love it. so i did and he was so right!!!!
thank you for bring a great family show to tv—– please reconsider bring him back ,
maybe they could find out that Monk’s wife was with a another woman, and she
wasn’t burn up but in a coma somewhere, and nobody knew her name.
that way Monk could have his wonderful wife back and still solve murders

Why!? Why!? Why!? Everyone I know enjoys this show! Tony Shaloub’s portrayal of a OCD patient has my approval and the approval of many other OCD patients. He’s got the gestures and tone of voice down to a science. The show’s fabulous and the characters are great! The acting is superb and believable. With all the ”reality” shows on the air, it’s refreshing to see a program that deals with a real affliction, in both a humorous and serious manner, with wonderful storylines, as well. Please think again about its cancellation. Whichever way it goes, though, I wish the entire cast the very best in all their future endeavors.

If Tony Shaloub is ready to move on I have to respect that; however, if the network believes “it comes down to dollars and cents”, then it needs to find new accountants with creative financing ‘cents’ [sense] and it will find a way to keep this incredible show on air. I won’t be redundant by repeating all of the yea sayers above, BUT, it truly is a creative, informative and family oriented program that would be criminal to cancel. Mr. Monk and Natalie make a great team [hilarious; and Natalie teaches us patience for sure!!] and Stottlemeyer and Disher display loyal friendship even through frustrating moments. So air it on a different night in a time slot that works! Common people – - because “you” couldn’t make it work – - “this is what happened”.

I agree with the previous posters. This is one of the very few shows that is void of sexual innuendos and clean enough for kids to watch. We enjoy it so much that we always look forward to Fridays and the Monk marathons on New Years Days! Family Guy, Two and a Half men, not to mention all of the crime shows, are inapprpriate for young children to watch yet these are the shows that thrive instead of something as wonderful and fun as Monk. Just terrible!

can”t another smart network pick up Monk? This is the best show on television and it is just not fair to see it end at season eight. If anything it should end on after a perfect season ten. There is so much chemistry to the show. I have studied Radio/TV and journalism, and this show is good for so many reasons: quality actors/actresses; good script writing, and just overall amazing productions. Plus it has helped our obsessive compulsive community see how one terrific person deals with a very real problem: unresolved conflict. Along the way other civic, personal and varied issues are also addressed in a safe and sane way.

MORE MONK. COME ON GET WITH IT.

Just when something worth watching comes along it gets canceled. This is a wonderful and creative show with great characters. When basic viewership is down it seems ludicris to cancel something with a avid following. This program has intelligence-by all means let’s get something new that’s not to replace it.

PLEASE………don’t cancel Monk. It is one of the very few programs that has drama and comedy that everyone in the family can watch. REAL comedy is something that can make people laugh until they cry without having to use foul language, naughty suggestions, sexual scenes, or ridicule. Monk meets that criteria in a big way. My very favorite Monk was the one with the monkey. I laugh every time I remember Monk trying to sell the house he was only renting. Tony has given Monk life in a way no one else could.

With the stresses that this nation faces day to day, we need a program that helps us forget for an hour each week. I hope the “powers that be” will change their mind, and give us many more seasons of my favorite detective.

“Monk” is such a great show! It is very original and the cast is awesome. This show never disappoints. I am so sad and upset that this will be the last season of the show. I always have looked forward to sitting down and watching another great episode every week very years….. USA network and/or NBC…please continue to keep Monk full episodes online so that all the devoted viewers can still have a good laugh once in awhile.

Monk is one of the best shows on TV. The whole cast is brilliant which doesn’t
happen often. Silly reason to stop a show, what about some stimulus money,

I have only recently discovered the monk episodes on austar tv in Australia in the last six months. I had never seen the show before. I can’t wait to see every episode I can. It is so unique and different and to learn that the show will be axed because of costs was a very sad thing indeed. Im sure Australian fans and those around the world will miss the show like myself and my wife. It is by far the best show on tv and paid tv. The star who plays Monk is such a talented actor and brings forth the plight of many with OCD. All the other cast in the show are excellent and the production is brilliant. Well done for the great entertainment and all concerned in the show should be proud of what you have achieved.

Its and outrage that this show is being cancelled but it would have been better if the producer Tony Shaloub would have come out and said that he is thankful for everything that has happend but ufornunately the show has to go to a premature ending due to insufficient funds but we will be airing one last season. The thing i have been waiting for is who killed trudy and what going to happen to Monk in the Future.

The end of great tv has now been inacted. My entire family watches MONK, we love the show, the plots, the characters, the cast of people. Everyone enjoys having a program to look forward to each week and MONK is our program. I agree with the previous blogs, Monk is a modern day classic, in the same catagory as I Love Lucy, Honeymooners, Andy Griffith and the more modern classics like Frasier and Sienfeld. However, Monk is also extremely helpful in that people with OCS can see that they are not just a person with a problem but a person who can have a life with a job and friends. My husband won’t miss an episode of MONK, its the one thing he looks forward to at the end of a hard week of work. Please, find a way to continue this program, many families watch it and to be honest Psych just doesn’t measure up to MONK. We talk about it with fellow workers, friends and neighbors. If Monk is not on TV what will we watch for family entertainment on Fridays.

I am so upset that Monk is being cancelled! I am faithful viewer and have been since the start in 2002. It is the ONE and ONLY show on television that my entire family can sit and enjoy. with all the junk on tv its nice to be able to have a show that is so entertaining – i mean LOL funny that i can watch with my children and is relavant to us as parents as well as our teenage children. wonderful show. it will be greatly missed and the most dissappointing of all is that usa hasnt even been running the show in reruns of the show all summer! why is that?! i mean will there not be anymore monk marathons?! how about just selling it to a network that can afford it? its just too good a show to end up at the bottom of a pile in tv history!
