CBS has yet to renew the Friday night vampire series but that’s not stopping Moonlight executive producer Joel Silver and the show’s writers. They’re already plotting Moonlight’s second season.
While promoting the upcoming Speed Racer film, Silver talked about Moonlight’s prospects for a second year on CBS. He said, “We’re hopeful… I mean, the next episode goes on next Friday night [April 25th], which is a really great episode. It starts out, Mick [Alex O'Loughlin] is still human, but then he has to go back to being a vampire. And I have three more really strong episodes. And I hope that it does come back, because we have a whole plan for next year that’s fantastic.”
The network has been on the fence about renewing Moonlight though it seems like the chances are good. Silver says that he’s scheduled to meet with CBS programming executives to talk about the show’s future. “Well, we’re going to go in, as a matter of fact, next week for a pitch meeting to tell them what we’re going to do next year.”
Based on what the programmers hear and the performance of the new episodes, they’ll decide whether Mick St. John will return to walk the streets of Los Angeles next fall. CBS announces its 2008-09 schedule in mid-May. Stay tuned!

pleaseplease bring back moonlight
I guess these so called executives don’t want an award winning, already having a huge following of fans, incredible show for their own. I guess they think the garbage they’re spewing out now is good enough. ANOTHER “reality” show or a remake of a show from 10 – 20 years ago? Really? Gee, that’s original. Might as well just rerun the original shows and say, well, some of the viewers weren’t around when it first aired but that’s alright because we’re going to air it again. Why on earth would we want an original show? What a bunch of morons. Bring back Moonlight!!! VSRRR!!!

Bring Moonlight Back. It is a great show and I know a lot of people that watched it and loved it and would watch it again. And if you aren’t going to bring it back then stop re-playing Season 1 because it justs makes me want to watch it even more. I LOVE the show and it could get really good. BRING IT BACK! I am so sick of reality TV. I have enough reality in my life. I watch Vampire Diaries but it doesn’t come anywhere near Moonlight in my top list of shows. Please please please bring it back.
Bring back moonlight, either a second season or as a movie as long as it comes back and i can buy the DVD release and see it at the cinemas or on the TV.

OK. I gave Three Rivers a try! Even with Alex O! ….the show is FORGETTABLE! Just a PALE IMPERSONATION of every other hospital/dr/medical show that’s ever been!! Nothing exciting about it!! So, NOW can you put MOONLIGHT BACK ON??!! ALEX is an EXCITING actor w/GREAT ABILITY and CHARISMA!! And MOONLIGH would DIFINITELY DRAW ON the TWILIGHT/TRUEBLOOD phenom!! I KNOW you’ve been hearing about ALL THE “COUGARS” WHO ARE WATCHING AND LOVING THEM!!! You guys hop on EVERY OTHER BANDWAGON, ie: reality tv! Why not this one! At LEAST my friends and I would WATCH MOONLIGHT! I stopped watching Survivor after the 1st season!! Reality tv got BORING REAL FAST!! I DON’T WATCH IT AT ALL NOW!! I love moonlight Please began it back for season 2 love the show and the man that play the vampire Alex O’Loughlin is so hott !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE IT.
My daughter and I both loved watching this series please put back on.All other programs on tv are not any good to watch.Either sex, police shows surviver, lost, nothing worth watching.
I just finished watching Season 1 of Moonlight on DVD and I really liked it. I am disappointed CBS canceled it without giving it a second season to work out some of the little kinks and possibly develop the characters more to enable the writers to create more meaningful plot threads. I hope some other network picks it up, I believe it has a lot of potential so bring it back!!!
