Trauma: NBC Ends Season Early, Gone for Good?

TraumaThe saga of NBC’s medical disaster series continues.

Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.

Back in October, NBC indicated they weren’t ordering any additional episodes of Trauma beyond the initial 13 episode order, effectively cancelling the series. Then, in the wake of the failure of The Jay Leno Show, they ordered seven more episodes to fill primetime space.

When Trauma returned to the NBC schedule after a three month hiatus, the ratings were even worse than they were back in November. If the execs weren’t happy with the ratings before, they were very likely regretting their decision to order additional installments.

According to the Futon Critic, NBC has now cut their additional episode order from seven to five installments. That brings the season total to 18 episodes.

The last episode of the season, and almost certainly the series, will air on April 26th. No word yet if the producers adapted episode 18 so that it could serve as a series finale or if viewers will be left hanging.

What do you think? Are you sorry that Trauma’s episode order has been cut? Are you holding onto hope that it will be back for season two?

I think NBC has us all on ignore. They obviously could care less about all the feedback on Trauma. Well, that caring less is a 2-way street. Besides, there isn’t anything worth watching on that channel, in my opinion!

All these posts are wonderful.
Do you think anyone at NBC sees them?
And if so, does it make a difference ?

I think they need to cancel the rating system. It’s obviously faulty since they’re always keeping the garbage & canceling the entertaining shows.

It is phenomenal to me taht the dweebs over at NBC could treat a program the way they treated Trauma and then wonder why the ratings sucked. They left the fans waiting in limbo WITHOUT A WORD, virtually NO promotion whatsoever, causing most to lose interest and at best not know when to tune in! And what happened to the final episode??? These NBC execs have out done themselves this past year, I hope they get it together.

For the first time in along time I was finally anticipating a great time watching a TV show on Monday nights – in fact on any night of the week. Trauma was (and still is – if NBC brings it back) it! The characters were great – good interaction between each partner on the job. The scenerios were perfect too – at least they depicted real life situations that could happen to anyone (as close to reality {then some reality shows} and action packed to boot). The writers did a great job in that respect. If NBC has a head on their shoulder they will bring it back. . . . . . . .

Trauma cast (and writers) you are great!!!

I agree….when did they bring it back for the last few episodes? People need to be made aware of the shows comebacks…take off some or all of the reality shows and leave the good ones alone.
