I loved this show, I still wonder where it went or what happened, what do we have to do to get it back? I would even pay for it if just released on dvd. There are too many badly written shows that stay on, this one was great and then cancelled?!? Get a grip Hollywood!

If a show must be canceled, the network should at least wrap up the storyline. Canceling shows before completing the story line has caused me to not want to watch new shows.

Everyone that I have talked to that had watched this show absolutely loved it and is still talking about the disappointment of it’s cancellation. It certainly did have everything. The John Amsterdam character was wonderful in this role. I especially loved the time travel aspect. It was so very well done it was easy to accept. I hope another channel picks this up. Perhaps USA? They have great shows already and it would fit right in their schedule.

I wanted too see this Show from the very begining
but i only saw one add for it and forgot the slot
that ad was like a month ahead of time
and then nothing

Another great show bites the dust! What a shame. I know, it’s about how many people watch it, but if you curse it from the beginning by scheduling it in the worst time slots, what do you expect? How many inane night-time doctor soaps do we have to endure?—or as I do, find something else to do. Of all the cop shows on TV, this one is unique, thoughtful, entertaining, and creatively complicated. (Maybe too intelligent for the masses?) Talk about depth. Unlike the preachy, agenda-driven Law&Order and its clones, N. Amsterdam found a way to include life, love, race, family, alcoholism, etc. in a very natural way that wasn’t ever in your face. There are so many places New Amsterdam could take us, but alas . . .

Just finished watching the last of these episodes. Loved it and can’t believe it got cancelled when these boring “Doctor” shows continue to pollute nighttime TV, i.e. Grays, Bones — I mean how many times are you going to try to cure these doctors?? New Amsterdam is a 2 in 1. You see the crime get solved and at the same time are connected to another era. Would be great if it was brought back.

This show had a Highlander / Forever Knight type of story line to it. I though it was an amazing show. I hope they bring it back, or that they find a new home for this as well as Mental! It really sucks when they put something really great in a poor time slot or don’t advertise it enough. Then cancle it just as it gains a following. KILL GLEE, that stupid show has gotten soooo much hype its not even funny and it SUCKS!!!!

Also, Sci-Fi is owned by NBC. Are they kidding us by thinking they are doing anyone a favor in filling their Friday night line-up with canceled shows like “Moonlight”, etc? HELLO??? If we are Sci-Fi channel buffs, we have already devoured every episode of any of these shows – and are still mad at you for canceling them on your “regular” network! I am thankful I have DVR – or else I would never have been able to finish watching “Charlie Jade”, when, after a week on Friday night, they put it to 3AM on Tuesdays. Because they felt it was too sophisticated for sci-fi viewers? PLEASE bring on sophistication like that 24/7 you morons!

I loved the show as well – but the problem today is that idots run the networks, and they have no vision beyond the end of their greedy noses – and those are stuck in their wallets. Always looking for the next “instant hit” – and to hell with the fans who actually become devoted to a show! Too bad they don’t remember the phenomenon of a little show called “Star Trek” – canceled early, but went on to be a multi-billion dollar franchise! I happened to stop at this site and learned of New Amsterdam’s cancellation. This show is one of the best written, best produced, intelligent programs of its type. It is certainly better than Medium. The immortality theme is heightened by its emphasis on his humanity. Move it to Sci-Fi or USA or Bravo. It’s too good to die.

Please, please, please put New Amsterdam back on the air. I finally find a show worth watching after NYPD Blue that is not mindless, brainless crap and what happens….it gets canceled. Are you kidding? With all the crap on TV geared to people that are afraid to see anything that doesn’t include a straw up your nose or some air head bimbo you get rid of a wonderful show that has many, many stories to tell and endless directions to take. This show should be a writers dream. Are they not sick of writing the same old boy meets air head. Please reconsider this show and bring it back for the rest of us. It was not given a fair chance or a fair amount of time to take off. Some people didn’t even know it existed the first few episodes and when they finally found it and got into, it it was yanked. This show is right up there with the likes of Law and Order and NYPD and I’m not the only one that thinks so. Please….8 episodes are just not enough for you to judge. Some people just stopped watching TV because everytime a new show comes out it is directed at the young male and the bimbo girl. When finally a show like New Amsterdam comes along it takes a while for the word to get out that a really great show is back. Don’t let this one go, it would be a very big mistake.

I’ve been watching a lot less TV this winter, but am home sick today and went to the Fox website to catch up on the show. I couldn’t even find a reference to it anywhere on their website to register my disappointment that it’s not there anymore.

New Amsterdam was an excellent show with an unlimited plot option. It aired a an impossible timeframe, yet many watched and enjoyed it. I just looked here to see when it would return and found out it was cancelled. Major error FOX!!!!!!!

We need new, exciting myster shows with a little SciFi mixed in. Let’s bring it back for another season. Like Start Trek’s slow start, this could mushroom into something really big if given a chance.

new amsterdam was a very goood show its not like any show that is on and when you strart to get into it they cancel it..i have some friends that dont watch the first season of shows becasue most don’t come back for another so when your looking to see how many viewers tuned in half don’t bother till the second season starts .im about to do the same..someone needs to pick up the show i would like to know what happens. and either don’t start any new ones or at least play out more then 8 episodes

My husband and I have been wondering when New Amsterdam would return. I just look it up and saw that it has been cancelled. Why can a network not give a program a chance anymore? This was a good, thoughtful, well scripted program and I sincerely hope some network will pick it up and continue the series. I, like Courtney, am sick of my favorite shows being cancelled without being given half a chance. However, FOX is not the only offender. Another show we really enjoyed was Eyes on ABC. They canned it after 6-8 episodes as well. Trash they keep, shows for people with a brain get cancelled.

Two of my favorite shows have been pulled because of Corporate big wigs! “New Amsterdam” is my favorite show along with “Cane” these two polar opposite shows are the shows we love to watch again and again. The story lines are direct, along with the wonderful cast-crew these people make the show and I hope if either shows ever come back on screen they will bring the same people back to do it. On another hand I am really hopping that since there were 13 shows originally made and only eight were aired, that those other 5 shows get put in a box set with the other 8 episodes and set out to Sell Sell Sell!!!!! I am also shocked to see Fox cancel New Amsterdam. At least they are consistent – they kill every good show. I think the programming exec in charge of choosing shows has something against good looking actors that resemble Nathan Filian like Nikolaj Coster Waldau did. Yes…Fox nitwits killing the Firefly series displayed a venom for solid series writing as well.

Yet – the network managed to keep the lousy Sara Conner Chronicles and Don’t Forget the Lyrics.

Apparently Fox execs live their work….They are truly NOT SMARTER THAN FIFTH GRADERS.

I thought this was one of the best shows out there. Should have put it on at a better time and different day. They should have promoted it more. another Fox show I loved bites the dust………this is the 2nd Fox series that had me reeled in waiting for more to unfold…….at least with this show it wasn’t supposed to have an actual “ending” like when Reunion was cancelled leaving everyone hanging as to who did it………3 years later and I am still awaiting an actual ending……they could have at least gave us a finale show so we knew how it actually ended. I am tired of Watching the Fox network because you never know when your favorite show will be canned and then leaving us hanging……but then again that is what this network does…….Why even bother with a new show at all if you are only going to give it 8 episodes?? Sounds like such a waste of time and money on everyone’s part. I can’t imagine how the actor’s in these series feel……..blow smoke up their tushes and then pull the rug out from underneath them, but then again you still have a job at the end of the day don’t you big executive’s, you don’t care if those underneath you have a job or not any longer as long as it suits you? Well I say can the executives and get someone who actually gives a shite about their audience…….maybe if you promoted it better and put it in a decent time slot it would have faired much better……it takes money to make money and you never even tried to make this one work……..how many other shows are you going to start and then never see them through??

I loved the show. I loved how it gave the history of NYC mixed into everyday life of John Amsterdam.

Give the show a break, mid season placement, short run, not really well advertised. I too love HOUSE but I love NEW AMSTERDAM. It was interest mingling of crime and history. I found it interesting how they mixed the history of NYC and of John together. It wasn’t just a cop show, it was so much more.

Please reconsider or let someone else pick it up.

This news really is quite crushing. I knew it didn’t have a huge fan base yet – being brought up mid-season and all didn’t help much. But to find out it was canceled just ruined my day. I didn’t discover the show until later on, and because of work I had to watch it online, but the second I could I would watch each episode and New Amsterdam quite quickly, and unexpectedly, climbed to the very top of my favorite shows list. Yes, it was my favorite show of fall ’07, and easily one of my favorite shows of all time. Competing with legends and big names like the old Twilight Zone series and House MD. At least Life didn’t get canceled, because that show is also very great.

Some of us LOVED New Amsterdam… A creative inventive show… wow that’s so bad.. The travel throught the era’s the drama it created the family aspect… I looked forward to each episode… this show brought me back to watching Fox again..

Your advertisers should be aware that the people who actually spend money on their products are the same people who enjoy watching shows that are both imaginative and entertaining. New Amsterdam has both of these qualities. There are fewer and fewer programs on the Fox Network that I find interesting enough to actually spend my valuable “down time” watching. Perhaps the end result that you are looking for is not that of an audience of intelligent, and thoughtful viewers.

What I don’t get is why FOX loves to cancel shows will-nilly. I’m glad that Terminator is back on FOX, but if it had pretty good ratings, then why on earth would the net cancel New Amsterdam? I guess i’ll have to cross my fingers and hope that it pops up in another network.
Speaking of renewals, I believe that fan campaigns should ask these networks to pick up New Amsterdam for another season.

I am very disheartened by the decision to cancel this show, and I know that many of my friends and family are also extremely disappointed. It was a wonderful show, with such potential for history and fantasy to blend into a tapestry of vision onscreen. I am sad to see it go. I hope some other network picks up the show so that it might live on for all of us, its fans.

Its now official I HATE FOX!!!!!

I was willing to get them a new chance with New Amsterdam after the stunts they pulled with Firefly, Dark Angel and Keen Eddie but its officially over. Other than watching the morning news and the Simpsons (which I might just go over to CBC for) and Family Guy (which I’ll probably just go to TBS instead) I’m done. I don’t trust FOX anymore. They keep ******** us over for stupid shows. I think its time for them to fire everyone who makes the decisions for shows and start over for when they actually gave shows a chance ie 90210, Melrose Place and Party of Five… sure they lasted way too long but you kept giving them chances.

Seriously FOX you have lost my confidence completely. My confidence had waved in you with the stupid reality show obsession you had a few years back but now its gone. I don’t think there’s anything short of changing their minds about New Amsterdam can get me to watch that channel for anything other than news again… and that’s only because that’s the only channel I can see clearly in the morning where I live.

Goodbye FOX you’ve lost another loyal watcher.

Don’t cancel New Amsterdam but please recast John Amsterdam’s love interest. They do not have any chemistry. I really enjoyed this show and Friday night is ok by me.
