While some shows are getting orders for additional episodes, Numb3rs has just had its number cut by CBS. How does this bode for the drama’s chances for a seventh season?
As Friday night viewers know, Numb3rs revolves around an FBI agent (Rob Morrow) and his genius brother (David Krumholtz) who helps solve cases with mathematics. The cast also features Judd Hirsch (as their father), Alimi Ballard, Dylan Bruno, Navi Rawat, Aya Sumika, and Peter MacNicol.
The series is currently in its sixth season, having debuted in January 2005. For the show’s entire run, it’s been a staple of CBS’ Friday night schedule in the 10pm position.
In its first season, Numb3rs averaged a 3.2 rating in the demo and 11.1 million viewers. In season two, the show’s ratings rose to an average rating of 3.3 and 11.7 million viewers. Overall viewership has dropped since then. Last season was watched by an average of 9.75 million and the demo was 2.2.

This season however has been a different story. Numb3rs’ numbers are way down. It’s fallen all the way down to a 1.7 rating in the all-important demo. Overall viewership has also dropped to an average of 7.9 million viewers.
If you look at these figures, it’s not hard to understand why CBS has decided to cut this season’s order from 22 to 16 episodes. In addition, the network already has a couple other dramas that can take its place, including Flashpoint — a show that’s cheaper and already proven to work on Friday nights.
What does this mean for Numb3rs’ future and its chances for a seventh season? The episode cut doesn’t mean anything in itself but the ratings that caused it certainly do. The show is already in syndication and, now in its sixth year, the show is quite difficult to produce. Unless the ratings return to their previous level, the show will surely be cancelled.
What do you think? Would you be sorry to see the show cancelled or would you like to watch a seventh season?

I love this show,
I’ts the best show and it’s the best way to start the weekend, i love how you get to fallow the people in the show and it feels like you know them, I think it is the best show that anyone has ever come up with and if they cancel it I won’t know what to do with my friday nights,
PLEASE! Don’t cancel this show, we that are part of the percentage left who watch it are loyal. It’s like you give those that give up on shows what they want and a big “SCREW YOU!” to those of us that have been with shows from the start. If all thats going to be left of T.V. are stupid “reality” shows then I will stop watching T.V. all together, because there wont be anything left worth watching.
BEST SHOW ON TV, COME UP WITH MORE ACTION EPISODES AND WATCH IT TAKE OFF.
it is on the friday DEATH-slot. but it doesn’t deserve cancellation
Numb3rs is a very smart show and causes you to use your brain. A refreshing change from all the ‘reality’ based television these days. It’s well written and well acted. Please keep this wonderful show on the air!
This is the only show we watch on TV. It is intelligent, the acting is good and the plots are not predictable. It would be a real pity to cancel it. On ap ersonal note, the Epps family and friends are part of our otherwise extremely busy routine. We like relaxing with them and starting the weekend after a visit with ‘old friends’.
This show can’t be cancelled, its the one thing my son will sit down with me and do. We have a standing “date” every friday night. This show must stay on.
I love this show and I would hate to see it gone. I think that they are always getting rid of the great shows and replacing them with stupid one that are not even worth taking time out of your night and watching them. I sure hope that they don’t get rid of NUMBERS it is one of the things that they have going for them.
Why are all the good shows always cancelled?? Numb3rs is one of the best shows right now, so please please please don’t cancel
I watch Numb3rs because it is a very smart show! Do not cancel this show! As it stands now, there is nothing on at 10pm! You put another reality show on in this slot, there will definitely be nothing to watch and look forward to on CBS!!!
Look at the CBS Friday lineup this year. Numbers doesn’t fit. Flashpoint won’t either. I love both shows, but they will never succeed paired with the Ghost Whisperer and Medium.
another pinhead move by cbs
This is one of the best shows on television, and the best show on Fridays. cancelling this show would be a mistake. I don;t even know of another CBS show I watch on a regular basis.
NUMB3RS does an excellent job of a “cop drama series” with a twist… The writing and acting are very good. Flashpoint is mentioned as a replacement, but Flashpoint (so far) is very standard and predictable, compared to NUMB3Rs, which is better – a great mix of action, thinking, drama. Would be a loss to see it go!
Don’t cancel. Intelligent, witty and usually gripping. Still on our very limited must see list.
