NYC 22: Cancelled; No Season Two on CBS

no season 2 NYC 22 canceledThe rookies of NYC 22 won’t be honing their police skills on CBS much longer. The network has cancelled the cop series before the entire season has finished airing.

NYC 22 follows a half dozen police men and women as they learn the ropes in the Big Apple. The ensemble cast includes Adam Goldberg, Leelee Sobieski, Stark Sands, Judy Marte, Harold House Moore, Felix Solis, Tom Reed, and Terry Kinney.

Debuting on April 15th, in (now-cancelled) CSI: Miami’s former timeslot, NYC 22 attracted a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 8.86 million viewers. The second episode dropped 7% and the third fell 14% more. Last Sunday night’s episode maintained a 1.2 in the demo and 6.87 million.

It was clear from the start that this new show was doomed to be cancelled.

The series currently averages a 1.3 rating in the all-important demo with 7.67 million viewers. On our CBS Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo performance of TV shows on the network, NYC 22 has an “F” grade. It’s the lowest-rated scripted show currently on the network.

The Tiffany network ordered 13 installments of NYC 22 and, for the foreseeable future, they’ll continue to air on Sunday nights.

What do you think? Are you going to miss NYC 22? Do you think it should have been renewed for season two?

This is it for me as far as “network” tv shows are concerned. as well as my family and many, many friends. These dinosaur companies have NO BALLS!! they can feed the “fly overs” with the other drek that they make. The greed has got to stop! The producer’s of shows like this should have the dedication and patience and go to cable-they should have
known better-this program had so much potential-it makes me sick! Thank god for cable-for the most part they give the artists a decent run. Another example of “the moronic suits fucking us over….

Figures CBS would not give this show a chance! The story lines are actually better than Rookie Blue! Too bad! With a little better publicity and interviews with the actors on the early morning talk shows, this show could have been a real hit!

I guess they needed the room to put on another brainless “Reality” show.

Very disappointing to hear this. Absolutely love this show! Great acting, great characters and great story lines. Really, really too bad. With limited quality TV available, this is a great loss.

When a show as smart as this one is cancelled, I’m amazed!!!! It has great writing, wonderful cast, and so much more that is positive.

With all the crap that is on TV these days (reality shows, bad singing and acting shows) when will TV execs grow a set and leave a great show on?

This show is really good, it’s crazy to cancel with so few shows on that are smart and still a bit funny and interesting characters.

I’m sorry to see this show cancelled. It reminded me of Hill Street Blues. I hope Richard Price, whose books are killer, writes more for television!

I am not in the targeted demographic, 18-49, so my comments are not going to mean anything to CBS; however there are a lot of people who are baby boomers and older who actually WATCH TV. As one of these older people, I am constantly surprised when quality programs like NYC22 are cancelled. Of course, I would prefer shows with older casts, but if all that is available is shows featuring younger actors, then NYC22 is at the top of the summer heap. It definitely should not be cancelled.

I think half the reason this show was cancelled was cause it was aired on CBS, put it on one of the bigger networks like NBC or ABC and I’m sure the ratings would go up, here in Canada it’s shown on one of our bigger networks, Global TV, and it seems to be a big hit north of the border……just my opinion

This is a excellent show well acted and the story lines are on point I really don’t see why this show got cancelled. You can’t appeal to everyone but if you can’t see how good this show is then there is something wrong with you
