Word has come down that, after a less-than-impressive sophomore year in the ratings, ABC has decided to cancel October Road.
The news has been suspected for some time and was cinched by the network’s interest in the U.S. version of Life on Mars. Boston Legal’s creator, David E. Kelley, owns the rights to do a Mars series in the states. He had been committed to write and executive produce the series for ABC but recently decided to bow out. As a result, ABC execs have been hot to sign Road creators Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, and Scott Rosenberg to the new series. They’ve now closed the deal and sealed Road’s fate.
ABC had attempted to find another home for Road but were unsuccessful in finding a buyer.
All 19 produced episodes of October Road have aired. The series finale aired on March 10th but unfortunately didn’t offer viewers any closure. Will we ever know the identity of Sam’s father? Stay tuned!
unbelievable
this is so wrong
Here we go again. A good show with real life situations. What happens, oh yeah cancel it for another sorry sap reality show. What every happpened when we had really nice shows to watch with your kids. The days are long but gone. TGIF know more and now ABC has done it to us again. Canceling one of the best shows in years. Thanks allot. Never really care about those who watch tv only about there bottom pocket. Hey ABC why don’t you still have another season and air it on ABC family just a hint. Is that not why… Read more »
I think you should bring back one of the best new series out there. I have been waiting to see more of the show, to know more about Sam’s father and I have to say Reality TV is so over and we need new, real shows like October Road that people can relate too! Please bring it back, you won’t be sorry!
I’ve enjoyed watching October Road more than any other show on television over the past year and a half. I could not wait for the next week’s episode to come. Its storylines are true to life and easy to identify with. Please bring it back!
And to the execs at ABC, I have zero interest in a police detective in a time warp (i.e. Life on Mars)…
Please don’t cancel October Road, it is one of the best shows on tv, give it another season PLEASE.
I AM 100% with all the others who are sick of reality tv.
Why in the world would they remove one of the best series on at this time.
I am about to abort tv as a whole. Where will ABC be then ?
SERIOUSLY!
I am so tired of the good shows being cancelled!!! October Road is one of the best shows on television! I am with all the others in stating that the reality nightmare that television has become is so overrated……I truly think that this show has a great following and the cancellation of October Road should be reconsidered…….
It would be nice to see some closure. At least give us a finale. Kate
I cannot believe this, I use to watch ABC all the time and now they are pulling the plug on all these great shows! October Road was a great show with a lot of growing potential. Very annoyed with ABC.
I love October Road. I can’t believe how many people loved this show and yet the critics hated it, the networks never really gave it great support. It was such a good show though that even through it all the fans are so loyal and growing by the day. It just goes to show that the critics and networks are often not in touch with what viewers want to see. If this show had been supported it could have been great. This show deserves to find a place to grow, be nurtured and loved. We are still fighting for this… Read more »
I can not believe that the whole show was about “WHO IS SAM”S FATHER” and we will never know
First Men In Trees is cancelled now October Roads, every show on your network that is just enjoyment to watch, you cancel them and give us hospital, realty shows, etc and that is why most of us watch cable tv. I do not understand why whoever keeps doing this you must not watch your own network because it pretty much is low rated.
Please put Men In Trees and October Roads back on – please let Brothers and Sisters on. These three programs are the only time I watch abc.
Advertiser’s ask us to do one thing – buy their products. To do this they sponsor tv shows. We viewers invest our time, through emotional attachment and spend our money on sponsor’s products with no guarantee of closure or resolution. OR is a prime example. Good characters; evil characters; interesting plots and after two seasons we now have many unanswered questions that apparently we will never have the opportunity to resolve. Perhaps we should force some kind of law that would require tv producers to end a canceled series by tying up the loose ends if a show runs a… Read more »
I was a little slow getting into OR. I missed the first few episodes of Season 1 so I said I would wait until it was on DVD and watch in the correct order. So I get Season 1 and then I breeze thru that plus Season 2 in a matter of 3 days. This show has consumed me and now I feel a sense of grief and mourning thinking that it will not continue. I would give up Grey’s and Ugly Betty for this show. BELIEVE ME when i say this is a one of a kind and it… Read more »
This still sucks, but I will continue to fight. I write two letters everyday. I just bought 2 more dvds to donate to the Pay October Road Forward Campaign, who is next?
Come on Roadies, don’t give up!
