The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.
Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.
The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.
Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.
It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.
What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

It’s a travesty that a show such as Outsourced is cancelled while a failing show like Chuck gets renewed… again. If Outsourced was shown on CBS right after The Big Bang Theory, it would have done well just as it did well following The Office.
It’s not surprising that shows they put up at the 10-10:30 spot would fail.
If they had left the show in the time slot it began with it would have been fine, but when they moved it killed it. While trying to launch a new sitcom they killed a decent rating one and still was unable to launch a new one. They ended up in worst shape than what they began.
Outsourced was the best show ever. I hate NBC for cancelling it. I thought the jokes were really funny and I loved the light hearted humor in the show. For people who took them personally: get a life. NBC should seriously reconsider making season 2 for outsourced because I LOVED every single episode this season and I was really, really, really hoping for another season.
So disappointed!
I loved this show! I had become an exclusive NBC watcher and now that sits cancelled i am very sad and will probably watch less NBC
I’m so sad that NBC canceled this! My whole family loved this show just as much as the other NBC Thursday night comedies. It might not have been as unique as Community or 30 Rock, but it was sweet and had a lot of likeable characters. I think NBC pretty much gave it a death sentence when they put it at 10:30, though! How can anyone be surprised that its ratings weren’t good when its on that late at night?? Stupid NBC
Outsourced was a slap in the face to all Americans who have lost their jobs to cheap labor overseas. Not to mention it wasn’t funny. Love the irony of all the lowlifes involved in this show having lost their jobs.
Sigh…..yet another good comedy becoming a victim of the ratings lie.
One of the funniest shows of the year. Is it possible another network might pick it up?
Very disappointing. It was smart, funny, well acted and of course cancelled. No wonder NBC is a bottom feeder. Now its only redeeming feature is “30 Rock.” We simply don’t watch much network TV but I can honestly say, “30 Rock,” “Outsourced” and “Smallville” was it — now we’re down to only “30 Rock.”
this is part and parcel of the hollywood culture. take something good that people like and put it in a no win situation (10:30 time slot) then wait for the ratings to drop so you can cancel the show. this is nothing more than some hollywood jew producer’s politics at work here. he/she is probably upset teh show did well and wanted to exert their power to get rid of it. for shame. this was a smart show with good characters. americans are dumb and breathe through their mouths
Call NBC and complain. (212) 664-4444
This show should have been given more time. A smart show with a great cast. The actors were just beginning to show their strength and range. Disappointing!
Nooooooo! My whole family loves this show!!! It’s a dark, dark, day for us today! Bad move NBC! What are you replacing it with, some other typical American family show that’s pretty much like all the others? Outsourced was different and fresh and actually funny! Bring it back!
This is ridiculous. My family really enjoyed this show. NBC you freaking stink.
