Outsourced: NBC TV Series Cancelled; No Season Two

Outsourced canceled season twoThe little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.

Outsourced follows a US sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who’s assigned to supervise his company’s call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.

The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Should Outsourced have been cancelled?

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have gone as low as a 1.4 in the demo with just 2.97 million viewers. Those are horrible numbers for a major network, even NBC.

Outsourced’s season currently averages a 2.1 demo rating and 4.55 million viewers. For NBC, that’s not too bad but the average is only that high because of the early season ratings.

It’s certainly not a shocker than NBC has cancelled Outsourced after just one season. The 22nd and final episode, titled “Rajiv Ties the Bharat, part two,” aired last night.

What do you think? Are you disappointed that there won’t be a second season of Outsourced? Why do you think the TV show didn’t catch on?

We have totally fallen in love with this show and characters! Networks always seem to do this with really really good multicultural shows just because no one else has done it before! HAVE FAITH IN YOUR DEMOGRAPHIC!! We do have a brain and want new writing that is not so formulaic, like hollywood tends to be!!! Lease have a heart and a BRAIN!!! BRING OUTSOURSED BACK!!!!

Is it really a mystery as to why this show was cancelled? I think the show got outsourced to China where it was able to be made EVEN more cheaply. Let’s make a comedy about the failing auto industry and call it “off-shored” like most of the extinct auto industry jobs. Comedy will ensue with such a light hearted topic in America I am sure:-) Read a book people.

We LOVE it. We are a multi-cultural family, my wife and I born in different country (not India, not US), with different mother tongue and religion and now living in Asia. For us and the kids it is one of the best and funniest series and with fantastic characters. I think that the problem for the US public is that Tod was not the hero saving Indians from misery and nobody was shooting anybody with any big weapon. And who in the US cares about India? The show was not racist at all, I am not sure about the US public…

I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY THE RATING KEPT ON FALLING DOWN.. WHEN THE SHOW ONLY GAVE ME INFINITE LAUGHING MOMENTS AS WELL AS CLASSIC ROMANCE MADE BY TODD AND ASHA.

Such a waste of witty plot and talented characters. I have started to get hooked on this amazing sitcom only to realize there won’t be any Season 2. It is definitely hard to get a sitcom that can get me glued to the screen. When Outsourced was aired in Singapore, I was like thank god. At least I have something to look forward to on Sunday nights especially when my favorite drama House is ending. Ive signed 2 petitions and will do more if there’s any. Cmon Outsourced fans! Let’s not give up on this. Keep on petitioning and bring Outsourced back.

We want the show back… after such a long time this was the show which made everyone laugh like crazy.. I guess it is stopped because of the racists thing, but according to me it didn’t show any such thing, rather, it shows different cultures coming together. In the show everyone teaches one another about their culture and respect each other.
I am not offended by the show. In fact I love this show….

This show was the only reason I watched the other stupid shows . . . I was waiting for Outsourced. And, I actually read or played computer games during the other shows. I can’t believe you’d keep Community and Parks & Rec and get rid of this much funnier show.
