Penny Dreadful: Season One Ratings

Penny Dreadful TV show ratingsShowtime‘s Penny Dreadful is bringing a new twist to classic characters in a horror setting. Will the show’s ratings be horrible as well? Will the cable channel renew the series for a second season or will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.

Penny Dreadful teams legendary characters from classic novels like Dorian Gray, Mina Harker, and Doctor Frankenstein and his monster. The cast includes Reeve Carney, Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Rory Kinnear, Billie Piper, Danny Sapani, Harry Treadaway, and Josh Hartnett.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available. Because the Showtime audience is sometimes very small, the ratings data can be difficult to find.

6/4 update: Showtime has renewed Penny Dreadful for a second season.

Final season averages: 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 770,000 total viewers.

Renew or cancel, does not matter as long as the ending favours me, haha! This is a very serious horror-thriller-drama-witchcrafty-diabolical-Ms-Ives-ish TV series with high-caliber actors, high production value, excellent direction and screenplay… no tweetums and not trying hard. I wonder why the ratings are so low. If this will be renewed, I hope they end the story of Dr Frankenstein and Caliban in Season 2 – does not fascinate me at all and it looked like more of a filler. Though there was a scene of Caliban and Ms Ives in S02-Ep2 so it kinda made me interested to know what would there be between the two. Looking forward to the next episodes…can’t wait.

Please renew. It’s soo rare for a tv series to have a cinematography intricately staged it’s like you’re watching a movie and overall, this is a GREAT SERIES!!

Very stagey and affected acting style happening in this series. Maybe that’s its gimmick but I found it rather silly.

Love the show so far. Great idea incorporating Dr. Frankstein and Dorian Gray. Also, I love the western cowboy twist. The backdrop (early London) also adds some flavor to the series. I have found all of the principal characters to be interesting and the plot and sub-plots have keep me very interested. Certainly, I am hoping the series will be renewed. Now if this newwork would pick-up COPPER they would have two sure winners!!!
