TV show description:
This TV show revolves around Doctor Daniel Pierce (Eric McCormack), an eccentric and brilliant neuroscience professor. Unfortunately, his mind is also damaged and he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.
Pierce struggles with hallucinations and paranoid delusions brought on by his schizophrenia. Oddly though, he considers some of his hallucinations to be a gift. They occasionally allow him to make connections that his conscious mind can’t yet process. At other times, the hallucinations become Pierce’s greatest curse, leading him to behave in irrational, potentially dangerous ways.
Still, he’s recruited by FBI agent Kate Moretti (Rachael Leigh Cook) to help solve complex cases. Pierce has an intimate knowledge of human behavior and a masterful understanding of the way the mind works. He also has an uncanny ability to see patterns and can look past people’s conscious emotions to see what lies beneath. Kate is Pierce’s former student and, unlike her colleagues, she’s willing to look past his peculiarities.
Pierce’s mental condition and offbeat manner make it difficult for him to achieve the close friendships and intimate relationships he craves.
Those close to him include Max Lewicki (Arjay Smith), his teaching assistant. Max’s primary job is to keep Pierce in line and on task, whether that means grading midterms or laying out his boss’ wardrobe for the day. Natalie Vincent (Kelly Rowan) is Pierce’s best friend and every bit his intellectual equal. Paul Haley (LeVar Burton) is the dean at Pierce’s university and one of his few friends.
Pierce is in his element when solving an intricate puzzle or a coded message. But in unfamiliar situations, he can quickly become overwhelmed, and only his favorite music and a crossword puzzle have the power to make things right again.
Episode #39 — Run
When Moretti goes missing the day of her wedding, Pierce and Donnie set off in pursuit of the runaway bride. They soon learn that Kate has been abducted by a dangerous person from Pierce’s own past. Pierce and Donnie risk everything to save Moretti before it’s too late.
First aired: March 17, 2015
What do you think? Do you like the Perception TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season?
I am so very disappointed that Perception is cancelled! Please, please bring it back!
PLEASE – bring Perception back!! It’s one of the best shows on TV. It is intelligent and makes one think – and it shows someone with a disability in the real working world. PLEASE – some other station – pick this series up!!!
PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! BRING PERCEPTION BACK!!!!!! It’s an excellent show, one of the better ones on television. Did anyone bother to ask the fans what they think? Do we have to have write in campaign to have it brought back? TNT listen to your public.
Hey Chandra ! That’s exactly why Perception was given the axe … they couldn’t have possibly asked the viewership, no way, they probably didn’t want to ask . My opinion, thanks
I loved the show, the time slot was probably the reason for low ratings. (Tues @10:00) what were they thinking?
Perception is a wonderfully intelligent show. It does not deserve to be cancelled.
Perception should not be cancelled. I love absolutely love it.
Can’t believe USA would cancel an intelligent show for adults. Why? Inane reality show replacing it? Shame on you..
Perception is on TNT!
Perception on TNT … you are referring too RERUNS of course. Let me know if TNT decides to order NEW episodes, they I’ll be interested .
we totally enjoyed this show. always gave something to think about regarding the brain. so sorry it was cancelled
Not too many shows I really liked. Perception was one of them.
My spouse and I love this show. It is always entertaining and the characters are fascinating. I really wish it would return.
With the hundreds of TV channels that have popped up in this country you would think they would like to to have Perception to boost their viewership. I guess reality shows are so low budget they would rather show them. It’s all just Dumb and Dumber.
I love this intelligent show. Perhaps that is why USA wants to cancel it?It is rare to have a prime time show indicate such thought provoking ideas and intelligent encouragement as seen and heard in Dr. Pierce’s lectures. Besides, the cast is fun, the problems are interesting and the relationships on the show are wonderful. Why cancel? indeed. I’ve become a cynic re television.

LOVE perception!!! why would USA want to cancel it?
So sorry to see this show cancelled. It was great entertainment.
Perception is a fantastic show. It is so sad that it is canceled. It has sharp writing, good stories and great actors. I wish it was on for another 5 years.
It is unacceptable to cancel this series. TNT is probably following the lead set by A&E to end series, regardless of how popular they are (ie Longmire) because it is appealing to the incorrect demographic. It is worry some that an age group that is unpopular with advertisers can cause well written and well liked series to be canceled.
Well Lola E. if you are correct about the demographics angle then it’s time to get rid of some of the higher up muckety mucks that are running their assigned departments like their own personal companies. My opinion … thanks
I would not be surprised if those who are concerned about the demographics issue are not part of the same age group for which they are electing to exclude from the importance of their viewership. It highly likely that they are looking at their paycheck and not in their viewers’ best interest. After all, one can never have enough zeros in their bottom line.
If you are referring to the older generation then I’ve got news for you. Nobody ever listens to us. I’m 74 and I don’t want Perception cancelled any more than you do. It makes me think which is more than I can say for most TV shows.
Ding ding ding, you are correct. AARP should pull their advertising dollars from the networks that believe our age does not matter enough to keep programs on air that is enjoyed by those they are supposed to represent. Then and only then will the big wigs may pay attention. Not until they are struck in the wallet will it matter to them.
