Persons Unknown: Could There Be a Second Season?

Persons UnknownNBC has been promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and that the show’s mysteries will be answered by the end. The show has not performed well in the ratings so hopefully the network will let all 13 episodes air.

If they do pull the series early, the show is scheduled to be put out on DVD. According to Amazon, it’s scheduled for an August 31st release but that’s likely to change because NBC won’t have aired all of the episodes until early September.

Some readers have noticed that the DVD set is titled Persons Unknown: The Complete First Season. Why? Because, though NBC has promoted it as a mini-series, Persons Unknown could continue for a second season.

Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon recently told Collider that, when they were shooting it, they did so believing it would be an on-going series. Though they wanted it to go on, he made sure that they answered all of the questions by the end of the first season, to make it a satisfying story for viewers.

Could there be another season? Aubuchon said, “It’s not unheard of, in the course of life, that if there’s enough interest in it, we could consider going a second season or doing another chapter. I keep looking at it as books in a series, and this season is the first book. I feel confident that we will have a beginning, middle and end, in this season, and it was wise of NBC to then call it what it really is, which is a mini-series.”

He continued, “24 is a really good example, in that there was a definitive beginning, middle and end for the first season. They had a slightly different format than we have, but the second season just retained Jack Bauer and a few other players, with the same basic format and idea, but it was a completely different show. I’m not saying that that’s exactly where we’re going, but certainly I think that there’s room for saying, ‘Hey, look, we told one story of a continuing saga.’ You should be able to pick this book up and get to the last line of the season and go, ‘Wow! Well, I hope there’s a second season, but at least I feel satisfied that I got to see all of this. They answered it all for me.”

Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that NBC would be interested in another season but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t return on another channel or in another form.

What do you think? Would you like to see Persons Unknown continue in some way?

now how can you say that u finished off the show when there where all new people that went to the hotel and the rest went on a boat? now if the anwers where given then why where they on the boat and who where the new people once again nbc leaves good programming to put shows on that at first have a chance but once that show starts to show bad ratings then the channel starts changing days times and how the hell if you are just catching it for the first time watch it on say monday. Then you wait well good luck with that because next time u find it its on fridays or Saterday Leave the shows at one time and maybe a show like third watch won’t get cancelled because no one is watching give them a shot and maybe you will get watchers you do the same thing with RULES OF ENGAGMENT why is this do you not know any better?

PLEASE continue this….. This is hands down the BEST show I’ve ever watched. I’m not big on tv much anymore, but this….. THIS will keep me coming back for more. I recently stumbled upon it via Netflix & I am sooooooo glad I did. I finished season 1 in less than a week & now I crave more! Hell, I’d be happy with books! (I’m not much of a reader either)

This was the type of show you could really enjoy. Then they ruin it. Tried too hard with the twists. Stay away. Its the kind of show that is going to always ask more questions then give answers. Then get canceled someday before it answers the really important ones. The creators of the show are talented, but stupid. I am glad it is gone, before I spend 3 years worth watching it get cumber and cumber like… heroes. Way to go Nbc. It was like watching masterpiece theater Morph into sponge Bob square pants.

They should absolutely make a second season. They shouldn’t just leave us hanging like that! I really want to know what happens, and I want to learn more information on the psychology experiment they are conducting on these people (what they keep doing the experiments over and over again, and what results are they getting).

The show started in 2010. i have been holding my hopes up for the second season because of the end of the first season. I still dont understand why they woke up in a hotel on a boat and some people didnt upgrade and were left in the town along with that one chick’s ex husband…but i have a feeling we are all going to be seriously disappointed.

I just caught the whole first season of Persons Unknown on netflix and I really enjoyed it. after episode 13 ended I got right online to see if I could find out if there was a season 2 cause I wanted to see a season 2. I never heard of the show just found it surfing netflix. I really hope they can put something together for a second season. I know a lot of time has passed since the first season, but hopefully the feedback keeps rolling in a positve direction and they consider the options for a 2nd season
