The thing about Season 2 of PitchMen is that post-Billy, we’re reminded that what makes the show great is the people, the inventors chasing the American dream. The story lies within their successes and failures.

We hope Discovery Channel smartens up, starts promoting season 2 and brings it back to their primetime lineup. It deserves the prestige.

Ok, Billy Mayes was great. Everybody loved him. I get it. And the tragic loss of him was very unfortunate and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends …but everyone needs to get the cobwebs out of their brains because this show was not about Billy Mayes. It’s not about Sully Sullivan. It’s not for ANYONE to bask in the limelight of their own fame or greatness. It doesn’t matter WHO hosts this show. It’s about the inventors and the creativity and ingenuity of the human spirit and rooting on the underdog to see their ideas and dreams come to fruition. No matter how great everyone thinks the host is, the next person will pick up the torch and carry on. The world won’t stop. It’s what human beings have been doing since before the stone age. Picking up and carrying on. So, all due respect to Billy Mayes but HE IS NOT WHAT MAKES THE SHOW WHAT IT IS. THE SHOW IS WHAT MAKES THE SHOW GREAT. It shows us that we ALL are capable of greatness through hard work, intelligence and creativity. So stop making this about one man’s fame and glory and bring the show back.

I think this show is a great way for ordinary people to showcase the possible life changing invention. I think the Billy would say let the show go on. In the spirit of great inventions by ordinary people is what Billy stood for. I vote yes. Set the stage and let the show go on.

i hope they show a second season of pitchmen sometime this year. it was one of my favorite discovery channel shows.

I think that this is a great thing! I was one of those people who wrote discovery and Sully expressing my feelings that Billy would have wanted the show to continue! Billy made the “info-mercial” a legitimate business and this show was suppose to be the culmination of his career. It must keep moving forward!

I loved Billy Mays! I hate that I am now seeing his ads on TV being cut up so you can’t see it’s him sanding the floor and some woman is doing a voice over. I don’t handle change well and I’m very loyal to the people I like. Billy was one of those people.

I do think “Pitchmen” should continue as long as Sully and Billy’s son are on board. I don’t think they need to replace Billy Mays on the show. They can continue with Sully and the companies he works with along with the staff and Billy the 3rd.

@TOM: I agree, I was also on the fence, but really enjoyed the show. A big part of that was Billy, but Sully also is a big part of the show and I would think that Billy would want it to go on. I am glad they decided to give it another season.

Billy Mays was actually Billy Mays, Jr. and his offspring is Billy Mays III. You might want to correct that.

I am really on the fence with this one… There will never be another Billy Mays and in some respect anyone else on the show would be compared to him. On the other hand, part of the team was Sully and I think maybe he can pull it off.
