I hate to say it but the truth is that reality shows are cheap to produce thus they make money even if hardly anyone watches them. So when I good show like Pushing Daisies comes along...a show that obviously was expensive to produce - it does not last. The problem with TV now days is there are so many short series of a few episodes to two years that when a good one comes along, it takes a while to catch on even if it is a gem.
Truth be told even though Pushing Daisies interested me from the first time I saw a trailer, I missed every episode on broadcast date except for two...even though I watched what episodes that I could on the Internet and purchased the first season on DVD, I am sure that my viewing did not count towards ratings.
With people so busy these days and so many opportunities to watch programming at different times or on different media, some of which may not be recorded and affect ratings, it is no wonder that so many great shows are canceled in their embryonic stage.
This is one reason some people need to be Billionaires...if I had the funds, I would gladly produce this show and keep it running....profit or not. There are not enough people around really supporting the arts...yes there are people investing in ART for their own financial and egotistical purposes - however - there are few people out there saving great screenplays and television from the scrap heap.
This is one show that should have ran a decade...it does not take but a small fraction of some people's wealth to keep a visually stunning and imagination provoking series like this in production.
If there were more people out there who really cared about enriching the human cultural experience, shows like this would not get canceled after 22 episodes.

Loved this show on my network and then bought the DVD box set and watched the entire first season. It's not everyone's cup of tea, agreed, but it is undoubtedly good story telling and something fantastic and quirky. Why can't we have something like this on air? Must we have chick flick Tv like Gossip Girl, Gilmore Girls, Lipstick Jungle and all that humbug? Surely ABC must reconsider. And yes, it's true Boston Legal has lost its charm and quirkiness. It seems no one wants the wonderful world's like Picket Fences, Ally McBeal and other such mad and wonderful shows. Pity.

Pushing Daisies and Dirty, Sexy, Money were both great and innovative television shows with decent ratings. So why cancel them? I will tell you why because ABC wanted room for their stupid reality shows like Wipeout. ABC and the other television stations needs to get their head out of their butt and cancel these reality shows!

Rarely do shows of this caliber come along. Everything from the fantasy storyline, extraordinary costumes, and superb acting; this show is a one in a million. This was a program that my whole family enjoyed watching. Two married daughters along with their spouses and an 18 year old son and his girlfriend all loved this show. The writers have great imagination and were able to weave together great episodes. I hope ABC reconsiders. ABC seems to do this over and over every year. I WILL NOT GET HOOKED ON ANOTHER ONE OF THEIR SERIES only to be DISAPPOINTED yet again!!!!!!!!!!! Get rid of the "reality" and bring this darling show back! I am hoping another network wil pick it up. Love, love, love the talented Chenoweth. :)

Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money were my two favorite shows on ABC. They both had a plot so must be canceled. ABC needs to wake up and cancel some of the junk they call tv instead of these two great shows.

The cancellation of this show is one of the biggest mistakes in the past 40 years of television.

Travelers would have faired better than this show! You should NEVER of cancelled Travelers just to replace it with this show! Didn't work! Just like cancelling DSM & Eli won't work either! Who in the heck are making these dumb decisions at ABC anyway? Whom ever they are, the need to be fired before they run ABC into the ground!

This is the best show on TV. I am so disappointed to see it going away. I do hope that Bryan Fuller will do a movie of this most original of shows.
