Rake: Cancelled Now? FOX Series Sent to Saturdays

Rake TV show canceled?A couple weeks ago, FOX shifted their low-rated Rake series to Friday nights. Now, the show is on the move again.

Rake follows a lawyer (Greg Kinnear) who tries to do good but just can’t seem to get beyond his numerous addictions that cause him so much trouble. The cast also includes John Ortiz, Necar Zadegan, Bojana Novakovic, David Harbour, Tara Summers, Miranda Otto, and Ian Colletti.

The series is being replaced by Kitchen Nightmares as of this Friday night. A rerun of the Gordon Ramsay series will lead into the one-hour series finale of Raising Hope at 9pm. Season six of Nightmares kicks off on April 11th.

Back-to-back episodes of Rake will air on Saturday, April 5th, starting at 8pm. That will leave one episode unaired — the sixth installment produced, titled “Mammophile.” No word on when or if that will see the light of day.

One thing is clear however. Despite the fact that FOX hasn’t cancelled it yet, there’s no way that Rake will be returning for a second season.

What do you think? Have you been watching the Rake TV series? Why do you think it hasn’t caught on?

I cannot believe this show is being cancelled! This sucks!! It’s one of the best network tv dramas ever!!! Why is it that only HBO, Showtime and AMC are the only ones who have any idea what a good tv drama is!!!

I don’t why it didn’t work. I thinks it is a fun show. I am very disappointed that it wasn’t given a chance to prove itself. That’s the attitude for everything these days and it’s our loss.

This is one of the best shows we’ve seen for a long while! They didn’t advertise it right; we’ve been talking it up to our friends but we need another season at least! Bring it back. All the actors are wonderful!

It looks like we’re voicing our wishes to the wind, the powers that be aren’t interested in what we see or want. It’s too bad, this show did well in the UK, I guess the “Brits” have a better understanding of comedy than the programers for this network. It has all the great qualities of a good series but what do we know. The DOLTS in programing are probably looking for reality shows, what a waste….

Rake is a great show. Any idea if the opinions left here reach anyone who matters, i.e. is connected to the show?

You have not given Rake a clear chance….. You should put it on at Tues, wednes, or Fridays/Sat. Try 9:00pm. And then one late night 11:00pm or12:00am or 1:00am….. The main problem is without. Great promotions…. People don’t know Rake exist as well as the times you launch it should be consistent…… So if it is Tues day and/or Wednesday at 9:00pm then it should be there at that time and date for the whole run not helter- scalter all over the place……We ALL
Love – ”Greg Kinnear” and if he and ” Rake ” is promoted correctly… We/they will follow him. This show is great and will be a big hit if it is exposed and not hidden. Bring it back and do it right! J.P.

“Rake” was a great show! It was fun, witty, thought-provoking — everything that intelligent people would like. Why is it that the really stupid shows (“Two Broke Girls”, anyone??) stay on the air, and intelligent shows like “Rake” get cancelled?! Perhaps Fox should have made an effort to air it when people could watch it, and to advertise it! Too bad!
