Rake: Greg Kinnear TV Show Cancelled by FOX

Rake ratingsFOX has officially cancelled the Rake TV series. The news comes as no surprise and leaves the dark comedy with one episode unaired.

Rake follows a lawyer (Greg Kinnear) who tries to do good but just can’t seem to get beyond his numerous addictions that cause him so much trouble. The cast also includes John Ortiz, Necar Zadegan, Bojana Novakovic, David Harbour, Tara Summers, Miranda Otto, and Ian Colletti.

The show got off to a poor start on Thursday, January 23rd, and the ratings dropped lower in subsequent weeks. After seven episodes, the network sent the series to Friday night where the ratings got much worse — even by Friday night standards. FOX aired two more installments on a Saturday night and has yet to release the final episode.

What do you think? Do you think this show sould have been cancelled? Are you sorry that there won’t be a second season of Rake?

Rake is a good show, I hope someone brings it back. Good acting and writing is such a rare combination these days.

It’s crazy that this was cancelled. It had everything. Not quite as stupid as cancelling Freaks and Geeks but close. Can’t cable pick it up???

What a shame Rake has been canceled. It’s a great show with deep characters and quality acting. I looked forward to watching it every week. I’ll definitely miss this show.

Rake was done in by its wacko scheduling. What a shame. It was something different with good people doing good acting.

The Origional Australian Version of Rake is very good. I think it lost a bit in translation over to the US. Well worth watching if you can get your hands on a copy.

Two seasons on Netflix, Aussies have just started season 3, looking forward to it. The US version was just produced on the wrong network.

Rake was awesome. When they kept changing day and time it was a recipe for failure. I had to watch it “On Demand”

Rake is an awesome show. Whitty and well written. I think it is one of the most refreshing new series that I’ve come across in years…..Those executives at FOX are mornons. They needed to market the show as once you watch an episode you just get into it….

rake; the most clever and origional series regarding the life and practice of the CA legal profession of our times. Some of the salacious drama of LA Law, the nitty gritty of NYPD Blues and the clever smartness of more recent legal drama. Getting smacked around for being a predictable dead beat; Rockford Files. Mayor who despised the Greg Kannar character, who’s wife was having relations with the rake, ending up strangled during SM event; well done; same with the zoophilia defense for the Gyn on dog.

Sad to see such a creative and funny alternative to the reality genre struggle. To the actors, stage, writers and director….great process and production. I much enjoyed your efforts and show.
