Rake Moving to Fridays; Hell’s Kitchen, Surviving Jack to Debut

Hell's Kitchen season 12FOX is sending Rake to Friday nights starting March 14th. The Greg Kinnear series has been doing very poorly in the ratings, despite having the network’s highest-rated show — American Idol — as a lead-in. Though the network hasn’t cancelled it, Rake is highly unlikely to return for a second season.

The 12th season of Hell’s Kitchen will start airing on March 13th at 8pm. Idol will shift to 9pm. Once Idol is cut down to a half-hour on March 27th, it will be paired with new sitcom Surviving Jack.

Here are the details from FOX:

GORDON RAMSAY RETURNS WITH SEASON 12 OF “HELL’S KITCHEN” AND “AMERICAN IDOL XIII” MOVES TO 9:00 PM THURSDAY, MARCH 13, ON FOX

“RAKE” Moves to Fridays at 8:00 PM, Beginning March 14

“SURVIVING JACK” to Air Thursdays at 9:30 PM, Beginning March 27

The competition heats up when Chef Gordon Ramsay returns with Season 12 of HELL’S KITCHEN, debuting Thursday, March 13 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, followed by the AMERICAN IDOL XIII results show (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), which moves to its new time period. In the Season Premiere of HELL’S KITCHEN, Chef Ramsay splits the latest batch of 20 aspiring restaurateurs into two teams, men vs. women, and asks them to present their signature dishes. The winning team gets treated to an exclusive dinner with Ramsay, while the losing team is left behind to scrub down the kitchen.

RAKE moves to Fridays, beginning March 14 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), followed by all-new episodes of ENLISTED (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) and RAISING HOPE (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT). Don’t miss an all-new episode of RAKE this Thursday, March 6 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), when Keegan (Greg Kinnear) defends an old friend (guest star Anthony Anderson) from his AA days.

Once the AMERICAN IDOL XIII results shows shift to half-hour episodes on Thursday, March 27 (9:00-9:30 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), SURVIVING JACK, the new comedy starring Emmy Award nominee Chris Meloni (“True Blood,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) as a man becoming a dad, while his son is becoming a man, will air at 9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT.

These networks are spitting out shows like they’re nothing. They’re doing too many, too fast, and a lot with similar themes. No wonder shows are getting cancelled. They have shows waiting in line to be aired so they put on a show, give it one or two episodes, then cancel it and put another. They’re not giving the shows any length of time for people to get accustomed to them or to even find them. I see lots of shows being talked about on the Internet that I had never heard of before. Why can’t they give some of these shows a real chance? Ravenswood, Low Winter Sun, and so many others are just scrapped by the wayside. Way to go networks!
