Red Widow: Cancelled by ABC, No Season Two

Red Widow canceledMarta Walraven (Radha Mitchell) won’t have to worry about working for the mob for a second season. Red Widow has been cancelled by ABC after one season and eight episodes.

Red Widow follows a San Francisco housewife and mother who finds herself forced to continue her late husband’s work in organized crime for the sake of her family. The series’ cast includes Radha Mitchell, Clifton Collins Jr., Luke Goss, Sterling Beaumon, Suleka Mathew, Erin Moriarty, Jaime Ray Newman, Jakob Salvati, Lee Tergesen, Wil Traval, Rade Serbedzija, and Goran Visnjic.

The show’s ratings were unfortunately very low right from the start — debuting to a 1.5 demo rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.13 million total viewers.

The numbers got worse for later episodes and Red Widow fell as low as a 0.7 rating and 3.47 million viewers — much too low to warrant a renewal.

What do you think? Are you sorry that the show has been cancelled? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a bigger audience?

Please bring this back or have another Network pick it up! It was a good show that didn’t get a long enough chance to prove itself. I really looked forward to the every week and I and very disappointed.

I don’t think it should be cancelled. The time slot was not great to introduce a new show and it would have been nice to see this come on every week with a new episode. Could have shown it during the off season. Either way, horrible way to end it if it is cancelled. I DVR’d this every time it was on.

I cannot believe they cancelled this series. It was one of my favorites and was looking forward to this each week. Also got other members of my family hooked on it. Plot was great and cast was amazing! I hope someone picks this up in the fall.
Please bring this back ABC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously you guys always do this start up seasons and never finish them. The fact that you guys relay on ratings and polls to see if people like your shows is ridciouls because not everyone who watches them is going to spend their time to rate the show. RED WIDOW was amazing its just as good and interesting as REVENGE I am a college student any my fiends and I were so hooked to red widow it was really good and it wasn’t some stupid fantasy like once upon a time or shows like that. It’s a show that actually shows how things really are in some places. So yes I took the time to find this website and tell you guys how it is because my friends and I are beyond infuriated that you guys would cancel mid season. Don’t base your ratings off websites or random people, try and market better the show because if you guys did the same way you had with revenge then you guys would have never have ran into this problem. I might be one person but I speak for many you guys should renew it and market better. Thank you e

I’m glad to see it go. There is hope the public will see better plots, better actors, tastefully grit, less obvious, gory with a purpose. Maybe ABC will get it right online.

Figures. The ONE show that I take an hour out of my busy life to watch gets cancelled. I knew there was a reason I won’t pay for cable…because tv isn’t worth my time or money. ‘Specially since ABC won’t keep a show that requires more than a 3 second attention span to watch. This show didn’t do well because its story originated in a sophisticated, mature country where people have patience for a good story. We, in America on the other hand, are essentially the redneck retards of the world and this series was clearly over our heads. (Most of us-there are small pockets of class and intelligence-we need to stick together!)

I can’t believe it!!! This was a terrific show. I can’t believe that it got low ratings. I really loved it. Shame on you ABC. Also cancelled was 666 Park ave, another great, creative show that I looked forward to watching. How can ABC be so stupid. I think those executives have been in their office too long. They ought to talk to a lot of people and forget those ridiculous Nielsen ratings. I have absolutely no faith in the validity of them. I am really afraid to start watching another series, because as soon as I enjoy watching it, they will cancel it. How utterly disappointing

One more reason not to watch ABC. They always put on a show with no ending and then cancel it. ABC = Waste of time!

Totally disappointed!! This was a great show, one of the best I had seen for quite a while. Dramas inparticular need a little time to get going, 8 episodes isn’t nearly enough. The chemistry betwee Goran Visnej (Schiller) and Rhada Mitchell (Marta) was the best I have seen in years, you felt an immediate connection from their first scene together. That kind of chemistry is not easy to produce, they were awesome. I can’t believe this is going to lose out to stupid reality tv and goofy comedies. ABC you should have promoted better, during some of your other more popular shows like Castle, DWTS, etc. Not once did I see you pushing this show. I think you gave up on this show after 1 or 2 episodes, and that’s just not enough for a drama. Maybe consider putting it on one of your cable networks? The fans deserve to see this show come back!

This is a really great show just competing with to many other shows on Sunday. I always managed to find the time to watch. Sorry to see it cancelled.

It was a really good show and I am utterly disappointed it didn’t get picked up for season two. ABC should’ve changed its time slot and day. Perhaps Wednesday at 9? 10 pm on Sunday night was too late yet I stayed up to watch it, but I can see how other fans would not watch because of the timing. PLEASE BRING IT BACK. PLEASE!
