I watch a lot of TV and this is by far the best television show on the are and I haven’t see anthing this good since Six Feet Under and the Sopranos. It makes you laugh and cry. I hope there is a way to save this program. Maybe a letter writting campaign to FX will save this program. Let’s get it going Rescue Me fans!!!!!!!!! It’s been known to work in the past.

Being a volunteer fire fighter, and this being the only show on TV that I know of that has fire fighting as a huge part, I’ll be extremely sad to see this show go, like many, I really only watch FX because of this show. I truly believe that you did not push this show enough and that’s why you saw such a drastic decrease in viewers I don’t see commercials for the show as a whole, just for the next episode get Leary on SNL or something of the like and talk about it, maybe it can be like Family Guy and bounce back.

I feel FX has dropped the ball on this one! I noticed already they are showing reruns of Sons of Anarchy on Saturday nights. Where were the rescue me reruns!!!!! No promotion ,no reruns, short seasons. FX are you trying to make this show fail. Please! One of the best kept secrets on TV. Before you cancel it at least try to promote it a little better! I have probably brought on more viewers with my talk about it than you have! Really, I also only watch fx for this show. No more if it ends. Listen up big networks, take on this show!

The only reason this show isn’t as big as it should be, is because it’s NOT on a major network and it only runs in the summer. It needs to be picked up by a major network and run on a traditional fall schedule. The show is that good. I don’t get it. It’s the only show I watch on FX. If they cancel it, I have absolutely no reason to tune in to that channel. They should really try and sell it to either CBS, NBC, ABC or Fox. There is no other TV program out there right now that even compares to this show. I will be so sad if it doesn’t continue.

Rescue Me is a great example of the expanding of the ‘Cimema Vertie’ style television shows that are breaking the mold – along with BSG, and several other great shows –

I hate to see Rescue Me – end – especially after seeing Dennis Leary go from such a good comic/actor – to producer/director – and I think it is honestly his – and – some of the best work I have seen on television or anywhere else.

I just noticed on our FX channel that season 6 premier is coming up on Tuesday, June 29th. I thought it was over as Tommy was shot by his uncle in the bar and lay on the floor behind the bar bleeding. What could season 6ths storyline possible be? Now he haunts people or does he somehow survive the shooting? Should be an interesting two years.

I finally find a decent show and they’re going to end it? “Rescue Me” is an excellent show, with amazing characters/actors and story lines. The writers know when a character is tired and they eliminate them in a timely fashion; it continues to avoid “jumping the shark” and brings a new adventure every episode. It’s the kind of show that really could continue on without losing its viewers and it’s hard to imagine it ever really has. I discovered it after Season Five and have watched it via Netflix. It is a television page-turner; I don’t know how I would have survived watching it as it aired, as the week between episodes would have been painful. Everyone I’ve turned onto the shows feels the same as I do. Meanwhile, “Cougar Town” is still haunting the airwaves.

Americans are Morons, D Leary’s razor edged comedy is too much for 90%+ of viewers to comprehend as fast as he dishes it out. Shows like Rescue Me have a built-in half life of reality garbage TV due to the fact that the viewer HAS TO USE THEIR BRAIN! Ouch, Thinking-That Hurts!

Absolutly … this series is mad like a part of family for me … i almost work as an firefighter and understand a lot of things that happen in Rescue me … nothing all is so “hard” as is shows … but in many things i find myself ^^
So what should be the end …. i think its almost one way , like Cris said … Tommy have to die … but to see him die , i am not sure if wanna see that … maybe it would be better they promise us to make another season and after a few months they quit the project … Would be a hard cut .. finally i am not sure ……

It seems that the major 3 (CBS, NBC, and ABC) networks can have crap like American Idol and Dancing with the Stars and other inane stupid shows which go on forever, but FX had to cancell one of the very few shows that I actually looked forward to each week. The American public truely do not know what good TV drama/comedy is and this is the reason why Rescue Me was cancelled.
Also, lets not forget the almighty dollar which is how the networks base whether a show gets canned or not. Because viewer numbers dropped they weren’t making enough bucks so the idiots at FX decided to cancell a great show.
Gee, I wonder did any of these morons use to work at NBC? Must have been the same “people” who moved Leno to 10 pm! Brilliant!!!!
Good work FX! Keep running the same movies over and over – that’ll save you money while your viewers drop! Adious! I refused to watch your channel from here on out!

In my opinion rescue me is as close to a true firehouse reality show you can get. If it must end I believe that Tommy should die in a fire and be in the viewing watching all his friends and family mourn his loss as he is greeted by his son, brother, father and his fellow fallen firefighters as the ghosts “welcome” him home to where firefighters go. He should first be touched by the words of the mourners then elated by his passing beyond. That would be the greatest tribute we could give to such a troubled soul like Tommy Gavin, in my opinion. I just hope that at least end the show by wraping it all up, like the ghost of tommys family members, the sex afair with his cuz inlaw , his love life with his wife, the love afairs of fellow fire fighters and the daughter that children and families of new york never followed up on while she is traviling with a rich women not seeing her father, and all the other fire fights storys because its not just about Tommy, let the show end with closing all the questions dont leave fans mad and wondering.

I just found out that FX is pulling a boner and dumping FX? Figures, one of the greatest shows on TV. So what if everyone that watches it doesnt have a Nielsen ratings box? Dr. Denis Leary is a God, it sucks that the GREATEST SHOW of all time has to come to end but, if we face the facts we all knew it was coming. Dr. Denis along with his colleges from Resume Me have played such great roles (Although it was better earlier then later) nothing should be taken away from them. To be able to tie his real life into the tragedy of 9/11 and make everyone feel even more consumed just proves how much of a genius Peter and Dr. Denis are. Nothing should ever be taken away from those men and women who gave there livese that day, but who could have told a story like Peter and Dr. Denis have that would relate even a little bit. That’s what Dr. Denis and Peter set out to do.

My hat is off to Denis Leary for all the charity work he does for the FDNY and surrounding departments. This is a show no one wants to see go, but if we think of the facts, all true Resume Me fans will let Denis Leary end this series the way he see’s fit. Because, let face it, what can we argue about this series to date….

Hats off to Dr. Denis and Peter for having to balls to take such a tragedy in American History and tell there story

I am a late comer to watching this show, picking up the five seasons on Netflix. But I’m hooked now.

Season six should focus on Tommy’s physical and emotional recovery. It would be the most painful journey he’s ever faced. Bottom line, he’s never really grieved for the deaths of his cousin, his son, his father, his brother, his marriage, his youth or the promise and hope his life once held.

Actually facing the demons of 9/11? What about his own shame for not going into the second tower? Is Tommy ready to do that sober?

Real heroism on his part would be to seek sobriety for himself, his family and his friends. But he’s too terrified of the implications.

Obviously, I’m deep in analysis mode from recent viewings.

Brilliant, engaging show. Writing is phenomenal. Characters compelling, dark and real. Hilarious one-liners and predicaments. Bravo.

Why would they end such a good show. There is nothing but reality shows and infomercials on TV now and quite frankly, I don’t want to waste my valuable time watching all that piffle. Rescue Me at least has a story involved, like Magnum PI and other shows like it. I think it is really a very dumb move on the part of FX at a time when ratings are so important. Just my humble opinion.

i will be very disappointed when the show ends…it is by far my favorite. i think the show should end with there being a horrible fire, thinking tommy will die but he wont, and hell drive off on the rig and you see all of the men that died on 9/11 in their crew sitting in the rig with him. just my opinion…the opinion of just a viewer

I have recently been turned back on to Rescue Me, a couple small things called Iraq and Afghanistan kept me from watching the show. Anyway, I am totally addicted to the show and its characters now. I will watch three or four episodes a day. I just finished the fifth season and can’t wait for the sixth. I hope FX will re-evaluate there decision to shut it down. Hey look at Family Guy and how much peaple watch it after it came back, 18-35 year olds.

Rescue Me is my favorite tv show of all time by far but I would like to see it go out on top. Seasons 1, 2, and 3 were stellar whiloe season 4 wasn’t very good in my opinion. I was happy to see the stories in season 5 were much better (maybe Tommy drinking again made the show better) but I have high hopes that the show will end with a bang. Sad to see it go though.

Rescue me is the best show on television but the plans to wrap up the show are jusified. The story lines have got better over the seasons and it is best to go out with a bang when the show is still on top. I have seen too many shows that try to stay on the air for another season after season and the content becomes stale.

One example of a show which stopped with everyone wanting more was Deadwood. Rescue me should do the same.

I am an Emergency Nurse in London Ontario and I must say this show had me the first time I watched it. As time went by I started to feel close to all of the characters. This show is as close as you can ever get to being the real thing. As a matter of fact if someone did not know it was a show they likely would think it was a real recording. Please do not cancel the best show on TV. My heart would be broken. You don’t want to hurt a ER. nurses heart do you? If you cancel this beloved show I will never forgive you and you better make it up to me so I can meet the cast one on one and tell them how wonderful they are. Andrea Roth is amazing and I take my hat off to her as she is from Woodstock not far from London. am holding

my favorite show. i thought after the shield nothing could get close but rescue me is better.
as far as ending the show i would like like an 2hr series finale in which all the characters die together but separate at the same time starting from the smallest characters like needles moving up and eventually to tommy. and while they are dying each characters story is seen from their prospective.

I’ve watched the show since it started. I’ve liked that Tommy still sees the ghosts of his cousin and others. But the Sheila-Janet story just got old. It was refreshing to see another woman attracting Tommy. I also got tired of seeing Tommy in bed all the time. What about the other guys? Franco is hot. I want to see him bare chested more often. I want to see more thrilling rescue scenes like before. They never show those anymore. How about showing a little more gore.

Love the show. It is one of the only shows I look forward to. Of course it has to end. I am sure there is going to be another Ghost Whisperer type show or another FBI/Police investigation hideous murder or rape show that needs to be made. Rescue me is a very real and true to life show in the way the characters act in everyday life, especially in the firehouse. The whole Cast is perfect. The whole Janet and Sheila drama was starting to get old but the show is still great. At least it will go out on its own terms. Never forget 9/11.

I think the show has gotten totally absurd. It depicts Americans of Irish descent and firefighters like complete and total idiots. That may have been the firefighter of yesteryear but I assure you it is not the firefighter of today. There is long waiting list for people to be firefighters since 9/11 and it takes a lot of skill, agility, strength, courage and intelligence to be a firefighter, versus these bozos on this show. Regarding Irish-Americans, granted some do like to drink, but not all are as stupid as these on the show. The stories cannot be believed. They are inconsistent, stupid, racist, and just totally and completely absurd. The last two seasons have been the pits. I will not watch the last two. It should have been canceled years ago. It is a waste of money for FX to keep it. The show defames women, blacks, gays, Catholics and people of Irish descent. The characters of Uncle Teddy and Shelia are particularly moronic, and offensive. Trash it. Waste of film.

Why watch on TV when you can see on DVD without commercials and when you have time. We began watching in June on DVD and have only two DVDs left to catch up. Are DVD rental and sales #’s taken into account in these decisions? As others have said, Rescue Me is the best show on now by far.

This was a truly great show at one time… but not this year.

It’s been boring most of the time this season, and you get the feeling that Denis Leary was allowed too much control. Thus we see his improbably hot wife and hot girlfriend constantly fighting over this troubled, aging, alcoholic tomcat.

It used to be an ensemble show with strong subplots, but the bulk of each episode this year is all about Tommy’s women and their drama. Pfooie.

Sad to see it go. Should focus more on firehouse living then the private lives of the firefighters.Way to many commercials and the gap from season to season sucks. The last episode should be a tribute to the F.D.N.Y. the greatest fire department in the world.

This is one of the best shows on television. What a great blend of comedy and drama. The acting on this show surpasses any crap that has been in the movie theater that past year.

It is a sad state of affairs that FX is going to cancel this series. Perhaps FX should look at DVD sales and posts such as these before they decide to 86 this show. I already feel bad enough that Nip/Tuck is going into its final run, now Rescue Me too?!

Keep Rescue Me going. I`m a paramedic for the Lexington Fire department. In Lexington, Ky. And me all the other paramedics at station 20 were upset, and offended when we heard rescue Me was going to be cancelled.
We live that show. FX should get their heads out of their asses and keep Rescue Me o the air for a very long time.

Yes the last two seasons we not as strong as the first three, but its the only reason I tune into the FX network, If rescue me would drop some of the old stuff like Gavins fling with Shelia and the on- off thing with his estranged wife and focus more on fire fighting issues there would be surge in viewing. That being said FX should consider the fact that a large number of people are wacthing the show via webcast to aviod the long comercail breaks that irriatate us all and try to brainwash us to buy crap we dont need.

The show is awesome………It’s brillance surpasses many of it’s contempories……..Unfortunately in the entertainment business today, it’s all about money……Sad. Fox wouldn’t know if something good hit them………I will miss the show…..like many others…….My hope is that another network will pick up the series……..

I love Rescue Me! I watch every season. I hate to hear that it will end. Hopefully there will be another firefighter show that can be made after this. There just aren’t enough firefighter shows out there.

The first few seasons were awesome. They kept me laughing and on the edge of my seat. This last season, however, has been more of a soap opera as opposed to the Rescue Me of old. It seems that over half of each episode is spent focusing on Tommy and Sheila or Janet rather than firefighting or firestation life. As a firefighter, I much enjoyed the station bantor and the quick-witted sarcasm Rescue Me once possessed. If the writers brought that kind of entertainment back then the ratings would probably go back up. Sad to see it go, but at the rate it’s going, I don’t know if I’ll make it to the final episode.

love the show. It just makes me crack up. Don’t want it to end! I am happy though i thought that tonight was the last episode and there was nothing to look for after this. Atleast we have till 2011.

i didnt even get to see seasons one and two i bought them cause i always wanted to to watch it but never got around too it and there i was hooked…..i have all the other seasons and i am truly disappointed the series will end in 2011 i hate this…..denis leary’s s rescue me is truly the last great t.v. show and when this series ends t.v. will die i will definatley never have another good show too watch….thanks alot fx….u have ruined the last good thing we had…..
