TNT recently premiered a new police drama, Rizolli & Isles, starring Angie Harmon. Will the TV show be a big success or be cancelled like her last detective series, Women’s Murder Club?
In Rizzoli & Isles, tough detective Jane Rizzoli (Harmon) teams up with serious forensic pathologist Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander). The rest of the cast includes Bruce McGill, Lee Thompson Young, Lorraine Bracco, and Jordan Bridges.
The show debuted on July 12th, with a lead-in from The Closer. The series premiere attracted a 1.5 in the demo and 7.55 million viewers. Not only is that an excellent sampling but it nearly tied its established lead-in and came in third place among all of the week’s cable shows. It set a record as the highest-rated debut for a commercial-supported cable series.

In week two, Rizzoli & Isles actually beat The Closer’s demo numbers. The episode again drew a 1.5 rating in the demo but total viewers slid to 7.27 million. For week three, on Monday night, viewership dropped — to a 1.3 in the demo and 6.548 million viewers.
While the ratings are still very good for the cable series, this week’s ratings drop is not a good sign. Hopefully it’s not the start of a trend. You may recall that TNT’s Raising the Bar also set ratings records when it debuted. After just two seasons, it was cancelled. It remains to be seen if Rizolli & Isles will follow in its footsteps.

LOVE this show. There needs to be closure for the last episode. COME ON!!!! And this show is a sexier Bones with kickass female leads
Love Riz n Is! Plz keep it on the tube… year round would work great for me. Could b a replacement for closer. But I hated to see that rebellious cop blow herself up. No chance for comeback on that too short series. Don’t do the same with Riz & Is,
I love the show you take off everything that a more mature viewers like. i hate all those stupid reality shows. Ever year it seem the head of the channels cancel anything good

What can I say? Rizzoli and Isles is one of the finest shows on TV. It has all the qualities of an outstanding show. Its got action, suspense, drama, comedy and of course its got Angie Harmon. Need I say more?? This is one show that should be renewed.
This show is really good. Reminds me a lot of Crossing Jordan and the characters that you couldn’t help but love. To end this show and not let the viewers who love the characters see what happens to Frankie and Jane is preposterous. It would affect the viewers respect for the big wigs at TNT if the push a show so hard, but don’t at least follow up and give it a chance to survive in the ratings. And the fact that they are ending closer just shows how little the big wigs actually listen to the people who actually watch their channel. What a shame….cancelling a show that has promise makes me less eager to tune to TNT when they are promoting new shows–why get attached to a new show if the chances are slim that the show will continue.

Loved Rizzoli & Isles and was really shocked to find a decent program to watch in summer. Don’t programmers realize that not all viewers love “reality TV”. It gave
me something to watch while waiting for the Closer to return. Really disappointed to
hear that the Closer will only be returning for another season.
As an author, there are few crime shows that actually have good writing…Criminal Minds is one of the best, but this is right up there. The plots are interesting, and even when it is predictable, it always gives a twist and does the unexpected. The writing is solid and the acting is outstanding. The trend to only give shows a few episodes to prove themselves is ridiculous. That’s like telling people to decide if they like a book after reading a paragraph and not getting to know the characters. After getting attached to shows like Jericho, Women’s Murder Club, Chase that have great characters and well-developed plots, it’s disheartening to know that most of what makes it on TV is meeting a 14-22 age demographic when it’s those of us in the 30-48 rage who actually watch these shows and buy the products that support them. We need to eliminate 80% of all reality shows and offer more well-written dramas with wide-range appeal. This one should be a keeper!

Enjoyed Rizzoli and Isles very much during the summer months. Each week was extremely interesting and I found the series very well made. After hearing sadly that the Closer will be airing its final season I hate to think that this new series will not be reairing. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW.
This show needs to stay on the air. Angie and Sasha make a good team and it isnt another reality show. I wouldnt mind seeing this on for years to come like NCIS,Criminal Minds, The Closer need I say more. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW
