TV show description:
This police drama is based on the Rizzoli/Isles series of novels by Tess Gerritsen. The series revolves around a police detective and a medical examiner who, although they’re complete opposites, combine their talents to solve crimes in Boston.
Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) has the mindset that the criminals she’s chasing are monsters. As a younger girl, with a housewife mom and plumber dad, she saw a police officer on career day at school and decided that was the job for her. She wanted the gun, the badge, and mostly the respect. She worked her way up from a beat patrolman to detective in vice and narcotics, then finally to the homicide unit. Her philosophy in tracking down the criminals is to make it personal — get angry and never give up.
By contrast, it wasn’t until her adult years that Dr. Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) figured out she wanted to become a forensic pathologist. She always knew she was different than the other kids and would hide in her room reading and dissecting dead mice. Aside from being a scholar, she was also an accomplished pianist and honor student. All of this led her to student medicine but, after medical school, she realized she wasn’t good at the emotions needed for treating living patients and switched to forensics.
Maura knows she doesn’t have much in common with the police she works with and knows that they call her “Queen of the Dead” behind her back. This includes Jane’s former and present partners. Jane’s former partner, Detective Vince Korsak (Bruce McGill), is very much her mentor. Korsak has always treated her like a daughter, and doesn’t get along well with her new partner, Detective Barry Frost (Lee Thompson Young). He’s great when it comes to anything that deals with technology, but gets sick at the sight of blood. Still, he’s just as loyal to Jane as Korsak.
Also very loyal is Angela Rizzoli (Lorraine Bracco), Jane’s mom. She’s the epitome of an Italian mother — somewhat overbearing and very protective of her cubs. She claims to have not slept since Jane became a cop and wishes she’d be a little more feminine. She’s not the only one in the family to feel this way about her, as her little brother Frankie (Jordan Bridges) feels very protective of his big sis. He’s trying to make his way up the police force ladder so also feels like he’s a little in her shadow.

Don’t take the show away
Please don’t cancel the series. One of the best on TV.
One of my favorite shows. Why cancel this show when you renew so many bad ones. This one was funny and entertaining. I will think twice about watching anything on TNT or TBS
Sooo sad to hear this is the last season. Its a great show and l really look forward to all the new seasons. Please rethink your decision to take this off the air. Its a great cast with great storylines. Rethink please, not easy to find something so good. Love Jane and Maura and all.
Here goes another great show! 🙁 I hope they don’t put something stupid and boring on like Naked and Afraid or more Kardashians. Whoever watches shows like that must be a real bore!
I can’t believe they are canceling the best show on tv. I really hope someone reconsiders.
Please do not cancel this show. My husband and I look forward to each episode. With all the junk that is aired these days, I cannot figure out why a show that has had such high ratings would be cancelled. I hope TNT will reconsider their decision or another network will pick them up.
Please keep this great show on television! Great people and story lines.
Would you please keep this awesome show on your network. I will miss it a lot as it was great and so were the characters!
it is a good, refreshing show; just adore both characters, funny and a lot of spunk, please do not cancel this show.
I can’t believe they are cancelling this series with all the other series that need to be cancelled. I enjoy this program when it is on. All I know is that stations don’t get new viewers for the series they cancel it. But thry don’t think about the viewers who are faithful to the station by watch Rizzoli & Idles. Please change your mind…….
I can’t believe that they want to cancel Rizzoli & Isles, It’s one of the best show that is on the air. WE the viewers pay a fortune every month for TV you think TN would want to make the viewers happy and to keep watching their station, IF THEY TAKE OFF RIZZOLI WE THE PEOPLE SHOULD CANCEL TNT . Like one of the other viewer said they will probably put on one of those STUPID REALITY SHOWS. I don’t give a care about the oh so rich and dumb. !!!!
This show is one of the best I have seen in a long time, Please don’t cancel it
This should not be cancelled. Rizzoli & Isles is a great show. And there are not a lot of great shows out there
This sucks so love this show…its like when they canceled the mentalist and pshyc…there are much more stupid shows that could be canceled like major crimes..dont get me wrong its a good series but not better than rizzo.
