Scrubs: ABC TV Show Cancelled, No Season 10

ScrubsAfter seasons of poor ratings and several cast members moving on, ABC has finally put the Scrubs TV show to rest.

Scrubs follows hospital life as seen through the eyes of Dr. J.D. Dorian (Zach Braff). He left Sacred Heart last season but returns occasionally to help teach a new crop of med students. Others in the cast include Donald Faison, John C. McGinley, Ken Jenkins, Sarah Chalke, Eliza Coupe, Kerry Bishe, Michael Mosley, and Dave Franco.

Last May, despite poor ratings, ABC decided to try to squeeze one more year out of the veteran sitcom. The reason? ABC also produces Scrubs and stood to make big money on additional episodes in syndication.

The network kicked off season nine late last year and registered a low 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demo and only 4.5 million viewers. The numbers dropped even further and ABC decided to burn off most of the remaining episodes in January.

In March, ABC aired the final episode of the season. The network’s website promoted it as the “series finale.” We contacted a representative for ABC who told us that it was a mistake but nobody was in any rush to change it.

Now, it appears that ABC has finally cancelled Scrubs after nine seasons on the air. With more than 180 episodes, the sitcom won’t be coming back.

What do you think? Should Scrubs have returned after last season’s Braff send off? Did you like the “med school” setting and characters?

I was a very avid fan of scrubs, and thought that season 9 was ABC’s way of killing off a great sitcom. Fans dont like to see big changes in the lineup of there favorite cast, and for a total overhaul for season 9 sending them back to med school was boring to say the least. Zach Braff was a great lead for the sitcom, and taking him out of the picture wasn’t didn’t sit well with me. Season 10 should be made, and have the cast finish med school, and take us back to core cast as much as possible.

Med school itself was a blooper. The rest was amazing. If they could just go back to Sacred Heart, minus the med school part, I would LOVE to see a Season 10.

Scrubs does really need to return. This is a very funny sitcom and bring much enjoyment to me while watching it. I find the new characters interesting and they have really made a good new starting and left it open for the season to continue, it was a mistake to drop the show because of its early poor rankings. The rankings are only because of the large change the show has taken, but a show like scrubs really did need a fresh start and it really should have continues to air season 10!!!

NOO!!!!! I just finished season 9 and really taken to heart to see this hilarious sitcom come to an end :( . Man, I have never found a tv series as funny as Scrubs. The storyline was awesome and well played out by the actors. I thought the med school was pretty good except for the (aussie chick; no offense) and maybe could of ended a lot better. Damn, so gutted right now..oh well, on with life now

I would love to see another season of Scrubs. Yes, I agree that the med school idea was a little hard to get used to during the first couple of episodes but I really started to like the characters by the middle of it. Besides, we haven’t seen Elliot and JD’s baby, Turks grown kids, Carla, Sam or Kim. It’s an absolute travesty honestly. The last episode of season 9 was a huge let down, it ended on an open thought. Give me some closure. Let me see grown up Jack, and the Janitor, Cole as a surgeon and the relationship between Drew and Denise. It is depressing to think that all I have left is returning to season one to reminisce. Sad network television. Just sad. ;,,,(

is dissapointed that scrubs is cancelled. the med-schoool version showed real potential and i believe it could carry on without the original cast members

yea, i agree. they have milked scrubs for all it was worth. don’t get me wrong, the entire series was awesome but I personally think they should’ve left out med school and just call it a day at the end of season 8. med school was just a repeat of season 1 so really nothing new, no new jokes. all good things comes to an end. but all in all, i loved scrubs a lot.

The first seasons was great. Then after a while everything started beeing boring. But the last season was great with “med school”. It was like a new great start and Dr. Cox and Turk were still in the picture and i really think it was a great restart… They should really do one more season…
