Sean Saves the World: Cancelled by NBC, Production Shut Down

sean saves the world ratingsNBC has lowered the boom on their Sean Hayes sitcom. Production on Sean Saves the World has been shut down and the low-rated comedy has been cancelled.

The network had initially ordered 13 episodes and then gave the show a five episode back-order. A baker’s dozen have aired and EW reports that two others have been produced.

Sean Saves the World was already scheduled to be pre-empted this week and then Olympics coverage will take over the schedule. The network may or may not get around to releasing the remaining pair of episodes at some point after that.

The series stars Hayes as a single gay father who struggles to balance his responsibilities to his daughter and mother at home with his demanding job. The rest of the cast includes Megan Hilty, Echo Kellum, Samantha Isler, Thomas Lennon, and Linda Lavin.

Hayes tweeted about the bad news, writing, “Thanks to @SeanSavesWorld actors & crew & @NBC for a wonderful opportunity. Looking forward to Obama’s minimum wage increase to $10/hr.”

What do you think? Did you like Sean Saves the World? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled?

I thought the show funny and cute! Sean was wonderful in it. I thought everyone fit together well. Give it more time. There shows I can’t see because, there too many good ones same time. Can only watch 2 and record 2. So give it more time move it to another time slot. Note: there NOTHING on Friday Saturday nights to watch put it in there see what it does. Get good shows on weekends too.
Thank you!

I can’t believe they canceled “Sean Saves the World” while the Krapdashions and Honey MooMoo stay on. This show was just down right hillarious! The characters clicked, no awkwardness between them. I hope it’s picked up by another station. Loved it!!

This show was a crack up! There are few shows that make me laugh out loud. This was one of them. Whoever picks the shows that stay on or get cancelled, need to have his/her head examined. This was a good one. Instead the mindless, scripted “reality” shows, and adult “cartoons” stay on for years. Ridiculous.

Laugh out loud funny- I loved Sean save the World, looked forward to it every week and made sure I was home to watch. I can’t believe NBC would choose NOT to renew such a funny, creative, witty banter, program with an incredibly talented cast who work so beautifully together. So the inane attention getting dribble of those mindless reality shows and the twice weekly repeat of a show ‘in case you missed it’ is so much cheaper to fill your evening airways with. Well you lost me. so, so sad, I loved the guaranteed chance to laugh for a half an hour!

Huge mistake! I just loved this program . . . Looked forward to it each week. Not a lot of good shows on TV these days. This one will truly be missed
