Six Degrees: ABC Drama Finally Coming Back!

Six Degrees on ABCABC’s Six Degrees told the stories of six very different New Yorkers who are actually connected in various and unknown ways. The series starred Jay Hernandez, Erika Christensen, Hope Davis, Dorian Missick, Bridget Moynahan, and Campbell Scott, and was co-executive produced by Lost’s J.J. Abrams.

Six Degrees debuted on September 21, 2006 and was pulled from the airwaves after only six episodes due to low ratings. ABC assured fans of the show that the series would return in January. That didn’t happen. In January, ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPhearson said of The Nine and Six Degrees, “those two actually may get back on the air in (primetime).” Not a guarantee for sure.

The one promising point was this: though ABC only ordered 13 episodes, Six Degrees is actually still in production in New York City. The cast and crew reportedly took some time off to creatively retool the series and Josh Charles (who you may remember from Aaron Sorkin’s Sports Night) has been added to the cast.

ABC has just announced that Six Degrees will return to primetime on Friday, March 23rd at 9pm. It’s unknown how long it will remain in that slot but hopefully fans can see the seven unaired episodes.

Now, if the revisions to Six Degrees are successful and the show attracts decent ratings, it’s possible that ABC could give the go-ahead for future episodes and perhaps even a second season. It’s a bit of a long shot but you never know. Stay tuned! TV Series Finale home page

Of course it had only 4.6M (3/23) and 3.2M (3/30) viewers. There was no advertising that I was aware of. I stumbled onto it on 3/24 at 11:30pm having no idea it was attempting to make a comeback. It was the only show I made time to watch during the week and then it was gone. Then I went to watch it 4/2 and got Wife Swap (ugh!) Yes, I agree. It’s difficult to find shows with any sense of intelligence to them anymore.

I was so excited that six degrees was back and now I hear they have pulled the show and for good!! Of course, thats what happens if you schedule a show on Fridy night!! The show was great! Loved it and it was classy and intelligent and a change from the old boring shows. Of course they cant show it on Thursday coz of Gray’s natomy but please do anything to keep the show and advertise it more!!

I love this show. I was hooked even from the very 1st episode. I’ve even gone online and watched two episodes more than once! I love every character and every storyline. This is a GREAT show!!! Please keep it on the air, I promise you’ll have me telling all my friends to get in on it and I won’t miss an episode!

what a shame…why bother to put it back on the air and claim to have 7 episodes then not even give it a chance. Jeeze…it tanked because the network apparently didn’t want to see it succeed!

I would like to express my discontent with your plans on canceling “Six Degress”. My sister and I watched the recently air episode and were very inpressed with the cast and story line. We loved the show! We were looking forward to future episodes. Please give it another chance!!

What a shame. I, along with many others, LOVED 6 degrees and now it’s off air again!?? 6 Degrees along with The Class were 2 shows that I actually looked forward to watching. Maybe the network should re-evaluate what type of households have a rating device. Seems like those shows that include intellectual humor are leaving and shows like Wife Swap are staying- What’s wrong with our society??

Hey bring back Six Degrees its an assume show.I think the problem with many shows is finding the right time slot. Online.is great becuase you can watch it anytime and all of my friends watch tv more on their computers than on an actual TV since college life is so hectic. Six Degrees awesome show.

PLEASE continue with Six Degrees, whether it be online or on-air. I’m not sure why it hasn’t been on, but I love seeing how the characters always end up coming back to one another. It is a GREAT SHOW!!

I agree with all of these posts. This is a great show–I think it is much better than gray’s anatomy and without a lot of the pretense. A lot of the drama in grey’s anatomy reminds me too much of ER or a million replica doctor shows. Six degrees shows a varied group of actors; and I like the tempo and the variety and the fact that you can’t predict what’s going to happen. I did not know the show had come back, if I had known, I would have watched–I’ve watched all the online episodes.
