Despite being a lead character, Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) was killed off during the drama’s season three finale, sparking major criticism from fans. Recently, the network announced there will be a new female co-lead for season four.
During the TCA summer press tour, Madden said renewing the show for a fourth season was a hard decision:
[It] was obviously a very hard conversation. Crane and Abbie were the spine of the show in a lot of ways, so it was difficult to figure out of it was right thing to do, to continue or not.”
He later added that season four is “really fun” so far:
[They] pitched us an array of new characters and new situations for Crane to get into. And the first seven scripts are really fun. We think there’s a lot of good new stories to tell.”
Season four of Sleepy Hollow is expected to premiere in early 2017.
What do you think? Are you a fan of Sleepy Hollow? Will you watch season four without Abbie?
