It was a very positive start for the series and was the first time that the network won the timeslot (other than the Olympics) since November 2008. On the downside, a significant number of viewers stopped watching between the first and second half hours. Will this series last? We’ll have to see how well Smash performs over the next several weeks.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Smash TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

I LOVE SMASH!!! Please please don’t cancel it! I am hooked!
Smash is a great show with lots of potential. Don’t cancel it. Stop canceling all the great shows out there, like Terra Nova.
Leave it on it could be great without so many commercials
I love Smash! I usually do not watch this type of show but I am hooked with this one and would love to see it renewed.
Smash is THE BEST show that I’ve watched other than glee. Please do not cancel it, things just got interesting when it came to Julia and Michael!!! I need to see what happens next! I love this show. Megan and Katherine have really good voices. All I need is to hear Julia / Debra Messing to sing a lot then I’m gonna love this show 1000000% more.
I’m not big on musical tv shows. Movies either.
I absolutley LOVE Smash! It’s nice be able to watch something other than reality TV. Love all the charactors, storyline and it just keeps getting better every week. The acting, singing and dancing are awesome! Keep it steaming and competitive. I’m praying for a Season 2, 3 and 4.
I love SMASH! Love the music & the dancing & the actors – love the depth of characters. PLEASE don’t cancel. We have more than enough forensic/reality/comedy shows for now.
Stopped watching after 2 episodes.
I absolutley love the show! Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty and all the cast are excellent, and I enjoy the musical numbers. I enjoy the “look” the show gives at what it takes to bring a broadway show to life…..Please keep SMASH on the air!
What a compelling show! I cared about the characters from the first episode, found it incredibly entertaining and look forward to each new episode. The whole cast is superb but who knew McPhee was such a gifted actress as well as singer. Why are the networks in such a hurry to talk about cancellation when a show is this new and has had the obvious impact it has? It seems that, whenever they finally get it right they can’t wait to screw up. This is the absolute only show I’ve been excited about in a decade besides House. Hope they’ll let this show alone, let it find its audience, then settle in for a nice long run.
It is an amazing show with a huge amount of talent!!!! Katherine McPhee is amazing!!!! She needs to be Marilyn and that will boost the ratings!!!!!
Haha that’s laughable. Ratings plummeted before they named a Marilyn. Perhaps Smash is crashing BECAUSE they put all their eggs in the Katharine McPhee basket. She has as much stage presence as an coat rack.
so boring!! toss it!!
i think Smash is such a good show!!! it shouldnt be canceled at all!!! it tells bout wut goes on behind the curtains of broadway. I, not having any experience about going to broadway to see a play, find it exciting to see how and wut the people do to bring a show come alive. SMASH SHOULD NOT BE CANCELED!!!
-Thanks you<3
I love Smash! Please NBC don’t take my Smash away! I’m very picky and it’s the first show in a long while that I like.
