Such is the one of the best TV (Smith) shows that I have seen in this couple years. Better than CSI (Repeatedly the old type stories), “Smith” got an amazing cast and a fantastic story line. I can’t imagine why? why cancelled the shows, even I can’t found the DVD on H?V(HK), Come on!

i got hooked on this show only after watching few minutes trailers and clips on youtube. not even close to a full episode, but i still find it entertaining. it’s ashamed though this show has been axed before it gets a chance to bloom. Badly done on CBS part. i dont know how this is ‘the worst new show’ since this is far more promising and entertaining than jericho or ghost whisper. i hope they bring the show back!

This show was very cool and had an excellent cast which is more than likely what broke their budget! Because in the world of film making isn’t always about “The Budget”?
I really liked this show and it was pretty well written and the acting was feature film quality. One of the better TV shows that I have seen in the past 5 to 10 years. It’s a shame that CBS can’t spot a winner when they have one right under their nose?

This show is a typical example of brilliance that was labeled based on ratings and not on content. It’s got an amazing cast with a fantastic story line that could have gone in so many AMAZINING different directions but was never allowed to grow. I will sacrifice a goat kill twelve hookers and burry them in the desert and run a school bus full of nuns off a bridge in order to see this show back on the air

I actually loved the show. I’m a big fan of all the cast, great actors and a great storyline aswell. I can’t imagine why it didn’t blow off! Alot of good series that has to do with criminials have been canceled. Sopranos was really tha last one and we all know how that went (Classic). We have too many CSI series…

Most TV is so bad, it’s unwatchable. Bad plots, trite, and poorly acted. So often I find myself rolling my eyes.

Not with Smith. This is one of the best shows ever made.

Who was interviewed to determine the outcome of this show? Smith is awesome! I just heard about it last month and have been watching reruns on the 101. Cast was great. Plot was awesome. Definately DVR worthy. CBS cancelled the only two shows I tuned in for…Smith and the Unit.

Great show… have watched all 7 episodes on Direct Tv 101 about 4 times… each time I am angry that there is no eighth episode… lol. Want to know what happens to the characters… too many loose ends. This series beats about 90 % of the junk that passes for programming on the networks. Who is running the show?

This was such an excellent show. I can’t believe that they canceled this. It was intelligent, and very entertaining. With an all-star cast, and creators of some of the biggest shows on TV, there has to be something behind the scenes that happened to cancel this show. It’s BS and it would have been a great way for Ray Liota to rise back to the top. I’ll miss this show. I especially wish they would have at least finished the season.

Super Upset. Smith brought a fresh new taste to television. It was a unique series with a spice of suspense. I am truly dissapointed it was cancelled. For those of you that have DirecTV, you can catch the whole season on the 101 Network.

I truly hope another network picks this show up. I believe it was an excellent show.

I’m almost certain this comment will never be read by anyone at CBS or any major media franchise what with it being a year and a half since the show aired but I just wanted to register my utter disappointment that a new show as challenging as Smith was cancelled after only 8 episodes. I watched the pilot last night on the UK’s ITV4 and while I wasn’t shocked that Smith completely outshone ITV4′s regularly abismal programming I was shocked to discover that not only did the show get axed but it got axed in the states after 3 episodes. What is TV coming to?!
I understand that the level of violence displayed in the show isn’t every left wing reactionaries cup of tea but come on, a show with production values this high with a further 5 episodes in the can cancelled mid series. Do you really expect anyone with half a brain and any knowledge of the media to buy the fact it was cancelled due to poor ratings? Did anyone order a side of censorship?
Anyway, its pointless me continuing this rant but I just wanted to point out the glaringly obvious to the likes of CBS in the US and any of the coma inducing channels in the UK that might actually look at forums like this. Not everyone wants to watch homogenous, bland, “nice” TV. It made a very refreshing change for a show to challenge its viewers to watch the drama unfold from the other side of the fence. I’m not sure how I would have felt after a few episodes if one of Bobby’s callous band of theives and killers got their comeupance but I’m almost certin that I’ll never know now and thats a damn shame. Boo hiss to CBS and anyone else who stiffles “real”, challenging and gritty drama like this. Heres to Network heads who’s stupid rash decisions make TV duller every season. Anyway, its back to HBO re runs and DVD boxed sets for me.

This is a true travisty, in my humble opinion Smith was one of the if not the best show to come from CBS in a long time and am outraged that it would be cancelled when so much sh*t is’nt. I recomend all reading this visit CBS.com feedback (bottom of page) and plead with CBS to put the show back on the air

Here in the UK we got about 6 or 7 episodes so we did better than our US cousins. BUT having said that I would almost have preferred it if ITV had not bought the series at all as they KNEW that it was never going to reach it’s conclusion.
Smith is/was quality TV with quality writing, acting, production values & cast. And looking at the bilge that makes up the UK schedules it makes me sick

Yes, Smith was cancelled in October 2006. If you saw more than a few episodes, you saw more than most in the U.S.

Both myself and my chap couldn’t understand why Smith was not on TV the past couple of weeks, just thought we had missed a message at the end of the show saying that the programme would follow in 2 weeks or something, so I searched the Interenet to find out why.

Then I see this that Smith has been cancelled…..is this true?? cancelled forever??

When was this announced? I don’t remember being informed that the programme had been cancelled?

This was the best show eeeevvvveeeer. When i was i brasil i watched all the 8 episodes. This was the only and i really mean the only show ever i stayed home for bought my beers and snacks and my night was great. Must be another reason for canceling because it seems almost every guy on the planet loves the show when they see it. (im from holland by the way)

Please add us to the list of disappointed viewers who were looking forward to the next episode of Smith, only to not be able to find it . Smith reminds me of the Shark show with James Woods. Where do you get the statistics for what people are supposedly watching? Used to like Everwood, Northern Exposure, etc., If Smith was cancelled due to the Government’s comments, again down to a person or panel or ?, there should be alot of other shows cancelled. TV for the most part, does not portray real life, with the exception of a few shows, so why not let viewers enjoy the Smith Show? Ray Liotta is a good actor..he has that look …

Welcome to the new network mentality. Whether you liked it or not “Happy Hour” on FOX got the same treatment. 3 shows and out. That show was up against Gray’s Anatomy and this one against Boston Legal. Do they honestly think a new show is going to get any kind of ratings against these other power rating shows after 3 episodes. You’ve got to run these against the repeats or move the time slots against the competitors new shows, not their centerpieces.

I just found out tonite that the show had been cancelled. I only saw 2 episodes and then I couldnt remember which night it was on or the actual name of it. When I couldnt find it browsing on the DVR I freaked out and pulled up this site!!!! I thought the show was fantastic and I love Ray Liotta in just about anything. I agree CBS is stupid in pulling the show after 3 lousy episodes. The same thing probably happened to tons of people…somebody! Bring it back! Give it more hype this time!!!!

Dear Execs:
I will continue to watch Smith if you will continue to air it, any day or time. Ray Liotta and the rest of the cast are GREAT! The plot is smooth and sophisticated, and not incoherent as some seem to suggest.

I do not and will not watch Jericho or 3lbs. Oh, I also will not watch repeats of CSI. C’mon guys!

Smith was one of the few new shows worth watching. I was already attached to it.

Why would you cancel a show after two episodes? You should given the show more of a chance and now I am left wondering if you’ll bring it back.

There are so many terrible shows out there and yet you keep them.

I really loved the show and I hope it comes back, the only thing I would have to argue is the blond good looking guy was abit if a loose canon, kind of immature. Stealing bikes, etc but in all, the sahow was great and you never gave it a chance to become anything more than two shows!!!

The whole Nielsen rating system is flawed. Always has been since the advent of VCRs and DVRs (and now video iPods). Nielsen is supposed to represent an average sampling … has anyone ever known someone with a Nielsen box?!

The technology is there to capture viewers who schedule their Tivo/DVR to record shows (i.e. Tivo’s database). This should “count” as a viewer, whether viewed a day later or a month later. How about fan websites, such as this one? Could they not be considered as some form of a show’s “popularity”? Better still is the ability for cable/sat-tv providers to report on which channels you tune into to. Privacy violation? How is that any different than financial reporting companies that sell your credit report to any banking institution for loan/credit worthiness?

Advertisers depend on ratings data to “buy eyeballs” and networks depend on ratings data to set ad spot prices (price per eyeball). The industry needs to be shaken-up and release itself from the Nielsen monopoly and try to think “outside the box” (pun intended) to more accurately gauge viewers in this digital age.

The cancellation of SMITH just goes to show you how arrogant the networks are. Too confusing and complex Nina Tassler is quoted as saying. For her maybe! I’m sure there are millions of veiwers who, like myself, tape hours of programs from as many different networks as there are so we don’t have to sit through mind numbing commercials. Are we counted in the audience share? So when the networks pull out their stats they are automatically scewed and don’t give the real picture.

Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, pulled the plug on Smith because of its complex storylines. Interesting…what shall we look forward to, Ms. Tassler? More bug eating for bucks? Another sitcom with an overweight, but endearing husband married to a drop-dead-gorgeous, anorexic stay-at-home wife with kids?

Thanks for lowering the expectations and numbing the minds of the masses.

Doesn’t this remind anyone of the NBC show Heist, which was also cancelled with no notice at a high point? Or at least my friends and I thought it was a high point.
Maybe shows about robbers just don’t draw the ratings.

Smith was not all that.

After watching the pilot, I thought, “Who cares about any of these characters?” I love shows with anti-heroes. But this one?

Violent criminals leading double lives; a storyline that felt awkwardly like Andre Braugher’s last drama, Thief; nowhere near as slick and polished as AMC’s Hustle — Smith felt generic and rather blah.

Good riddance.
