Southland: Season Five Ratings

Southland season five ratingsWhen NBC cancelled Southland, it was hard to imagine that we’d be talking about season five of the show. Will the ratings be good enough for TNT to renew the show for a sixth year? We shall have to wait and see.

Revolving around police officers in Los Angeles, the show stars Ben McKenzie, Michael Cudlitz, Regina King, Shawn Hatosy, C. Thomas Howell, and Lucy Liu.

Below are the most recent ratings for the Southland TV series on TNT. The show’s ratings are the best way to tell if it will be cancelled or renewed for a sixth season. The fifth season of Southland airs on Wednesday nights and there are 10 episodes once again.

These figures will be updated as the weeks progress so be sure to bookmark and return to this page:

Many crime/drama shows on TV are popularized because the general masses do not know “good tv” ; understandably so, not much exists. Because Southland has not had the huge advertisements popular crime/drama shows have, purely means people watch this show because they want to deliberately watch it; they enjoy the amazing writing and the cast. This show may not have the hugest weekly viewers but anybody can flip to a channel and leave garbage on while brains rot.

Southland is amazing and should see further seasons!! (with or without McKenzie)

TNT needs to renew Southland for a 6th season because it is one of the best shows on t.v. Michael Cudlitz deserves an Emmy for his performance on 4/10/13. I have watched every episode of Southland since it premiered on NBC. Fans of Southland would love more than 10 episodes a season! I really hope we have the chance for a 6th season.

I have been watching Southland since the 1st season. The only complaint I have is that the seasons are so short. It would be a shame to cancel such a great show with such an excellent cast. Besides some of the shows that AMC offers, this is one of the best shows on tv. It is definitely the best show TNT has. I will miss it if it is gone, but I ma thankful that TNT allowed us to enjoy it beyond the first season.

I am so distressed to think that this wonderful show is in jeopardy of being cancelled!
I LOVE this show! The acting is superb! The story lines are real! I love the way that the show is shot, so gritty and genuine! My husband andI look forward to this show every week, we have been fans since it’s NBC days! The actors on this show do not insult my intelligence, like stupid reality shows. Let me name a few others while I am at it; Castle,
Hawaii Five O, and whatever that show is with the idiot who “knows and see’s things”,
Simon someone, the hunky guy from Austrailia. These shows all try to be a little humerous, but they are just dumb. Criminal Minds, too CREEPY!!! I do not need nightmares about crazy freaks!!! We have daughter’s, some of their shit is too disturbing
for me to watch! With Southland, I am glued to the TV if my husband talks to me during the show I have to rewind it, I do NOT want to miss a single line!!!
Here is my advice to TNT; DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW! ADVERTISE IT MORE, HAVE MORE THAN 10 EPISODES A SEASON!
TNT, Get your heads out of your ass and listen to the viewers! WE WANT SOUTHLAND ON FOR ANOTHER SEASON!!!
MY life is very busy, with my family, job, home, friends and many other responsibilites.
I make time in my busy schedule to watch this terrific show every week, that is saying a lot!!! I am not someone who just sits in front of my big screen and watches whatever is on. It has to be damm good, for me to spend my precious few hours of free time in front of a big black box.
LISTEN TNT!!!

I am HOOKED on this show; have been since its NBC days. The story lines are riveting, compelling and true to real life. As a p/o in the biggest city on the east coast, this show is so realistic… I love the fact that it isn’t all on duty stuff and we get to see the personal lives, however screwed up. Please TNT, keep Southland alive.

Without a doubt, Southland is in a class of its own. This is writing/acting at its best! I would hate to to see this show disappear, and will be more than disappointed if it g ets axed!!! I was dumbfounded to catch a rumor on FB that it is a possibility it will not return. PLEASE listen to our voices and don’t let this gem get away.

I have followed Southland from the very first episode, and feel TNT would be making a huge mistake if this intelligent, intense, and realistic drama is not renewed for more seasons.

I am a Los Angeles native-the streets, the issues portrayed, and the culture are incredibly accurate. The show’s writers are to be congratulated for their accomplishments.

I fully agree with other comments in that ratings would be much higher if TNT produced more episodes in each season and gave viewers more of a chance to get hooked. And it is so very frustrating to wait nearly ten months for a new season to start….PLEASE, TNT: Do the intelligent thing and keep this excellent drama going!

Southland is the most realistic police series I’ve seen on television. My close friends and I are all employes in law enforcement and are very impressed and forward to the view the series weekly. 10 episodes per season are far to few, if this series is renewed, please provide the loyal viewers with more episodes. Thank you!!!!

Southland is hands down, the top of the list in its writing, casting, acting, etc. It’s story lines are brilliant, intense, gripping, and leaves me wanting more. It amazingly manages to get better Every episode/season, even when I don’t think there’s any way it could get any better… it always does, week after week, season after season. I’ve followed this show since the premiere, and am thankful TNT was smart enough to pick it up. If they don’t renew for 2 or 3 more seasons, at least, they’re making a huge mistake. This is the only show, next to The Walking Dead, which I feel connected to the characters, and I’m so intensely into each episode, the hour flies by, and I want more. Renew! Renew! Renew! After the last few amazing episodes, I can’t imagine the show not coming back. It’s better than all TNT’s other shows which are getting renewed, and I love TNT’s programs. But Southland is their best show.

Southland is the best show on television. This season the episodes have been
particularly raw especially the kidnapping. But the rawness makes this show so realistic
and believable. I so hope the show returns for a 6th season but with more episodes.

If this show gets cancelled , I will be severley PISSED!!! This is the best drama on TV, I think the heads over @ TNT need to push this show….and 10 episodes a year is complete bullshit. All the actors on the show work well off of each other and C Thomas Howell is by far my favorite. Mike Cudlitz is hONESTLY one of the better actors on TV. I love Southland ever since its premier on NBC in 2009. Its a Its a great Drama and it deserves to be promoted better by its station!!!!

This is by far the most realistic police series. It is truly what peace officers encounter in inner city crime and daily duty. The episodes are great. I hope the season continues. The actors are superb!!! The episodes depicted a lifelike day on the job. Edge-of-your seat series! Please continue the fine production of this TV cop drama. I can see an actual movie made from this.

I have been watching SOUTHLAND since the season 1. I would be devastated if the show gets canceled, every time the season finale comes around I get upset because I feel the show should have more episodes. Tonight’s episode (4/11/13) has by far been one of the best. I LOVE John Cooper he is my favorite. I was upset, to the verge of tears, because of what he went through with the kidnapping. He is such a good actor, to me, he is so spot on! I can only pray that I my favorite show does not get canceled.

I NEVER write in to comment on TV shows, but Southland is by far the best cop show on TV today. In many ways it is the type of show that would be found on HBO or Showtime rather than cable. My wife & I “discovered” the show in this it’s fifth season. We quickly went back and watched the prior 4 seasons. I am fearful that TNT will cancel this outstanding show due to what appears to be their (TNT) own mishandling of the show. Bring it to the public in more than 10 shows per year so people can get to know it! Ten weeks and then gone for months is a way to kill the best drama on TV. Also get behind it!! Lastly, as someone else pointed out, show the other seasons again. Even though this show is in its 5th season, the total number of episodes really puts it in its second season. As an example, NBC’s Chicago Fire has 24 episodes in just one season. Southland has aired about 34 episodes in 5 years!!! If this show fails, it is squarely the fault of those running TNT!!!
