Tomorrow marks the 46th anniversary of the original Star Trek’s debut on NBC. As Trekkies and Trekkers know all too well, the sci-fi series was a ratings disappointment in its original run and was cancelled after three seasons and 79 installments. It truly started to catch on in syndication and the rest is history.
The folks at Google are paying tribute to the classic TV series with an animated Google doodle. You can see it by visiting Google.com. If you do, be sure to click around to find a bunch of cute little surprises.
Google previously paid tribute to Lucille Ball and I Love Lucy, the classic sitcom that was also produced by Desilu Productions.
What do you think? Did you enjoy Google’s tribute? What other classic shows would you like to see saluted by the search engine?

I loved it! And I’m not even a fan of the original Star Trek (just all the Star Trek shows there have been since). I think it’s the most elaborate tribute Google’s ever paid — and they’ve sure paid a lot of them.
I just had a thought for the next Google tribute, Gilligan’s Island!!! I can just see the coconuts falling out of trees, haha.
Wow, this was great! Thanks Google! Brought back found memories of my childhood and watching the original series (in black & white I might add). Now I understand why (as an actor) you didn’t want to be wearing red, haha.
