11-20-2009 Started watching stargate atlantis this year. I watch all the episodes. I love this show , all the cast is great, love’em,shows great, so now it has been cancelled. I could not wait to see stargate universe when it was advertised on tv . Not even close to Atlantis.

Stargate Universe? The show should be called “Battlegate Galactica, 90210.” Dull, plodding, boring, overly dark, people mumbling in low voices as they “emote”… just like Galactica. (Staring Lou Diamong Phillips as Adama.) With the introduction of a couple Gen Nexters to what, appeal to a youth audience? This show ain’t going nowhere. It’ll be lucky to survive one season.

All of which really begs the question: WTF is this channel thinking?

SG-1 was the best, SGA was an acceptable successor, but any time you try to “out-hip” yourself by changing “Sci-Fi” to “Syfy” you’re telling everyone you’re clueless. They’ve not only killed off another good series, they’ve given us nothing but crap in return.

And please, don’t anyone offer up “Sanctuary.” No way I’m buying into that waste of time. For starters, turning Amanda Tapping from a blonde hottie into a witchy woman with a seriously annoying British accent has totally ruined my day.

I sure wish you would have kept the two shows going. I’m an older fan and still like Si-Fi but I am having a real problem with the replacement. Not sure I’ll watch much more of it. Not much to the show so far. The others something was always going on and the casts in both were excellent. I miss them. I will for sure watch the new one you mentioned above on on Stargate Atlantis and I’m glad we will be able to watch them once in awhile. Not just a couple of minutes here and their. Others out their feel the same way I do.

Bring back SGA!!
I’ve just started watching it from the beginning again, it’s incredible.

What on earth did they think going from SGA to SGU … seriously, it’s enough with one boring battlestar galactica show. No need to copy the slow concept over and ruin the SG universe. I’ve watched 6 episodes in the hopes that it will pick up some “speed” but it’s just plain boring

I hope they will realize their mistakes and get back to producing the 6th season of SGA. Follow-up movies are great, but your left with kind of an empty feeling when they finish. I guess we have to let go sometime, but there is still TONS of stuff left to explore.

Skip the boring battlestar galactica clone and get back to SGA!

If you are going to make SGU a success, you’d better get it going into the meat of whatever you are offering or you will soon lose more fans. Better yet, bring back SGA! I have just read through a number of the posts on this site and it seems to me that the conscience of the vast majority of the fans is that the Co- creators of the stargate world Mr’s Cooper & Wright are complete and utter MORONS for canceling SGA. They sited the decline in popularity for the show and the falling US dollar as reasons for the cancellation. They then reveal that they are planing a new series for the Stargate World called “Stargate Universe”. This in my opinion now makes them not only morons but also idiots. I mean think about it canceling one show to make another, talk about robbing Peter to pay Paul, better to stick with a show that works and has an existing fan base then take a gamble on a new one, even more so if money is a concern. On the plus side I am glad to here that SGA is going to continue in movie format, however it should be pointed out that story lines cannot be fully explored to the same satisfaction in movie form as they can be in series and this is the main reason I am dissapointed in the decition to cancel Stargate Atlantis.

I think both SG1 and Atlantis were just so great. I will really miss watching the show. As far as Star gate Universe is concern I thing the first 2 episodes where every cheap and the actors are quite annoying and just don’t seem to fit together on the stage not to mention more of my bad impression. I think is just a failure but of course this is only my opinion. I hope it will get better.

Well I read what everyone had to say and I feel the same my wife and I, yes a married Syfy geek, watched SGA since it started and had been wondering what happened. to the show. We seen the new SGU and I didn’t care for it, really a gamer for a top SG scientist that is rediculus. Needless to say I am protesting the canceling of SGA by boycotting the new SGU, I think to get the message accross everyone should do the same. BOYCOTT SGU do not watch it ever, maybe they’ll relize their mistake and bring it back like Family Guy.

The end of season 5 cant be the end with atlantis on earth, the wraith are still there, not defeated yet and so on. Much left in Atlantis series to un discover.

Really sad to hear this. Seems like TV is being taken over by the worst programming possible. I loved SGA and its cast of characters and the story line. It seemed to reach both male and female viewers and I for one looked forward to watching it every week. Guess this is one more reason not to watch TV.

As far as I’m concerned, I hope you all go bankrupt because of this ridiculous cancellation and severely grave mistake.

I have purchased every single season of SG1 and Atlantis and thoroughly enjoyed every single episode. I was immersed in every storyline shift and progression, enjoying every new adventure. And then…You cancel it without explaining half the **** you made us think about.

I didn’t remain loyal since the start of the franchise to be screwed over by a bunch of overpaid American producers who wouldn’t know a good series if it kicked them in the ass. So whatever, go ahead and air your SGU. I’m sure it’ll be a one-hit wonder if you’re lucky. You certainly won’t have a great following after this retarded move.

I they are worried about production costs in the US bring the filmming over here to the UK granted the weather is **** but at least they will have a great program instead of the big pile of balls that SGU is going to be (not saying that Robert Carlisle is a crap actor or anything). SGA should be gven the public vote of who wants it to stay. Or maybe someone could launch an online petition.

I was gutted when SG1 went and when they took another set of Sci Fi Classics for example the Star Trek series they all had so much potential, the TV giants are meant to be creating programs for the people to enjoy so what is the point in taking away things that people enjoy surely it is going to cost them money not to produce these programs.

I have no faith in TV anymore and I am going to return to what i was doing before and wack on the xbox and listen to music.

Why is it that whenever you get really interested in a show (SGA) they will cancel it. Not to mention they then decide to make another show (SGU) that is a repeat of there previous hit. SGA was a hit. To the producers “You never know what you have until it is gone”.

I’m honestly really disappointed at the end of this show as everyone here is.
I really got gripped to S4 and 5 of SGA, even started to like it more than SG1.

In a few years when fans are thinking back to SGA there wont be a good feeling inside, there will be a feeling of slight emptiness like there was something missing before the end. (Something a movie wont fill..)
Truly great show but I totally agree with “Mark” in the other comments who said “the number of pathetic thin story driven CRAP out there and a great show like SGA with great cast chemistry is CANCELLED”. That pretty much sums up exactly what I think.

Why cancel something like SGA when there’s shows on that channel that you immediately switch from without the slightest moments hesitation. I know it doesn’t exactly work that way when organizing what shows air on the TV but you know what I mean.

I would really like it if they decided that they would carry it on, SG1 managed to get to S10 and still be great and I’m sure SGA would be the same if given the chance to carry on.

To sum up..
Massive mistake canceling this show

Come on, do something to surprise us, do something out of the ordinary for the fans and bring back Stargate Atlantis.

all i have to say is you don’t do yourself any favors canceling SGA like that to make room for another spin off! If you think Lou Diamond Phillips is going to save your franchise your mistaken. Why would i waste my time watching another obviously cheaper to produce series you will eventually cancel out of the blue. SGA was the only thing i watched on sci fi sy fy or whatever the BS station is calling itself these days.
I don’t think anyone should die like some of u but …it reminds me of the cancelation of another show i loved Family guy… Hopefully the syF***s in charge will learn from foxs mistake and bring them back Way too many loose ends left for a TV movie. I know DVDs make u money but if you hadnt noticed your fan base will probably DL it for free in protest

SGA is one of the few shows that has an awesome cast. It had the perfect combination of comedy, action and some drama now and then….Just like SG-1. I may not have been able to see every show on TV because I was in the navy, but i sure as hell bought the seasons on DVD. I don’t know what the hell you people are thinking, but someone needs to be fired. If SG Universe isn’t as good as SGA. You can bet I won’t watch it and i have a feeling there is more people then just my self feels the same way. And another thing…I never post any messages on any blog. And for me to post this….that’s how big of a mistake canceling SGA really is. I still can’t belive this has happend.

They should renew Atlantis and give it the same 10 season life that SG-1 was afforded. I like SG-1, and they should have never canceled it to begin with.

What drew me to the Stargate series in the first place was the feeling it invoked about humanity, Earth, and our existence in relation to everyone else in the galaxy, or universe. In addition, the exclusive storyline following a given team or unit.

At the expense of promoting something others may have lost interest with, following an SG team around a galaxy is great, and they should stick with it. I don’t know what they think they are going to do with Stargate Universe, but I surely hope it’s not going to turn into the first sci-fi reality series. The last thing I care to see is tribal warfare on an Ancient space ship where people get voted beamed off the ship at the nearest system on it’s merry way to being Johnny Apple-Gate in some other galaxy.

Sweet Love Of God, the number of pathetic thin story driven CRAP out there and a great show like SGA with great cast chemistry is CANCELLED, what the hell are you thinking for the love of god. dont know if anything else has changed but this is really lame…i watched stargate sg-1 religously and then did the same as soon as SGA came out
i watched the first episode like….4 or 5 times on tv and i own the first 3 seasons getting the last two soon…this is seriously the only series i watched on tv
and RNH i agree on the lame ass horror flicks, those things are a joke
why dont u stop wasting millions of dollars on week long production with crappy actors and put the money towards something good like make SGA last as long as SG1 if not longer
your making a huge mistake by canceling this show.
ill probably only tune into ‘Syfy’ for reruns of SGA and SG1 now and the occasional big production movie

I was totally bummed when I read there would be no 6th season of Atlantis. It was just getting good and the characters were just starting to really bond what with 3 commanders taking over Atlantis and all they weren’t fully adjusted yet. I am not sure who decides to cancel shows but they need to rethink this one. I really hope it wasn’t because some corporate suit was only going to earn 1million dollars this year vice 2. I am mean really sometimes life isn’t all about money. BRING IT BACK!

Where is the Stargate Atlantis movie we were promised? This was clearly a show that ended way too early. SGU looks sad in comparison; although maybe it will prove me wrong. Nothing can be the great casting they had for SGA. Its a shame, I hope the movies do become a reality, and soon. The SciFi left after the demise of so many good shows, SG1, SGA, Battlestar Galactica, Enterprise is in need of some help. SyFy is spending too much money on bloody horror flicks that will not keep an audience interested. Not to mention, forget my kid watching any of that stuff.
