I was and still am a big fan of both SG-1 and Atlantis..but Atlantis suffered at the hands of Mallozzi with his constant firing of much loved cast members because he couldn't be bothered writing for them, or digging deeper in to their characters, for example Weir. I was sad to see Torri Higgingson go. But I respected her decision. She had guts to go to Mallozzi and say look, enough of the crap writing for my character. Either give me something to work with or I am out the door. You need to remember too, that at the time Mallozzi had lost direction of Stargate Atlantis and its ensemble cast. It became the McKay and Sheppard show, and while I really liked these characters...it lost all sense of what the show was supposed to be about..and thats why I said above, it was a disaster for MGM to keep Sci Fi as it's rights holder..another network would have seen through the transparency and have moved the show to another studio so we could get back to more of what we loved about SG-1. How ironic the windbag known as Mallozzi came out recently with..the failure of SGU has affected any momentum the movies would have made particularly Stargate Atlantis. I was sad to find out that General George Hammond of Texas passed away, well the brilliant man who played him. He stood by his SG1 team and they stood by him. A true leader of men. Yes bring SG1 and the SGC team back. If not in a series 11 then in more direct to DVD movies, not just one or two. Perhaps one a year? SG1 should not have been cancelled. While I am saddeded, I know all good things must come to an end. While I share your anger, I can't help thinking that if SG-1 continued on for another 4-5 seasons, you protesters would be the first to bitch if the quality of the show declined, staple actors were replaced, etc... This is just another quality show that has fallen victim to PVRs and downloading, of which many of us, including myself, are guilty. PVRs and downloading will not go away. Because this is a "free" show as opposed to movies, I think PVRs are more to blame than anything. Until those TV execs find a way to counter the effects of FF past commercials, this will continue. Perhaps if cable companies found a way to broadcast several streams of commercials to cable boxes that could be selected based on interest. If you can gear commercials to my interests, then I would be more inclined to watch. I have no interest in watching commercials about pads, douches, 55+ insurance, reverse mortgage, etc... Keep the same number of advertisers, just show their commercials to a target audience more frequently that way they have a better chance of seeing them. No matter how many times I see a pad or douche commercial, I am not going to go out to buy any, got no place to put them. 55+ and reverse mortgage commercials are lost on me due to age. I am glad that I can still see Stargate Atlantis but it doesn't have the same charm to it and if they can axe SG1 like this "because it's expensive" then how much of a chance does Atlantis stand of lasting 10 seasons. Why couldn't you make 1 more season to round everything off properly instead of trying to cram it all into 1 hour? Why couldn’t you make 1 more season to round everything off properly instead of trying to cram it all into 1 hour? I got to episode 18 of season 10 and thought that there was no way they could finish it off properly in just 3 hours and after watching it I feel that the ending didn’t do 10 seasons of a fantastic show justice as it ended too abruptly.
