I just started watching Stargate SG1. I put off watching it for years because it was not advertisted alot and not many people knew about it.

All I can say is wow! It’s the most amazing show I have ever watched. Amazing stories. The cast has perfect chemistry. I have no idea why they would want to cancel it. You could have unlimited stories from this amazing concept.

Well I tell all my friends about this show and they have no idea it exists. Maybe if more advertisting was used this show would be so popular it would not be able to get canceled? It’s sad, was such an amazing series.

Jack, Carter and Daniel and that jaffa guy had amazing chemistry together. I think thats what made the show so amazing.

I can’t believe it was canceled. What a bunch of frugal jerks. At the VERY least they could have wrapped it all up in the 11th season. That’s just stupid to leave everyone hanging after TEN FRAKKIN YEARS. (Yes I’m also a BSG fan) God, I just started consistantly watching SG-1 on Hulu (which has seasons 1-8 and more coming soon I guess) and now I learn this?! What a cryin shame. Why the heck would they make the spin off series Stargate Universe if SG-1, the LARGEST part of the series by a long shot, was canceled? That’s really very stupid. Why Syfy did this I guess we will never know. My dream however would be to see a Star Wars type Saga of big budget Stargate Movies. I KNO they could do even better than the Star Wars genre. The SW time is over. And Star Trek can keep being re-made and restarted, so can Stargate. Get your heads right Syfy. BRING. IT. BACK.

Why would Sci fi channel not want other channels too air SG1, Or even make a series 11, So stupid, I know for a fact my self and many other Australians are saddend by this, The show has been great, And the show still has so much potential, It is ridicoulous. I hope the Sci-fi Channel loses buttloads of money from this.

But then again, Eventually Micheal Shanks, Christopher Judge and Amanda Tapping would probably want to move on. (and the other various actors in the show)

I have been a fan of SG-1 from the beginning. And I agree with the millions of other fans that say the cancellation was a HUGE mistake. Maybe if the end of Season 10 wasn’t left so ridiculously WIDE OPEN, the fans might have got a small bit of closure. So the movies better be made and made WELL, also make a Season 11 the ties up all loose ends, or brings it all into Atlantis. And I would just like to say that Atlantis is in my opinion the BETTER Stargate show. It just hits home for me. P.S: Taking Dr.Beckett off of Atlantis was a TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE move!!!

Hello everybody, well its been sometime since the decision to axe arguable one of the greatest science fiction franchises to grace our televisions and my bitterness still remains.

Yes the show was always drawing to a near, 10 years on television does mean huge production costs, however, a show with a history such as stargate, to end without tieing off loose ends and story lines was disgusting, and for the record although the obvious production cost sg1 post sg atlantis grew huge potential, and had that potential to carry on 2 3 4 5 6 more seasons, all it would of taken was a bit of faith.

My bitterness runs deep as i have seen every stargate episode made, twice, i am a massive fan and my bitterness will not end.

To the decision maker at sci fi, as unintelligent and immature as this will sound. You my friend are a blind fool, and in more australian terms a Wanker.

I cant believe that the Sci-Fi channel can hold back production of additional seasons, if they no longer find it profitable or it does’nt meet their ratings numbers, put it out there for others to pick up, im sure there are players willing to utilise the numbers that SG 1 pulls every time its on air. The Sci-fi channel execs are children who want to take their bat and ball and go home, I would like to see MGM buy back the rights to SG 1 and tell the Sci-fi channel to stick it! This kind of BS should not be allowed to happen, we the fans are paying for the production after all, and so what that the characters are asking for more money, give it to them! our politicians get pay rises all the time and they certainly dont deserve it! I’m sure the execs at the Sci-fi channel get pay rises that they definately dont deserve! nevertheless, it makes good business sense to give your customers what they want. If soap operas like Days of our lives can run for decades on crap storylines then how can a show of Sg 1’s calibre not continue for many seasons to come? Please MGM do whats right, continue SG 1 and sack the Sci-fi channel.

Stargate SG-1 is by far the best show ever created! SG-1 has the charisma and laughs, yet at the same time has the intensity of a high priced action movie. It was a huge mistake to cancel this show. Id have to say that the execs of Scifi have really made a typical american decision when it comes to something good… complain it doesnt make enough money, scrap it based on a fantasy based number of monetary loss, put the announcement out to the press, toss the public a cheap bone (DVD’s), and pretend nothing happened.

Not really surprising anymore, Stargate SG-1 has been rated up there with Startrek in popularity circles. As for number of fans, well as has been mentioned previously pull up SG-1 on the web and the number of sites is massive.

Scifi will not make as much off DVD Spinster movies as they would from making a Season 11 finisher. But, everyone also has to realize that if any of the execs actually looked at this site or any of the thousands out on the web they wouldnt care less. They have forgotten that its the people watching these shows that pay their budgets.. they cant see their feet becasue their noses are turned upward. its sad that they have had to cancel a show that is definately one of the more popular ones out there even after 10 Seasons.

Its too bad that this is pretty much the end of the SG-1 line.

After the conclusion of the the war with the goa’ould I thought it was stupid to start basically the same storyline, but with another bad guy.
However the new writing style (more serious) and subtly hitting at some very update social and political themes,has made to new incarnation of SG-1 take on new life so much so I’m finding it more compelling to watch than the prevoius showings.
All I can say is that, I know a good performer should leave the audiance asking for more, but the position where it has been cut is wrong, it needs the ends tying up.
Finally the series has been running that long there is a new generation watching now, I think the series had a couple more seasons left in it, shame it has just be cut.

I loved the original Stargate movie. Didn’t get into the SG-1 series from the start. Initially I started watching Atlantis and loved it. Had the SG-1 DVDs for a year now and finally started watching them within the last month. I am now on season 8 and it is like I am on crack, I stay up all night watching them, I can’t get enough. Now to hear that season 10 is the end kills me.

While I am saddeded, I know all good things must come to an end. While I share your anger, I can’t help thinking that if SG-1 continued on for another 4-5 seasons, you protesters would be the first to ***** if the quality of the show declined, staple actors were replaced, etc…

This is just another quality show that has fallen victim to PVRs and downloading, of which many of us, including myself, are guilty. PVRs and downloading will not go away. Because this is a “free” show as opposed to movies, I think PVRs are more to blame than anything. Until those TV execs find a way to counter the effects of FF past commercials, this will continue. Perhaps if cable companies found a way to broadcast several streams of commercials to cable boxes that could be selected based on interest. If you can gear commercials to my interests, then I would be more inclined to watch. I have no interest in watching commercials about pads, douches, 55+ insurance, reverse mortgage, etc… Keep the same number of advertisers, just show their commercials to a target audience more frequently that way they have a better chance of seeing them. No matter how many times I see a pad or douche commercial, I am not going to go out to buy any, got no place to put them. 55+ and reverse mortgage commercials are lost on me due to age.

I can’t believe those idiots have cancelled the best show in the world. When the show finished in the UK and they brought out Stargate SG1 the DVD collection I was straight down the shop buying it and have loved all of the extra info that came in the magazines but that just isn’t enough. I know all of the episodes inside out and to know that there won’t be anymore new episodes and therefore no new twists or unexpected surprises makes me feel like a part of me has died. It is a sad day for the Sci fi world when a show that is loved so religiously by so many people can be cancelled just like that. I am glad that I can still see Stargate Atlantis but it doesn’t have the same charm to it and if they can axe SG1 like this “because it’s expensive” then how much of a chance does Atlantis stand of lasting 10 seasons. Why couldn’t you make 1 more season to round everything off properly instead of trying to cram it all into 1 hour? I got to episode 18 of season 10 and thought that there was no way they could finish it off properly in just 3 hours and after watching it I feel that the ending didn’t do 10 seasons of a fantastic show justice as it ended too abruptly.

What the !!! I am so behind well western australia does stand for wait a while. I cant believe that their is going to be no season 11. Its bloody ridiculous and yes what a pathetic ending to a fantastic series in season 10 i mean come on guys how much thought really went into that one! Anyways all power to MGM good on you guys keep up the great work and thanks for a great series if you do make a couple of movies that would be great and really hope their is a spin off series from the movies. Also it would be a real shame to lose Jackson, Tealc, Carter, Vala and especially guest apperances from Jack O’neal. Maybe they could appear i the offshoot series. I really enjoy both series and think that both have their merits on their own stand alone basis. Although its great to see guest appearances from members of both series. Thanks for your time and hope we can all keep the ball rolling and keep the pressure on to retain both the series. Steve

I have been a very long standing sg1 fan since season 2, it has had me gripped to my seat, it has had me wild, it has had me with so much joy to see something happen that was like england winning the world cup (daniel jackson coming back) to sg1, it is a show that means more than ratings, to some people its something to look forward to every week, i think sci fi channel needs to ask what the people ie the fans want, i know it can not go on for ever, but you can not end it like that and 2 films just wont cover it, what about the furlings one of the 4 races, what happened to oma desala and anubis, whats happening between jack and sam? we havent heard from daniels grandfather, come on sci fi at leased do a proper job of ending it by tieing up the important loose ends email me at neilme157hl@hotmail.co.uk

Jesus i am so behind. I work 12 hour shifts 5 days a week but i still find time to watch STARGATE SG1. Just finished watching season 10 PISS POOR ending. Kill off the asguard and end using the same old time travel trick. COME ON GUYS…

Im here in australia and you wouldn’t believe how many fans there are over here. Where ever they get their ratings list from it is OBVIOUSLY wrong. Don’t they realise that not everyone watches the series on STUPID SCIFI channel. Dvd’s, internet.

ALL I AM GOING TO SAY IS YOU ARE DICKS for cancelling such a GREAT SERIES.

Dont be surprised guys if SG-Atlantis ends in series 5. Because it won’t last by itself they will think no-one watches it.

Unbelievable, just plain unbelievable

The sheer ignorance of cancelling this show, whatever these executives at Scf-fi are paid, it’s way too much! I bet a monkey could make better business decisions!

Having vented some anger I think I can continue now.

I am seriously disgruntled with the last episode of season 10, it didn’t even come close to providing the consolidation you would expect a final episode to have. Fortunately the best show ever has not yet ended. I eagerly await the dvd’s that will be season 11.

What seriously pisses me off is that this sci-fi network does not allow Stargate sg1 to be aired on a different network. I guess they’re afraid for the possible repercussions, their fan-base leaving them and all. Well they have good reason! I think that they have just lost about 10%, hell maybe even more, of their subscriptions just by cancelling sg1. Serves them right though.

Stargate Atlantis cannot take the place of sg1, ever. It’s an okay show in its own right, but it cannot compare to sg1!

I seriously hope that a new window of opportunities opens after the 2 dvd’s have been released. Maybe sci-fi will come to their senses or maybe something else can be arranged.

Only time will tell.

I hate SciFi channnel Stargate SG1 is much better than Atlantis and it makes SciFi famous they should not cancel it but im lookin forward to the movies. Anyway thanks mgm everybody who made stargate sg1 and to everybody who kept it going for 10 years and for SciFi channel for airing although i still hate this channel.SciFi should let another channel air the new episodes I also despise them for that. I believe it was one of the greatest Science Fiction series out there, Stargate SG1 was the series I started watching from the first episode and as then and now I remain a fan, it evolved into a great series and incorporated some brilliant ideas, I can only thank MGM for their efforts in making it all possible, as for the Sci Fi channel for which I pay a subscription, to them it’s all about ratings and building up the series they need and not having to pay anymore for new ones. I know Sci Fi have some good series on their channel and good marathons and movies but that is yet another mistake, by killing of series they think they are cutting costs when in fact they are cutting down their production, and believe me no one will watch the same old shows forever.

Stargate SG-1 was one of the few shows worth watching on television, it is the only reason I paid for the Sci-Fi Channel. If Sci-Fi does not bring it back I will just cancel my cable subscription to their channel. The movies are a wonderful gesture but the series is still full of life and deserves a few more season with the season 10 cast. The final episode of season 10 wasn’t even a finale, they left the ori story line open ended and we did not even have a chance to see where the new information from the Asgard was going to take us. The series had so many places yet to go and it deserves to have the opportunity to explore them. The folks at Sci-Fi are idiots if they do not reconsider their decision not to renew. Does anyone know if there has been an effort made to petition Sci-Fi? And if so who do I write my letter to and where do I send it?
We want our SG-1!!!!!

NO NO NO NO What in the galaxy do you goobs think you are doing destroying THE one and only palitable series on television. do you think that SG1 would give up on the Universe because half the planet thought it was a lost cause? NO NO NO they would not.If you run a marathon you don’t stop at the first drinks stand because you feel no one cares whether you finished or not, you run to the end, and there is always someone there waiting for you, no matter your time. stargate gives my family quality time together we love ourstargate time and our stargate family. now we will have to go back to ignoring each other which will be a DEAFENING SILENCE IN OUR HOMES. Now we get to the last episode, looking forward to next season, discussing what is going to happen and to find out that some cheap ass executive has cut it. I thought at first that season 9 really failed to revive the series until i got it on dvd and a few weeks later i bought season 10 and it was the best season of it all in my opinion. And then they go and end it with one of the worst episodes ever! apart from turning off the tv and feeling like you’ve just been s**t on it ties up no dead ends that have been left lying around and all it leaves u with is a senile tealc and an impossibly good human ship which will now (im assuming- living in australia means getting it on dvd before or as it is being aired on tv)head into the pegasus galaxy and make have negative effects on atlantis. In my opinion having the two series sharing episodes that include both in the plotline was a very cool thing. of course it isnt much the writers fault. they had eight years to kill the goauld and then two years to destroy an even more powerful enemy. Still, the last episode was terrible.now, one of the only decent sci-fi shows created has been ended ( some pathetic show called torchwood was aired recently. crummiest show ive ever seen). all because some brain dead tv channel executives on the other side of the world dont want it anymore! atleast atlantis lives on…. for the moment

The sg-1 series has truly touched me & the rest of the ppl who have grown to love it over the years. I know that all good things must come to an end but I can’t help but feel a great loss. I know I sound like a loser for letting a tv series mean so much to me but I don’t really care. I love the series & I hope that it continues, if only for a little longer
