Hope NBC will take time and think before ending studio 60. Putting extra time into making it better is worth the network time. The show has what it take to capture viewers and is worth the time to keep them, and capture more.

I really was so sad to see another excellant show taken away.When will we get another chance at such a well written witty show!
I got together with a large group of friends last nite and cried as we watched the finale of Studio 60.
Hopefully someone will take the time to look at this show again and reconsider this show for next year instead of putting more mindless crap like the black donnellys on the air!

Wasnt “Friday night slaughter” the first show they started airing on Thursday nights? I had no idea the day had even moved, and i am an avid watcher! There was hardly any publicity about it changing days so of COURSE it was its lowest numbers. I love this show i’m so sad that they arent picking it up.

NBC, what are you doing? Studio 60 is intellegently written with great characters and snappy dialogue. I tried watching the first episode of Black Donnelly’s but changed the channel when one of the guys was referred to as Jimmy Icecream or something f**king moronic like that. I get that advertisers won’t pay a lot for a show that is being TIVOed, PVRed or DVRed as viewers can zap the commercials, but how about a schedule change where the viewrs want to watch it live and have to sit through the commercials to do that? What about Sunday nights? Friday nights? I’m sure you can brainstorm and figure it out. Also, another observation – “Heroes” is geared for a predominantly 20 something viewer. How did you not expect that there would be a sharp dropoff of viewship by pairirng the two back to back? The 20 somethings are not going to keep on watching NBC and watch a show that is geared for an older viewership. They change the channel after Heroes and watch BAM TV or something on Spike or MTV. Why don’t you f**king wizards who are supposed to be knowledable about TV, know something that any average TV viewer anywhere in the coutry knows?? Having insulted you, I would ask that you please reconsider your programming and bring back Studio 60.

Im sad to see Studio 60 go off the air. The writing and cast were brilliant.It was refreshing to watch a primetime program that catered to an intelligent and educated audiance. What does that tell you about American viewers? I bet if this show was sold to HBO or Showtime it would do well. I hope that happens soon.

How on earth do mathematical ratings come to assess the quality of any art. I wonder what kind of ratings Monet or Renoir or William Butler Yeats get. I am usually very polite but do you all have Down Syndrome? By the way I make over 150000 dollars a year I think that is a worthwhile demographic. I drink orange juice and coca cola. I like beer as well, light beer. So don’t advertise the any high calorie beer because i might change the channel and I wouldn’t want you to soil yourself! By the way I went to college with people like you and I thought that when I graduated you would no longer be a pain in my ass. I guess I was wrong. Maybe I am wrong now too. Just because this show is intellectual unlike other shows is no reason to cancel it! The casting is BRILLIANT except for Amanda and only because she got pregnant which wasn’t her fault but they should have found a way to replace her. But the show is incredible!!!! It draws you in! Just because is isn’t as actioned packed with guns, violence, and profanity doesn’t mean people aren’t interested!!! I agree that the time should be changed because frankly the people who are watching this show don’t have the time that late at night. It should be earlier like at 8 or 9. When will the networks get the picture that there are viewers that love to watch well written and acted shows? Give Studio 60 a chance. The Nine and Six Degrees had a story line and decent acting and yet they are gone.
It’s easier and cheaper to develop this reality show muck and drivel than write and produce a quality program.
I simply refuse to watch ANY “reality” shows and am tired of the same old cops and robbers or forensics shows that we are now inundated with nightly.
The major networks are driving their audiences to cable…shame on them!!

My two cents and I am posting this anywhere I find this discussion. Sorry if you’re tired of seeing it. Who knows, maybe some of the decision makers actually track public opininon. Here’s mine. So typical, assemble a talented cast, hire writers who can wrap humor, depth and relevance together to present three dimensional characters intelligently, give it half a season to become the next big thing and when it doesn’t spread like a Santa Ana wildfire, replace it with anything that will appeal to the lowest common denominator. As if there could not be a worse show in NBC’s lineup to make room for a new action series with such positive story lines and characters for the youth of America to glorify and emulate. We all realize that this is a corporate bottom line decision but how low will you sink before you have absolutely no self respect left for it to hit home that you have a responsibility to provide a modicum of intelligent thought provoking programming with the abundance of dreck you broadcast day and night. If you need evidence of your contribution to the illiteracy of the American populace, surf the net for blogs and comments on pop culture if you haven’t already done so. There are people in this country who can’t even put together an intelligible sentence and yet have the time to gossip on line about any pop icon that pushes their buttons but can’t find the time to learn how to speak or write intelligibly. Well, I know this isn’t going to make any difference but at least we have a forum in which to vent our frustration.

I loved Studio 60! I agree why can’t an intelligent show make it on t.v. Why do the networks assume that the public doesn’t read, have more than a four letter vocab and can’t follow a storyline that doesn’t involve guns, car chases and morgues? I hope that NBC wakes up and realizes that poor ratings in the age of Tivo doesn’t add up
I tape the show and watch it the next day.

Why is it that everytime there is a really great new show that comes out they are always trying to cancel it with in the first season? Of course there might not be that good of ratings at first, because a lot of people have a hard time pulling thenselves aways from the shows that they are already dedicated to or they just simply pass it over because it is new and they dont know much about it. I think that Studio 60 is a fantastic show and it deserves a little bit more time for people to warm up to it or maybe they should consider changing the day that its shown or the time rather than completely pulling the plug on it. PLEASE give it another chance, this is one of my favorite shows right now and I would be sorely dissapointed if doesnt get picked up again.

I love Aaron Sorkin – I think he’s brilliant. But this show isn’t. I watched it because I loved West Wing. I knew this show couldn’t make it when there were fewer laughs on a late night comedy show than there were in the White House. The characters on West Wing were so good and so sharply defined. The Studio 60 characters were flat and I couldn’t really care about any of them.

I loved having my Studio 60(which was like NBC making fun of themselves) right after my Heroes. If anything, split the two apart and put Studio over with some other serious show. Don’t cancel it or the show just proves it’s point from the start. That NBC is run by a bunch on idiots who are scared to take a chance on anything worth wild.

Why do they always cancel the intelligent comedies? This is at least the 3rd show that I’ve watched religiously that seems to get canceled by the end of the 1st season. There are enough doctor, cop, and other dumb comedy shows…Studio 60 had clever writing and if not everyone can appreciate that they should stick to watching FX. PLEASE GIVE THIS SHOW A CHANCE and Please find [or help develop/fund] a more accurate way to gauge & track viewership over that ANTIQUATED NIELSEN SYSTEM. Appointment TV is so last century. With advent of Tivos/PVRs/DVRs & VCRs, PEOPLE ARE WATCHING. Cunning, sly & intelligent INFLUENCERS–so desired & sought after by marketers–ARE WATCHING, but ON THEIR TIME. They’re watching a show about a show that watches how its viewership rides the weekly ebb & flow of the fickle tide of trendy teens, twenty-somethings and their tuned-in folks. How ironic that ratings, demos & share play such a big part in Studio 60 scripts each week, it’s as if the writers’ offices ARE down the hall from the studio executives-just like on Studio 60!
Both Aaron Sorkin and Paul Haggis deserve better than NBC pitting them against each other for the same slot [HBO/BRAVO/USA could use some shiny new gems]. AND come on, ENOUGH with the Medium & Monk clones [a psychic/psycho Jeff Goldblum?] and NO MORE L&O franchise spinoffs…Why keep giving the creepy degenerates of this world more bad ideas. [I also dislike all the CSIs for the same reasons.] Please people, WE CAN CREATE A BETTER WORLD, and it starts with higher vibrations generated by more positive, constructive thoughts and the reduction of negative, destructive ones. The problem with the show was that it became a primetime soap opera. I enmjoyed it at first for all the reasone mentioned above. Fast witty righting, interesting characters etc. But then it became a show about 2 love stories and I lost interest. If they can get back to good writing about a comedy staff, and trhe drama of an SNL like crew then I am in. Until then, NBC did the right thing.

Besides sports and the History channel, Monday was the only night I set aside to watch network television. I skipped Monday Night Football for this show. I agree with most all of the previous comments regarding the show’s great writing, character development, witty dialogue and just plain good, if not great, acting. Big mistake NBC. I don’t often invest my time in television series and may never again if I can’t count on the good programming getting a decent chance.

I am not happy that this show was cancelled. The writing was brilliant and witty. It was refreshing to see a show that forced you to think a little. It was of course replaced by a show that emphasizes violence and over done drama. They wanted to appeal to the masses so they on something that required less attention. It would be a shame if they canceled Studio 60. I think the show is intelligent and the episodes are well written. The cast is excellent and this is the first show in a long time where I’ve actually cared about the characters. Maybe one of the network geniuses at NBC can air the show in a different time slot? Studio is nice break from the usual shows you find on Monday nights. I record every episode via DVR and watch it the next morning. It’s a great way to get my day going. If it gets pulled I have nothing to watch until Thursday. Way to go NBC…another bad decision.

It was mentioned elsewhere but is worth mentioning here – the ratings don’t include those viewers who record or TiVo the shows. The ratings models are out-of-date and badly need to be revamped. Unfortunately it won’t happen in time to save a lot of decent shows. The show-runners know that their audiences are larger than shown but the bean-counters only look at the ratings – their answer to all this would be “You want to save the show? Watch it when it’s on, not when it’s convenient for you.”

Canceling the smartest (and potentially most widely appealing if it weren’t for you hacks sticking your fingers into too many pots – this is why the chef should always have a meat cleaver) show on television for The *ahem* Black Donnellys??? (aka The Departed Meets the OC – please try not to rip off too many other ideas, will ya guys? No WONDER your network is in the dumper. You even have the Dropkick Murphy’s song from the Departed… bet you the Murphy’s are just as ticked off about Studio 60 as we are, but then again – they do get the royalties. Okay, I’m getting sidetracked…)

You want people to care about your network? You want us watching your shows with all the new 42″ plasmas we just bought? Then spare us the regurgitated “reality” B.S. and give us a show we can FALL IN LOVE WITH. Like this one.

I think it is ridiculous. I was a CSI: Miami fan and quite watching it because I enjoyed Studio 60 so much. It is smart and funny without being annoying. I for one will not even try to watch The Black Donnellys. Guess it’s back to CSI: Miami, or maybe even What About Brian!

I think Studio 60 writing is crisp, entertaining, and heartwarming. I agree that it is refreshing from the teenage dramas (Fri Night Lights) and cop/lawyer dramas (though I am a fan of L&O). Please, NBC decision-makers, give this show a chance! And market it!

While we can all acknowledge the inconsistencies in Studio 60, the show has to be better than Irish boys wielding bats. We enjoy the writing, the humor and most of the plotlines. Unlike so many shows it is possible for the occasional viewer to understand the characters. Put it in a different time slot if necessary or make us part of the Nielsen pool.

when are these networks gonna get a clue? i can’t stand the reality series they always seem to add to their lineup. i’m tired of the law & order series and shows of that type. they set this series up to fail by pitting it against csi:miami.

i liked this because the subject matter was different than anything out there. the networks have to stop trying to fight for the same 10 time slots and take advantage of some of the time slots the 20somethings aren’t watching. there are other viewers in this world.

this isn’t really a show that would appeal to 20somethings. it’s not fast-paced enough. it doesn’t have any blood/gore or car crashes. it’s quasi-intellectual. it builds its characters. it builds its storylines. it’s a show for my generation . . . but, then, i guess i don’t count.

i hope they bring it back in another, not so popular, time slot. but, then, the 20somethings won’t watch it because they’ll be out partying while the parents of the world are sitting at home. o well.

When do people with positive and measurable IQ finally get a break? Every time there is an interesting show that departs from “cops and robbers” “docs and patients” or showcasing of uninteresting people in the hopes that making them do stupid things will make them interesting, it gets cancelled. First the show was against one of the most popular shows on TV. Then there was also football…. Then the show went on vacation. Then it was just resumed without fanfare.

Guess its time to see what is on the Discovery and History channgels….I just feel sorry for the people who don’t have cable.

I hope reconsider some of the story lines and renew the show. I was pleased about the premise and setting! I prefer exploring a TV comedy staff than the violent action drama that is about to replace Studio 60. I think there are many people that tape the show and the Nielsens shouldn’t discount those numbers. I hope they start to give shows atleast a second season to develop like they did for all the past hits that ran for years. Look at SEINFELD….it wasn’t a hit in the first season!
