The writers need to put more time in on the story lines. There are bright spots and then parts that are real turn-offs. The most recent show had the wife’s parents visit and the new characters were terrible! The writers’ parents/in-laws/grandparents must have been real losers. In real life out here in the “normal people’s” world the parents/grandparents bend over backwards to be helpful and supportive of their kids and grandkids. I had mentioned the show to a friend and she watched this show and BOY! was she upset. She call to ask how I could watch such a terrible show much less tell others that it was pretty good. I had to say that I had watched the show last night and I hated it also but that if the writers would get off their hateful mean sprited butts and put real human thought into the story line it could be a great show. The character of the dentist is such a sleaze that you would not want him around you kids and the fat lady with the wild daughter is terrible also so write them out and get some new folks in the neighborhood!

It’s possible that the pilot wasn’t fully fleshed out enough and might have prevented viewers from watching further episodes. I was chosen to watch a preview of a new series and it was pretty bad. When the show actually did make it on the air, it was very different from the pilot I saw and in actuality it was the second episode that was finally aired…not the first. But who knows why ABC chose not to air the first episode…maybe we’ll never know. And I agree that Dr. Jim should be put out of our misery. I really can’t stand the actor Jere Burns so I probably already have my mind made up that I’m not going to like anything he’s in. Anyway…I hope the show makes it. Even I Love Lucy wasn’t very popular for the first few episodes.

I really like the show!! The family itself needs to be on more and forget some of the neighbors. The kids are great, the parents are great and the more I watch, the more I want to see. Sitcoms are about growth. Most take at least one season to get off the ground. So, I hope they keep this around. We need it.

I think the main fault here is with the writers. Look at other great past shows like Home Improvement and The Cosby Show or Friends which all had great writers. Surviving Surburbias writers are just run of the mill. It doesn’t matter if you have a great cast of people or not…if the writer are crap,,,so is the show.

SURE IT SUCKS NOW
but it has serious potential
get rid of the stupid neighbors (premise of the whole show)
and focus more on The dad OFFENDING people and saying and doing off colour things.
thats what we want to see. they can get away with anything now we dont want to see lame nice family comedy
ALSO MORE OF THAT HOT CHICK LESS OF THE ***** TEENAGER
CHANGE THE SHOW BIGTIME,

I’d give it a chance, its a change from the crap thats on TV now a days. Theres enough drama and crappy reality shows. What happened to traditional family sitcoms, there almost non-existent now a days. Id atleast give it another season and just see what happens. There are worse shows out there and hey there still around, I guess a lot of people have bad taste now a days.

I love it too! I don’t understand ABC though. Why didn’t they show the pilot? It is going to pick up steam and the actors are great especially the 2 kids. I was so interested in Henry, I looked him up and went out and rented the movies he was in. Both leads and loved him so much. It won’t be long before the likes of Woody Allen, The Coen brothers and Judd Apatow find him. Courtney is adorable though sometimes a little over the top, love the fact that she is not typical hollywood looks though. Bob and Cynthia work perfectly together. Both are seasoned fine actors. Saget is playing a role, he is supposed to be different than Danny Tanner and he succeeds as the grumpy suburban dad. I can’t wait to see more and please ABC, AIR THE PILOT!!!

I love it! I find myself laughing out loud. Why are people who nothing nice to say always the ones who comment. It gets better every week and I read that ABC did not air the pilot which would have been great as it supposedly introduced all of the characters. Why did you do that ABC? Give the show a flying start, don’t let all of the naysayers attack.
Also give it some hype. If you don’t stand behind it why should anyone else?
Anyway, love the characters, especially the kids who need more air time especially maybe have more Henry and Steve and less Steve and Dr. Jim. (a thought).

I tried to watch the whole thing several times the acting is stiff not funny Bob Saggott is not acting he is saying his lines his heart is not in the show his wife doesn’t know what to respond to because she doesn’t know how to carry a show nor should she. The little girl isn’t funny but rude&cocky.The actors & writers aren’t funny not at all. Its a alwful show . I’m an avid t.v. watcher & seriously let this one go get on with actors who care & are acting not just saying there lines. K Howey

Whether Surviving Suburbia catches on or fizzles out will have mostly to do with ABC’s programming geniuses. To people who haven’t liked what you’ve seen, you might have felt differently if you had seen the actual pilot – it hasn’t aired yet and it was very funny. And the young girl who plays the daughter may be the most talented and naturally funniest kid actor since Spanky and Our Gang.

I just saw it for the first time today at a friends house and let me tell you I was laughing my butt off. It was soooo funny. and so not typical bob saget. I love it. Definitely a keeper!

Keep it! We haven’t found a sitcom we could laugh with in quite a while. Either writers have no sense of what’s funny or Americans won’t tune in if its not reality T.V. As much as we didn’t want to like this one (Bob Saget) the writers made a story line we could relate to. That’s when sitcoms get funny! Where have all the sitcoms gone? This is the only new one we’ve seen worth watching again…

it definitely should be cancelled. I do not see in it anything worth watching and spending time on it. To my mind it is just a waste of time. No wonder that it the ratings are going lower both in viewers and the demo. I do not like what is shown on Tv in primetime. I`m sure something should be done…otherwise the nation is going to degrade!

The problem with all these websites is a show is on for one minute and the keep it or cancel article comes out. So many good shows have been canceled because people have to much free time on there hands and they trash good ideas. Get a job you idiots!
