Survivors: Win the TV Show Remake on DVD!

SurvivorsA remake of the original Survivors series, this TV show debuted in November 2008. It was created by BAFTA Award-winner Adrian Hodges (Primeval) and was inspired by the original Terry Nation novel.

This version of Survivors is set in the present day and focuses on a group of people who have survived viral pandemic known as the Eurpoean Flu. With the rest of the world’s population dead, these individuals must learn to survive and work together without the structure and security of an organized society and law and order.

Performers in this post-apocalyptic series include Julie Graham, Phillip Rhys, Zoe Tapper, Shaun Dingwall, Paterson Joseph, Freema Agyeman, Chahak Patel, Nikki Amuka-bird and Max Beesley.

The last episode of Survivors aired in February and it was subsequently announced that the series was cancelled, leaving the TV show with a cliffhanger ending.

I think the Survivors series is awesome. I was mesmerized by the realism and intensity of the plot as it unfurled. My favourite character is Tom Price (Max Beesley). The storyline I feel, is not far fetched. It could happen, but most people don’t want to admit it. I think it is a valid point of view that most people might not appreciate, but are secretly curious about. I wish they would give us Series 3. It really is unfair to leave fans hanging that way. I have signed the petition that is going around. Maybe the BBC will take notice. This is kind of like Star Trek. They cancelled it not realizing how popular it was. Then the reaction of the fans, shed a new light on it and I’m certain the producers were kicking themselves when they realized what they had done. Producers of The Survivors. Wake up and smell the coffee.
Save Tom Price (Max Beesley) from that cliffhanger. The fans deserve, the character deserves it and Max deserves it.

I do not what the problems were regarding critics and their outlook on Survivors because from start to finish this show was very good! Sorry to see it end!

I’m wondering how the “once per day” limit will be enforced. Would that be once per calendar date, or once per 24-hour period. If it’s the former, I’m good; if it’s the latter, I’m screwed.

I don’t have BBC America on my cable subscription. Apparently this show airs on Tuesdays at 9/8c (changed from Saturdays 9/8c). It would’ve been a nice replacement for LOST on my Tuesday nights.

I really liked the cast of this show–had seen many of them on other shows (Hotel Babylon, 24, etc.)

Networks and sci-fi don’t mix. The network decision-makers feel they need to dumb down shows to appeal to the masses.
