Today, Lifetime unveiled their plans for programming for the 2011-12 season. Though they have almost a dozen new reality TV series in the works, the cable channel is also continuing to produce original scripted series as well. In addition to two new shows — The Protector and Against the Wall — they’ve also announced the renewal of Army Wives.
Currently in its fifth season, Army Wives is the top-rated cable series among females 18-49 and reportedly attracts an average of 3.7 million total viewers each week. Though season five won’t finish airing for more than a month, Lifetime has ordered another round of 13 new episodes for season six. The cable channel hasn’t specified when they’ll debut. Past seasons have aired at all different times of the year.
