Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1962, Spider-man was the first superhero of his kind. Unlike other heroic characters of the day, he has problems that ordinary teenagers can relate to.

Spider-Man (1981)

This animated series was a somewhat faithful adaptation of the comic book adventures except for the fact that network demands kept violence to a bare minimum. Peter Parker (Ted Schwartz) must balance his crimefighting alter-ego with his responsibilities as a university student and as a helper for his elderly Aunt May (Linda Gary). He also works as a part-time photographer at the Daily Bugle for bombastic editor J. Jonah Jameson (William Woodson) who has a sweet assistant named Betty Brant (Mona Marshall).
