Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: FOX Series cancelled, No Season Three

TerminatorTo no surprise, FOX has cancelled its sci-fi series after two seasons. With a new Terminator movie about to be released, one would think the show’s future would be secure. What’s the deal?

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles debuted in January of 2008 to a whopping 18.3 million viewers and a 7.6 rating/18 share in the 18-49 demographic. Unfortunately, much of the strength of that debut could be credited to having an NFL playoff game as a lead-in. The next night, only 10.07 million returned to see episode two and the ratings for subsequent installments declined from there. Despite falling to a low of 7.12 million and a 2.7 rating, FOX opted to order a second season.

The sophomore year of the series got off to a slow start in September of 2008. The season two premiere attracted just 6.33 million viewers and a 2.4/7 rating/share in the demo. On Monday nights, airing opposite Chuck, the viewership declined even further.

FOX ordered a full season but in 2009 shifted the series to Friday nights, paired with compatible Dollhouse. It was hoped that, together, they would draw a substantial audience. It didn’t happen and Sarah Connor was commonly seen as a poor lead-in for the new Joss Whedon series. Sarah Connor’s Friday night numbers hit a low of 2.9 million viewers and a 1.0/4 in the 18-49 demographic.

Though the show’s core fans have been very supportive of the series, the efforts ultimately weren’t enough to save it. At today’s upfronts, FOX president Kevin Reilly confirmed that there wouldn’t be a third season of Sarah Connor. The studio had apparently been trying to shop the series to other outlets but those efforts were fruitless.

Will we ever get answers to the series’ open-ended questions? Doubtful. Though the Terminator saga will continue for a long time to come, it looks like this chapter is closed.

well here it goes again, another brilliant show cancelled… again. this is one of the reasons i stopped watching television, and spend my free time jumping around the internet. I was like ‘sweet, i love the terminator movies, and they came out with a series,’ so i hit it up on netflix. so now that i get done with the second season, i look up online when the third season starts, and it doesn’t. not only does it not start, the story is completely cut off, and they don’t tell us anything. I’m glad your FOX corporation employs people in all departments as blind as it’s idiotic news channel. GREAT POLLING YOU F_TARDS

Damn you FOX. How utterly stupid can you be to think that TERMINATOR SCC is not good enough. It has been here for years isn’t it?!!!! How could you cancel when everything is starting to get more addicting!!! I watched it over again on DVD and I can’t even leave my coach to eat because it is so addicting to watch!!!! You FOX people don’t know any better. The good shows are cancelled and the crappy shows stays. Whoever is deciding this should be FIRED!!!!!

I WAS TOTALY AND UTERLY DISAPOINTED WITH FOX’S DECISION TO PULL THE PLUG ON TERMINATOR S.C CHRONICLES. THE SHOW WAS EXTREMLEY INTERESTING TO THOSE OF US THAT HAVE MINDS THAT ARE NOT CLOSED OFF. FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT THINK THAT SOMETHING LIKE THAT CAN EVER HAPPEN IN OUR LIFETIME I CHALLENGE YOU TO TAKE A GOOD LOOK AROUND YOU AND THE PAST 20 YEARS EVENTS THAT HAVE OCCURED UP TO NOW.

Wow. This alongside Supermans Smallville was one of if not THE best show on T.v, seriously cant belive people weren’t watching it… it was like a Movie that continued each week. Theres something wrong with the picture if a program like Terminator isn’t getting views… more likely they had a clash with the film industry or something.

I just have to ask a really serious question at this point. What is FOX thinking… SCC has a fanbase that goes back to the original terminator movie back in 1984. I remember this well and it became a favorite just because it scared me to a point that I can never describe not to mention I did not sleep for a week… I was 12 years old and I was a fan of such scifi legends as star trek, star wars, 2001 and 2010, not to mention Saturn 3. What kind of corporate monsters would “KILL” a legacy. My son now 12 and worships the whole concept of robots and time travel. I can olny pray for a network to save this for future generations Dr. Who was revived and finally brought to a terminus after 30+ years thank higher powers and devoted fans for that. Please someone pick up SCC it deserves follow up and closure… many seasons from now.
