Terriers: FX TV Show Cancelled; No Season Two

TerriersThough many critics loved the FX series, Terriers just couldn’t attract enough viewers to stay alive. FX has announced the TV show has been officially cancelled.

Terriers follows a pair of unorthodox and unlicensed private detectives. They’ll take just about any job, no matter how small or how strange. The show stars Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James, Kimberly Quinn, Laura Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, and Jamie Denbo.

The series debuted to a 0.5 rating among the 18-49 demographic and 970,000 total viewers. When compared to other FX shows, that was a poor showing right from the start. The numbers went lower for subsequent episodes and the recent season finale attracted a 0.3 demo rating and 784,000 viewers.

FX President John Landgraf is expected to discuss the decision later today but ultimately the reason for the cancellation seems quite clear.

What do you think? Are you sorry that Terriers won’t be returning for a second season? Why didn’t it catch on? Was it simply a confusing title or something more?

Someone needs to pick this up! I agree…the marketing for a such a wonderful show was lacking especially for a show with such a nondescript title… Absolutely brilliant acting, wonderful characters and cleverly separate yet intertwining plot line. What a waste of a refreshingly clever series…

FX needs to play reruns of it And hype it up so people Realize what a good show it is. The only thing they did to advertise it had nothing to do with what the series was about. Big mistake. Let a great show with a great cast and great writers go to waste

Just watched it on Netflix. I was confused by the title for not sure what it was about. We watched the whole season 1 and loved it. Very disappointed that it is not coming back. Great story line, great realistic characters and great cast.

Very upset. We dont have cable we use netflix in our house for just about everything we watch. Loved the fact this was on netflix and were able to watch it. Terriers is an amazing show, shame on those who would make a first season and not make another one! Its like closing the rollercoaster in a park while you are halfway through the ride. Who would do that? Just saying…. make another season, it was awesome we would definately watch and buy the dvds.

I am totally bummed to see that the Terriers show has not gone on to another season. What a great ending season one had……that needed to continue to season two.

PLEASE BRING IT BACK!

I just got finished watching the entire first season of Terriers. I never knew anything about it when it originally aired. What a great series. Of course it got cancelled. The networks don’t know a good, creative series when they have. In stead of promoting a really good show, they just bring on more chunk. No wonder I rather watch Netflix than the stale garbage on the network channels. Fortunately TNT and USA put on some good original series. With the end of The Closer, (my all time favorite), it would be nice if they picked up Terriers.

It is such a shame that there won’t be a season 2. However, I don’t blame them either. I got into the show thanks to netflix… Not on the FX channel, lol.

The writing and acting was excellent. It seems like the writing across most networks has improved over the past several years and likewise, other great series have recently been dropped. The answer is to tailor the advertising to the better educated (with more disposable income) and get more bang for your advertising buck. If the masses enjoy watching crap then sale them crap; it would be nice though if someone took the high road and realized that discriminating viewers are also very discriminating in where they spend their money! Please bring back Terriers…Rubicon…Chase…etc. Thank you. D

So sorry to see there will not be another season. Spent two days watching the entire show. Shame on FX for cancelling. How can they leave such a great ending without starting another season? This show is so much better then many others put out by FX!

The cancellation provides a really good example of just how low the lowest common denominator in TV audiences goes. The irony is that Terriers presented us with real characters whose subtleties and quirks are just too much for people who know something has happened only if it has just hit them in the face. I just finished watching the series via streaming video and could not believe it was over. Don’t want to know what replaced it.
