The Astronaut Wives Club: New ABC TV Show Delayed

astronaut wives club husbandsIf you were anxiously waiting for The Astronaut Wives Club to premiere on ABC, you’ve got some more waiting ahead of you.

The new show was scheduled to start airing on July 24th. Now, Deadline reports that the network has changed their plans so the series won’t start airing until mid-season 2014-15.

Fake Empire, Groundswell Productions, and ABC Studios had been actively casting for the series, preparing to go into production soon. Now, production has been put on hold and the show is undergoing a “creative change.”

Based on Lily Koppel’s 2013 novel, The Astronaut Wives Club tells the true-life tale of the women who stood beside the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo astronauts during America’s space race.

ABC wants to now include people connected with the Gemini and Apollo missions as well. Because the series is based on real people, scripts will have to go through extensive clearances which will take more time.

The current cast includes JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Odette Annable, Erin Cummings, Zoe Boyle, Azure Parsons, and Desmond Harrington. The network has ordered 10 episodes.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to watching this show? Are you disappointed it’s not coming sooner?

I am looking forward to the series as my 8 yr old grandson has landed a small part in a swimming pool scene. Look out Hollywood Justice Smith is about to make his debut splash! Pardon the pun. I live in Vermont and he is in Mississippi, I miss him very much and I am excited that I may get to see him on TV!
