The Firm: To Be Cancelled on Saturdays Too?

The Firm canceledIf you need proof that The Firm is doomed to be cancelled by NBC, you just have to look at the show’s ratings. Not only did the new legal series bomb on Thursday nights but it’s currently being trounced on Saturday nights as well — airing opposite CSI: New York repeats, 20/20, and FOX’s forgotten Q’Viva! The Chosen reality series.

The ratings for The Firm have been so poor that one had to start wondering if NBC might bump the series off the Saturday schedule as well. Well, that’s what they’re doing — at least for one week.

This week’s episode of The Firm has been replaced by a rerun of the 90-minute premiere of Fashion Star (which debuts tonight). That will be followed by an encore of the first episode of Betty White’s Off Their Rockers, which first aired in January. Rockers returns to the NBC schedule on April 4th.

On March 24th, NBC has slotted an episode of the USA Network series Fairly Legal at 8pm, a slot that had been filled by reruns of Smash. The network hasn’t announced which episode of Fairly Legal will air but the season two opener (which will run this Friday on USA) seems likely.

The network is shaking up their Saturday night schedule and if they can come up with better numbers than what The Firm has been getting, the legal drama could easily be off the schedule for good. NBC has aired just 10 of the show’s 22 episodes thus far.

What do you think? Are you still watching NBC’s The Firm? Do you watch the episodes on Saturday nights, on demand or online? Would you be upset if NBC pulled it for good?

This is the only Saturday night show we watch. Stupid, stupid idea to cancel it. Not every show can be number one. Can’t a show just be entertaining?

DO NOT CANCEL THE FIRM!!!!!!!!! I watch it every Saturday night and, if I miss it for some reason, I stream it. It seems any time there is a terrific show, it is taken off. Get rid of some of the junk and put on something with substance – The Firm. The acting is wonderful and the story lines keep me on the edge of my seat.

This show is one of the few NBC shows I like and watch. Give this show a chance and definitely air the unaired episodes!

This is one of the best shows that emerged on TV in the last 5 years. There was not ample advertisement prior to the beginning of the show. I have tried to turn several people on to it but they are going to buy the series so they can watch from the beginning. This is one of those shows that you have to follow. I am a woman and not since Prison Break have we had such a captivating story line. Put it back on the air this summer starting at the beginning. Congrats to the writers (best show on TV).

SO typical, great show and not enough people watch it. Who are these folks that watch TV these days????? It’s like if it’s not a reality or contest show, it doesn’t make it. How sad, The Firm is great with some really good acting. SOME of us out here like dramas you know!!! Guess I’ll just read a book, NBC!

This is the only NBC show we watch. Wondered how the concept in the book could transfer to TV; the writers did it in great style. Usually, NBC airs “air” and not real entertainment: brainless comedy or poorly done political messages. THE FIRM has been edge of the seat excitement. Don’t cancel. . . bet the writers are able to WOW us next season as well.

‘The Firm’ is a good drama. The cast and director are talented. The ratings have suffered due to poor promotion and scheduling. The story-lines are sometimes slow to develop and the supporting actors are second tier. The show was not ready for Thursday night. Moving it to Saturday night was a poor idea (Saturday is not a ‘ratings’ night, even non-TV people now this). Please tighten up the storyline hooks and promote them with dramatic trailers, i.e., dramatic intensity and put the show on Tuesday night at 9 or 10pm. I would recommend having ‘Parenthood’ follow ‘The Voice’ and then ‘The Firm’. Ratings will improve over Saturday’s for sure. And you will steal away those CBS viewers who only need one episode of NCIS as well as couples who will prefer watching ‘The Firm’ together as opposed to defaulting to silly ‘chic’ comedies/dramas lined up on ABC and Fox. Saturday? Really?

Watch the firm faithfully
It keeps getting better every episode
The continuous twists and turns in the story line keep me interested.
However, some of the lines that the actors have to deliver are not exactly Emmy winning dialogue!
Some of the acting is not as good as I would like to see, however I see continuous improvement.
Hope they give it a chance as the story is interesting, I love Josh Lucas and it keeps getting better!

Soooooo disappointed you are canceling The Firm. It is my favorite show!!!!!!!! I can’t stand all the comedies on TV. I DVR every episode and sometimes watch it more than once! Grrr.

This show is one of my favorites. I purposely don’t have a TV service and watch this show religiously on Hulu!! the best. you should really look at what is being viewed on hulu next day to calculate your fan base.
