the forgotten: TV Show Cancelled, No Season Two

the forgottenAn ABC TV show, the forgotten follows the cases taken on by a group of talented civilians once the police hit a dead end. The series features the talents of Christian Slater, Michelle Borth, Heather Stephens, Bob Stephenson, Rochelle Aytes, Anthony Carrigan, Judith Hoag, Lily Rains, and Elisha Cuthbert.

The drama got off to an okay start last September with a 2.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.54 million viewers. The second installment’s ratings were far lower and then, the numbers got even worse. The first season of the forgotten ended up averaging only a 1.7 rating and 6.49 million viewers.

ABC had intended to air all 17 episodes but the programmers ultimately had to do some reshuffling of the schedule late in the season. Two installments didn’t air but, thankfully, the last produced episode did.

An ABC representative told us that the unaired episodes of the forgotten could still see the light of day before the end of summer. If not, they’ll pop up on the DVD set when or if that’s released.

To no surprise though, the forgotten won’t be back for season two. ABC has officially cancelled the series, the second one for Slater in two years.

What do you think? The people who watched, seemed to love this TV show. Why didn’t the forgotten catch on?

I can’t believe ABC. The Forgotten was groundbreaking good. I’m so SICK of all the mundane cop shows out there. This was different. ABC – bring it back!!!

It is decisions like this that confirm why ABC is consistently beaten by the other networks in the ratings. Instead of keeping good, quality shows like “The Forgotten” and promoting it, they don’t give it a chance to succeed. Instead they keep promoting idiotic shows like “The Bachelor”, “The Bachelorette”, “Wife Swap”, ‘Wipeout”, etc.

Not that this show was in the same category by any means, but networks seem to forget that past shows like “Cheers” and “Seinfeld” were not initially well-received, but given a chance they became landmark television shows. By their actions in recent years, ABC just doesn’t get it.

Unbelieveable, yet another GREAT show that ABC cancels! I guess they are really not interested in what the viewers enjoy watching, it’s all about the money to them. Its no surprise now that LOST has ended that I find myself watching anything BUT ABC.

Here’s the real question for the big brains at ABC;

Considering the number of shows that you peremptorily cancel year after year now; Why should I, or anyone else, invest anymore time on your network?

Fageddaboudit!

I can’t believe this show was cancelled. I loved it! It was a nice change to have an actual plot in a show that was NOT a reality program.

This was one of the best TV Shows i have seen in a very long time. I can’t believe they cancelled the series. I this was left alone to follow it’s own coarse it would have been a hit like CSI or even Seinfield. But i guess it’s all about the money for ABC tv.
