The Glades: Cancelled by A&E, No Season Five

The Glades canceledAs expected A&E has cancelled The Glades after four seasons on the air. There won’t be a fifth season or wedding for Jim (Matt Passmore) and Callie (Kiele Sanchez).

The dramedy began in July 2010 and it became their first scripted series to last more than a season. The cancellation comes days after The Glades’ fourth season finale attracted 3.41 million viewers. This was the show’s most-watched episode since the series premiere which drew 3.55 million.

Unfortunately, the fourth season as a whole was down by 14% year-to-year and The Glades was the cable channel’s lowest-rated scripted series. It didn’t help that the show was also produced by Fox, an outside studio, so A&E didn’t have a financial stake in the show’s future.

Of course, the real losers are the fans. The fourth season ended on a cliffhanger with Jim being shot in the chest by an unknown assailant. Hopefully the producers will find a way to give faithful viewers an idea of what might have happened in season five.

What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that The Glades has been cancelled? How would you have resolved the cliffhanger? Should Jim and Callie be together?

I can’t believe that they would cancel such a great show. I’m truly disappointed and to leave it as a cliff hanger was a bad call by the network.

I just read that “The Glades” series was cancelled. You can’t leave it like that. I hope another TV Station picks up the series. My husband and I liked watching The Glades. We’ll hate to lose it.

I am madder than hell that you have cancelled one of my favorite show, to leave us hanging on whom shot Jim & if he lives. This is Bull shit, I hope another channel picks them up, YOU HAVE STUPID REALITY SHOWS THAT EVERYONE HATES BUT A GOOD SHOW WITH A GOOD PLOT YOU GET RID OF, I THINK I NEED TO GET RID OF YOU. THAT WAS THE ONLY SHOW I WATCH FOR YOU CHANNEL.

Truly sad The Glades has been cancelled. Evidently A&E doesn’t care about their viewers. I’m going to boycott A&E until they return the Glades!!!

Now that we see how much a & e values its fans and canceling The Glades after leaving a cliffhanger like main the character being shot. There is alot of good televsion on and I am thrilled to BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT a & e. As citizens that are viewers and a very needed part of the networks … we should repay betrayal and stupidity in full … with NOT EVEN SWITCHING TO THE A & E CHANNEL WHATSOEVER. They (a & e) act like we are not even a part of the equation … that we don’t matter. So … JOIN ME AND LET THE BOYCOTT BEGIN… ( flat line ^v—————————————————————————————————————

I have not turned on A&E since I first found out they canceled “The Glades”. I’m no longer interested in what they broadcast since they no longer care about their viewers. I’ll never understand why they canceled….and what A&E thinks is a better replacement show. You have crossed the line….. Good Bye A&E.

I want it back on. I really enjoyed the banter between the actors.
It is fun without being stupid or too gory.
We need more shows like this one
Bring it back

I agree. Bring the show back. Excellent story line, characters , etc. I watched it faithfully from the beginning and then a&e left it with a sad ending. what were they thinking. It was one of the better sows airing on TV. shame on you a&e. I guess you really don’t care about your viewers.

Tell me no you didn’t cancel Longmire too. A&E really, you obviously are not thinking about the fans. Sure cancel the good shows that actually have a storyline and are worth watching and leave the reality shows full of violence and crazy people doing stupid things and lets not forget the single man or woman competing with each other to win the other desperate man or woman at the end. REALLY.

Why are the good shows always cancelled? And to leave us hanging is cruel! There is so much more that could be done with this show – it was funny, it had drama, it showed parenting, compromise, love, and had a great cast – it had a little bit of everything. Give it another chance!

I agree the glades is a great show and to leave the fans hanging is just wrong.
