The Glades: Cancelled by A&E, No Season Five

The Glades canceledAs expected A&E has cancelled The Glades after four seasons on the air. There won’t be a fifth season or wedding for Jim (Matt Passmore) and Callie (Kiele Sanchez).

The dramedy began in July 2010 and it became their first scripted series to last more than a season. The cancellation comes days after The Glades’ fourth season finale attracted 3.41 million viewers. This was the show’s most-watched episode since the series premiere which drew 3.55 million.

Unfortunately, the fourth season as a whole was down by 14% year-to-year and The Glades was the cable channel’s lowest-rated scripted series. It didn’t help that the show was also produced by Fox, an outside studio, so A&E didn’t have a financial stake in the show’s future.

Of course, the real losers are the fans. The fourth season ended on a cliffhanger with Jim being shot in the chest by an unknown assailant. Hopefully the producers will find a way to give faithful viewers an idea of what might have happened in season five.

What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that The Glades has been cancelled? How would you have resolved the cliffhanger? Should Jim and Callie be together?

The Glades was one of my favorite shows and I don’t have that many. Please don’t end it just move it to Fox.

I am really sorry that this show was cancelled. It was one of the better shows on TV. Also, I am real disappointed that it ended the way that it did. With all of the sci-fi and reality shows on now this was very refreshing, and real. Again, real disappointing!!!!

Why do they always take programs off that people enjoy watching? I really liked the Glades. They had a great cast. If the people at A&E knew that they were going to cancel, then they should have given the fans of the program what they were looking for . We have waited for Jim & Callie to have their happy ever after. Can’t you give us, the fans a better ending? As previous comments have stated, give us a couple of more episodes or even a 2 hr movie……….DON’T LEAVE US HANGING…..

The show had great chemistry. The writing could have been better but that is an easy fix. A&E really missed the boat on ending this show too soon.

I think it really sucks that A&E is canceling The Glades. I love that show. Give us a finale.

I have been a faithful watcher of THE GLADES since it started. I am in the medical field and enjoy the murder plots with the intermix of the Forensics. I was shocked at the final episode looking forward to the wedding only to see Jim get shot. Please give us a wrap up mini-season so we get to see what happened and to get Jim and Callie married. I hate getting involved in a series and then just left out to hang. A & E executives should have some compassion for their loyal fans and give us an ending. The Final episode had some good numbers! Relook at the numbers and re-fund the show. It was my only show that I watched on A & E.

I agree with the above comments. It is or was the only show I watched. I hate the other shows you have on they are stupid. Can’t we have something nie and clean to watch. I will not be watching A & E any more.
Bring back The Glades. My niece was in one of the first shows and they live in Belle Glade.

I give up on A&E. I have enjoyed The Glades since it came on & looked forward to it each summer. That was the only show I watched on A&E. You at least could have let them get married. Not good.

I think it really sucks that A&E is canceling The Glades. I love that show. No more A&E for me. See how that helps rating on other shows if everybody stops watching A&E!!!!!

I really can’t believe they’ve cancelled The Glades!! It’s a great show! Who do you count anyway? No one ever asked me….
I was introduced to it late, and now that I’m invested in the show you do this???? I don’t know where they get the figures for those watching, but no one has ever asked me or my friends. Everyone is sooo disappointed. Between Longmire and the Glades, it’s the only TV I like to watch! It would be great if some other channel picks it up…………..this really stinks!!!!!!

Are you freaking kidding me????? I will never watch an A&E show again. I loved this show. But to cancel a show AFTER the season ends, and give them no chance to wrap it up…I’m done with A&E.

I think it really sucks that A&E chose to cancel this show! I would think that 3.41 million viewers is ample enough to warrant a continuation. At the very least, I think the there should be a final episode or movie to close up the loose ends. It’s all about the $ anymore. I guess we’re all doomed to watch reality shows and prime-time cartoons instead of quality television. So sad!

Thanks for leaving us hanging. Have been talking with my wife and friend about the possible murderer. My wife says Callie’s ex but I don’t view him as violent and what does he gain. Great team up with the Longmire show It is getting so I don’t like to get invested and no conclusion. Could use a wrap up PLEASE!

It’s becoming a habit that good, quality shows are being cancelled, while trash shows are thriving! The Glades was a very entertaining show, had minimal violence and sex scenes, maybe that’s why it was cancelled. You leave all of us (fans) in limbo not knowing what happens! Can’t you at least have a few more shows that can tie up loose ends and then end it? Better yet, leave the show ON!
