What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the CBS television network, The Great Indoors features adventure reporter Jack Gordon (Joel McHale), who is reassigned to a stifling desk job, when founder Roland (Stephen Fry) converts the Outdoor Limits magazine to a web-only publication. Now the desk-bound boss of the digital department, the outdoorsy Jack is surrounded by Millennials, who mostly experience life via smartphone. Jack resolves to show these kids there is a big, wide world out there. The cast also includes Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Susannah Fielding, Chris Williams, Christine Ko, and Shaun Brown.
Season One Ratings
While we have no prior seasons with which to compare it, overall, The Great Indoors, season one, has performed solidly for CBS. Although advertisers prefer series which appeal to people in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic, The Tiffany Network’s viewers tend to skew older. The Great Indoors earns good numbers in the coveted demo — a factor strongly in favor of this show’s renewal. In terms of total audience size, The Great Indoors tends to land somewhere in the middle of the pack, when compared to other CBS TV shows. A real test would be to see how well it would perform without having The Big Bang Theory as a lead-in. Anyway, assuming the series maintains these numbers going forward, CBS looks likely to renew The Great Indoors for season two.
