Remember The Listener? Starring Craig Olejnik and Ennis Esmer, this is the show about a young paramedic who can hear people’s thoughts.
NBC picked up the sci-fi drama and started airing it back in June 2009. It wasn’t a success so they cancelled it. However, the series is a success for CTV in Canada and has been running there for four seasons. Last October, it was picked up for a fifth year.
In 2011, US cable channel ION purchased the rights to air the first two seasons of The Listener, with an option to purchase later seasons. They’ve now made a deal to co-produce season five and will air previous episodes as well. The newest installments are expected to be released later this year.

ION TELEVISION ENTERS INTO ORIGINAL CO-PRODUCTION DEAL ON TV DRAMA SERIES “THE LISTENER”
“The Listener” Will Launch Mid-Season as an Original Series on ION Television
WEST PALM BEACH, February 24, 2014 – ION Television today announced an agreement to produce new original episodes of the procedural drama “The Listener.” ION joins Shaftesbury, CTV and Fox International as co-producers on the drama, which started production on 13 new original episodes earlier this year. The agreement makes ION the exclusive original U.S. television network for current and future seasons of the series.
“‘The Listener’ fits seamlessly into our lineup of drama series, providing the reliable quality and originality our loyal audience and clients look for,” said Brandon Burgess, Chairman and CEO of ION Media Networks. “An equally important dimension is the collaboration with CTV and Shaftesbury, as we look for additional new original projects in this genre.”
“‘The Listener’ is an original blend of drama, investigation, action and humor.” said Christina Jennings, Chairman and CEO of Shaftesbury. “We’re thrilled to be able to introduce the series to viewers in the U.S. in partnership with ION.”
ION plans a 2014 mid-season launch for “The Listener,” joining its lineup of strong procedural dramas that have made it one of the few U.S. television networks showing season-to-date ratings growth.
“The Listener” joins ION’s portfolio of acclaimed dramas, including “Criminal Minds,” “Cold Case,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”, “Burn Notice,” “Psych” and “Leverage.” This announcement comes on the heels of ION’s recent acquisition of the high profile drama “Blue Bloods” from CBS, which will be joining the ION schedule this fall.
“The Listener” is the latest scripted ION Television original and joins the network following the success of the original series, “Flashpoint”, along with ION’s made-for-TV original movies.
Starring Craig Olejnik, “The Listener” centers on mind-reading police consultant Toby Logan, who uses his telepathic ability to help a special law enforcement unit solve the most complicated cases. Having kept his unique power hidden for years, Toby learns to harness his skill to help others and save lives. The series also stars Ennis Esmer as Oz Bey; Lauren Lee Smith as Sergeant Michelle McCluskey; Rainbow Sun Francks as Corporal Dev Clark; Peter Stebbings as Alvin Klein; Tara Spencer-Nairn as Sandy; and Mylène Dinh-Robic as Olivia Fawcett.
“The Listener” is produced by Shaftesbury in association with CTV and Fox International Channels, and is distributed by Shine International. The series was created by writer Michael Amo and is executive produced by Christina Jennings and Scott Garvie for Shaftesbury, Sharon Tal Yguado for Fox International Channels, and Peter Mohan, who serves as showrunner.

What do you think? Do you like The Listener series? Have you been watching on ION?
It is a great show bring it back for season 6
we did get ion tv but not now 10/14/20014 why.
I started watching the program a few months ago on ION on Sunday at 10 and 11 p.m. I fell in love with it!!! I keep looking for the next program but with the new season 2014, it isn’t on at the same day and time. Will ION be continuing to show the program? Please let us know if and, when. Thanks
Yes I enjoy watching the Listener and have been recording the episodes to watch. They were coming along in order then all of a sudden went from Season 1 ep. 11 to season 2 ep. 1. I just checked and see that it skipped a couple of shows but am glad that it is going to show the rest of the seasons soon
I agree. We enjoy the show on ION but ? what happen to Charlie ? Did like the dark hair detective better than blonde.
sorry guy the show has been cancel. That Sucks
On August 8, 2014, CTV announced that they had cancelled the show with the series finale airing August 18th, 2014
Why did ION skip the last two episodes of “The Listener” season 1 where Charlie apparently was murdered? When they began airing this program, they played the first two episodes of season 2 then skipped to season 3 and played the whole season. After season 3 they again skipped and went to the beginning of season 1. I don’t understand ION’s scheduling thus muddling up the ongoing plotline.
Love this show.
It has such great characters & the dialogue flows like like something normal.
So good!
Really want more seasons.
This is my favorite show on ION TV. Some day looking forward to buying all seasons in the US
I haven’t been able to watch it on ION due to my work schedule. Have to but each one as they air. You know, The expensive way. Lol
love the show! one of my favourites
We are in Montana in the U S. We just heard of The Listener this year. We watch it on the ION Television Network, we love the show and hope that ION keeps it airing.
Season one was so much fun. The characters were interesting and the female cop Charlie and her boss were credible. The therapist was cool. The main character Toby was haunted and flawed and very believable.
After season one the show became boring and the new cop actors were awful. The main character lost his appeal. Too bad.
My husband & i really enjoyed the show in 2009. I would also like to know where i could get all seasons to watch for free
try searching torrent in goOgle.
You can watch all aired episodes for free in this website:

Have really enjoyed the series, though I have missed that they didn’t carry on the story from season 1, eg looking for his mother and brother, finding out about his past and his abilities, why! are there people after him etc Craig has mention that season 5 will be his last season, I wonder if he was offered more money would he stay on. If he doesn’t, will it stop at 5 or let it carry on for more seasons and maybe somehow write that his brother has surfaced and has the same abilities as Toby and then he becomes… Read more »
I watched it for the first time today. I would like to be able to see the episodes prior in season 1. This one was from 2011.
Where can I watch full episodes online- preferably free?
Didn’t think much of the show back in 2009.
