CBS continues to look for new hit sitcoms. Last year’s The Crazy Ones, Bad Teacher, We Are Men, and Friends With Better Lives were all cancelled while Mom and The Millers survived. How will The McCarthys stack up in the ratings? Will it be cancelled too or renewed for a second season? We’ll have to wait and see.
The McCarthys revolves around sports-crazed family from Boston. Athletically-challenged and gay son Ronny (Tyler Ritter) plans to finally move away to start his own life. Those plans are thrown into turmoil when his basketball coach dad (Jack McGee) offers him a job as assistant coach — much to the dismay of Ronny’s siblings. The sitcom also stars Laurie Metcalf, Jimmy Dunn, Joey McIntyre, and Kelen Coleman.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: CBS has cancelled The McCarthys, leaving four episodes unaired.
Final season averages: 1.18 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.46 million total viewers.

Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The McCarthys TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a second season?
Move to a time slot for more exposure. Best sitcom ever
Funny show ever, so why cancel. Give it an early time slot plus rerun the episodes at different times. This is what other networks do. this is one of the best whole some sitcoms on TV. The cast is great.
I absolutely agree. It needs an earlier time slot. Funniest show ever
Totally agree
This is one of the best new shows– great cast, amazingly funny writing. Please keep it going!
The McCarthys is so well written and funny. We actually laugh out loud at the banter.
LOVE this show. Give it a chance. It appeals to the teens as well as adults in the family. great way to keep people on CBS and off cable. It is refreshing to watch a comedy devoid of sexual inuendos and be entertained for the whole show. DON’T CANCEL, please!!!!!
My whole family loves this show, please dont cancel!

I love the McCarthy’s. It is very, very funny. I hope they renew it because there are shows that are on since last year that I think suck, but McCarthy’s is a great show & should not be cancelled.
Best sitcom ever. Keep it on and air in a better time slot for more exposure
Best show in a long time!!!cast is truly funny!! Great scripts!
Love this show. The cast is fantastic and I laugh out loud every week. I really like it a lot…generally I don’t watch sitcoms…I watch Modern Family and Big Bang…and now McCarthy’s. Cause it’s hilarious! If it IS cancelled, it’s because it’s not filthy enough for America to watch.
Very funny and a fantastic, talented cast. Best comedy on TV right now. Move it to a better time slot but keep it on!
I love the McCarthy’s. Best show ever. Try an earlier time slot
Please stop canceling good shows. We really enjoy this show and would like for it to continue.
