Oprah Winfrey’s favorite interior designer, Nate Berkus, will soon be available for other projects. His daytime talk series, The Nate Berkus Show, has been cancelled after two seasons on the air.
The decorating series — often referred to as The Nate Show — debuted September 13, 2010 in syndication. Despite having a loyal following, the Berkus show didn’t catch on with a big enough audience. It’s been averaging about 1.4 million viewers this season. New episodes will continue to be produced and air until the end of this season but there won’t be a third.
In a join statement, Sony Pictures Television and Harpo Studios said, “After careful consideration, we have decided that The Nate Berkus Show will not return for a third season in the fall… We are grateful for the hard work and heart that Nate, [executive producer] Corin Nelson and their entire team have poured into the show, and we’re very proud of what they’ve delivered.”
Berkus said, “I’m incredibly proud of my hard working and talented staff, and proud of the show we were able to produce every day.”
The cancellation doesn’t come as a big surprise, especially given the ratings and the show’s expense. The peacock network initially signed a three year deal with Sony for the Berkus Show but recently made deals for new daytime talk shows from Steve Harvey and Jeff Probst. Given the limited number of daytime time slots, that move didn’t seem to leave any room for The Nate Berkus Show.
In some markets, Berkus filled the timeslot left vacant by The Bonnie Hunt Show, a program that was also dropped after two seasons in 2010.
What do you think? Will you miss Nate Berkus’ program? Should it continue on Winfrey’s OWN network?

He had it all. Great decorating tips, and diy segments. I loved Mr. Goodwill Hunting. Nate is one of a kind. He is a generous host and always was kind to his guests. The segments about clothes and cooking were equally good. i had the great privilege to be able to attend two tapings of the Nate Show. I agree with the other comments Jeff Probst? Are you kidding? Cancelling Nate was a big mistake.
I really enjoyed The Nate Berkus Show. I looked forward to the show each afternoon because of the variety of topics and the guests Nate had on the show. Nate seemed to really enjoy what he was doing and the people he had on the show whether it was on stage or in the audience. Nate is a very talented and gifted person and I know God has great plans for him. He will be missed on television but I hope to see him on another show in the very near future.
I LOVE the Nate Show…it had the perfect mix of topics! I love his personality and the fact that he loved thrifting and vintage items. I think it is even better than most of the shows on HGTV (these days). I can’t believe the networks would give Bethany and Jeff Probst a show….Really??? If any of the network execs had brains .. Oprah or HGTV than I think they should pick the show up! I used to watch HGTV all of the time like 8-10 years ago because they had makeover shows that were on a budget. Now most of it is real estate shows and the like.
All the enjoyable shows are being cancelled and replace with a host of boring and similar talk shows. Nate provided us with hints for interior design, fashion, makeovers (home and self) and food as well as much more. His show will sorely be missed!

I and so many of my friends love “The Nate Berkus Show”. Many times we use DVR and watch over the weekend. Perhaps there is a place for his show on HGTV. Oprah has made some very strange decisions and programming choices.
You put Bettany on. That is really an awful show. Bring Nate back. He was so good and I enjoyed him so much.
I refuge to watch Bettany.
Oprah needs to pick op the Nate show it is the best. Given how sily many daytime and evening programs are how could this great shoe be canceled. Oprah help pick up nate
I really hate to hear The Nate Berkus Show has been cancelled. I will honestly miss his show. House proud was my favorite part of the show.
Good Luck Nate… I truly hope another network picks up your show.
OPRAH SHOULD DEFINITELY PICK UP THE NATE SHOW. IT IS A ONE OF A KIND SHOW AND FEATURES MAN THINGS THAT CANNOT BE SEEN ON ANY OTHER PROGRAM. NATE ALSO HAS THE PERSONALITY TO CARRY THE SHOW.
Everyone I know watches Nate. I can’t believe he was cancelled. Even if people at work in the Chicago area aren’t watching at 2:00, they TiVo it and watch it later. He is the best and I love his practical advice. He can’t be replaced. I hope someone else picks his show up. He is too good to let go.
I wish this show was having a second season. So who did she pick???
Will miss the Nate show terribly. Think he does a super job.0
I will greatly miss the Nate Show! There is nothing to compare to it on regular tv. I don’t have cable and must watch public tv to get sometime close to the quality of the show. He will be MISSED! When will the nework get it right, we’re tired of the same old talk shows, there is nothing new or different on daytime tv.
I love this show & am heartbroken the it’s going off the air. I tape it if I can’t be home to see it. I definitely think OWN should pick it up.
Love you Nate!!

My sisters and I all watch the show. If I can’t for one reason or another, I tape it,.

I need my Nate fix,
