The New Normal: Season One Ratings

the new normal TV show ratingsBefore it even premiered, The New Normal was “cancelled” by an affiliate station in Utah. NBC is hoping that some of the “controversy” surrounding this show will draw big ratings week after week.

Revolving around a gay couple and their surrogate, The New Normal features the talents of Andrew Rannells, Justin Bartha, Georgia King, Ellen Barkin, NeNe Leakes, Bebe Wood, and Jayson Blair.

These are the TV show’s ratings for the 2012-13 season, the best way to tell if The New Normal is going to be cancelled or renewed for a second season. The show typically airs on Tuesday nights and NBC has ordered 13 22 episodes.

These figures will be updated as the weeks progress so be sure to bookmark and return to this page:

The “special preview” of The New Normal had an okay start in the ratings. It won its timeslot but lost 40% of its lead-in audience. The numbers may have been negatively impacted by the fact that NBC released the pilot online weeks ago and they added this preview to the schedule just last week. Those who read TV Guide were expecting to see a new episode of Grimm.

On the plus side, NBC was up by 56% when compared to the 2011 timeslot occupant, the Miss Universe Pageant. Ultimately, the sitcom’s fate will become more clear as the weeks progress. The only thing we know right now is that it’s not a big hit or a big flop right out of the gate.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

the best actor on television is andrew rannells! the best actress is ellen barkin! nbc needs to stand by them! the new normal is the no. 1 show on t.v. now!

  2. Jaime says

I absolutely love this show! I love every character, even Jane who I want to strangle half the time. Love the ties forming between this family unit, especially Bryan and Shania who are so cute when they’re having their “serious” conversations. I can’t stand many of the TV shows anymore and Reality TV is a complete waste of time, but I look forward to this show every week and I would hate to see it get cancelled.

  3. Haters! says

Everyone saying its not funny, and it is a stupid show and a waste of space: you’re probably just homophobic and cant stand the thought of this being on television. GET OVER YOURSELVES!

please, please, please somebody, please cancel this horrendous show. it makes bigoted people feel better about having their neanderthal views about gays, esp. and all others. this show is trying too, too hard to be a modern family meets will and grace but it fails so miserably that it is EMVARRASSING. somebody, please cancel it NOW!!!!!

i agree with bringing back the situation comedies that ruled the 70’s and 80’s. i am so sick of all these reality shows like the karsluttians, idol and the like. put them all on one channel so who ever wants to watch them can and bring back some good comedies and night time soaps that had us waiting each week for the next…dynasty remake anyone?

  5. ethel says

this is the greatest show since all in the family. ellen barkin states her insults with no effort at all. it is funny and controversial and in these times it is a great way to laugh the problems away.

  6. Craig Hebert says

    Racy,rude,blunt,damn insulting,thought provoking,stereotypically correct,homoerotic,
    I loves it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Steven says

Awful. This is far from “normal”. The whole show is a complete joke, waste of time. NBC just can’t seem to catch a break.
