I really enjoyed this show, it has a great cast & I am a great fan of James Purefoy. I’ve seen several of his movies. The storylines are great and I agree with Trucker about these stupid reality shows, I have had enough of reality in my own life (cancer, death of family members, medical problems, loss of job and trying to survive). The only thing these reality shows bring out are the worst in people, (cheating, lying,stealing, fighting ) it is really sad that this is what our world is coming to.

As far as checking by age I am 60 & watch all types of shows I have eclectic taste in films & life, so maybe the networks shoul give some of these shows a chance.

I don’t get! Good shows get cancelled for reality crap. The Philanthropist was great… Kings, Heroes… Cancelled and for what Shows that have no strength, no story, no susbtance. Look I am tired of getting into a series just to find out it is no coming back. And I have many friends who feel the same way. Its not just NBC doing it I mean I have found shows on many channels that once i got friends to start watching and liking them, POOF! gone! I am still fuming from Jericho, Dollhouse, and Terminator. I know I know Sci-fi not a lot of fans out there but answer me this. Would you rather have shows with a story or this fake reality crap and all these IDOL wannabe shows on every channel? Please People tell the networks enough!!!!

I can see how the show weighed down NBCs budget but they should have definitively kept this show around. Probably one of the most original shows released in a while, great cast, great storyline, great everything. I don’t live in the US so I don’t know how advertised is was there. But here there was no advertisement what so ever and maybe NBC should have tried to expose the show more to the public, including international viewers which I can guarantee you is where this show would have caught on fire like black powder!

Haiti, Chile and all around the world, the story lines are just waiting to take flight. NBC is a short sighted reality crazy network. Southland found a home, so did L&O Criminal Intent on USA. The show as not marketed well or hardly at all, but look at the huge fan base it gained even without its’ network giving it a fair shake. We need an entertaining but uplifting and informative program to enjoy. Sounds like our “Teddy” is ready to give it a go. Lets brng this show back

We’re trying to gather enough fans of the show together so we can approach the producers and encourage them to shop the show around to other networks where it will be given a fair shake. It worked for Southland which, after a year of cancellation, was given new life on TNT.

It’s obvious that NBC is not the place for this type of show. Even lead actor James Purefoy knew what the problem was: “I think ‘The Philanthropist’ had potential if NBC had the nerve to continue and marketed it properly, which [NBC] never did.”

NBC has to keep the Philanthropist going. This was one of the best shows on TV–PERIOD. There was nothing else like it. From a business standpoint NBC can’t afford to let go of this site. They made a gamble with Leno and that turned out to be a loss. This show will be it’s only saving grace. It captures that drama audience–those of us who can’t get enough Law & Order, House, the Good Wife or the Mentalist, yet it gives us something different. With all the turmoil in the world, I tuned in because I learned something new about the often complex issues. We can’t afford to be naive about global challenges, and the Philanthropist offered substance, entertainment, and a fascinating human element that is undoubtedly refreshing. NBC has a gem. Why would NBC debut a show in the summer? I have no clue who is making these decisions for NBC. I can guarantee that with the right marketing and a great time slot in the Fall line up, this WILL be a hit. NBC should definitely hang on to this amazing show.

NBC you really have a truly substantive show. I absolutely enjoyed watching the series it made you think.
Your demographics weren’t all that they should have been because you lost your audience by 1) moving the days and time slots; 2) it was a summer series and really is a series that belongs in the fall; 3) you did not know how to position it in the line up.
The PHILANTHROPIST deserves a 9pm or 10pm timeslot. On a Tues or Wednesday. Once the show gets a solid audience this show could easily go head to head with CBS’s the MENTALIST.

The writing, the cast, directing every aspect of this program was excellent! Please bring this show back. I enjoyed this program! Please bring the show back.

Keep the show! Yeah, my guess is no one will read this, but I thought I’d post anyhow in the rare chance that some network exec really cares about posts.

Anyhow, I’m glad to finally see a show that actually portrays true reality TV… **** happens all over the world and we (Americas) live in our little bubbles. I’m glad there’s a show that has my friends asking “really, is that really happening out there???”

The Philanthropist: Is one of the best , former, shows on TV. Lets face it. NO ONE from the networks is reading what we are saying out here. How many postings does there need to be with the viewers opinions, talking about the shows we love, before NBC sees the solution to the ” extra ” 5 hours of prime time they have? Bring back this popular and timely relevant show. Bring back another popular show, Merlin. Two nights are covered. . Make the fans happy and show that NBC listens to what teh people actually want to watch. We can only hope so.

As “proof” that this interest in practical philanthropy is growing, please note that recently a popular book was published called “HOW TO BECOME AN EVERYDAY PHILANTHROPIST”. This is a well-researched book, but as interest takes hold, it is probable that more and better written ones on this subject will soon follow by other authors.

Again, an interest trend is forming, led by some pretty high-profile people.

Someone at NBC had better take another look at this one, and bring it back, if for no other reason than that interest in practical philanthropy is now becoming a trend, led by Bill Gates himself. Other networks will capitalize on this growing interest and take the lead if NBC “drops the ball” on this one.

I also would love to see this show back on the air. It kept me on the edge of my seat whenever I watched it. It was exciting as well as educational with a different take on the life styles of the rich and famous. Flipping through the channels, I stumbled on the show one night, I couldn’t stop watching it and made a point of watching it every week since. It was a great show.

This show exposed the world fer what it is, and it gave logical suggestions on reversing problems. It’s a great eye-opener and I can’t blame this on it being a bad show, there are just a lot of bad viewers. The only episode that was a little iffy fer me was when Teddy went to France, but I mean, it was still good.

It’s a fresh show, but as far as it goes people want the thought invoking CSIs and seem to love their scientific inaccuracies. Anyways I’m all fer this show, it made tv enjoyable.

I would also like to show my support for this show. I think it is a great example of how a show can also show corporate responsibility in helping the future for everyone improve. It makes me wonder why there hasn’t been a show like this before. I will truly miss it if it is gone for good. NBC’s programing in my opinion isn’t what it used to be but after finding out about this show on Hulu, I can say I’d happily give up other shows that I watch to watch this one. That’s just my two cents but as you can see I’m not the only one who feels this way.

77% voted not to cancel…so what is wrong with NBC? I love The Philanthropist. The writing, directing, and acting on all parts is wonderful, exciting and thought provoking. NBC has also cancelled Southland. Last year ABC was cancelling great shows too and people must have quit watching as this year they are putting some decent shows on. So far they are not cancelling the ones I like and have only gotten ride of Defying Gravity. So is NBC pulling the same crap that ABC pulled last year? I am really sorry to see The Philanthropist go. It was a great show.

The Philanthropist is a real life show about someone that uses their money for something good. and to see that teddy goes without consent from the company to help these people is a good change in tv

The messages were loud and clear, the global concerns were accurately portrayed, the cinematography was magnificent, acting truly believable, the star was handsome and desirable. I aligned myself with global outreach concerns after watching two episodes yet I went on to watch them all and tell everyone about the show. This is what the WORLD needs! It’s difficult to air a show in the summer when everyone is out, if you had aired in the fall it would have been the home-run of all time. I think they should extend the show, even it’s only for educational purposes. We are all so wrapped up with the war on terrorism, with the bombings and shooting of troops ins Iraq and Afghanistan, that we forget there are a lot more hot spots. I’m not saying to lessen the efforts on bringing down those weirdos, but we shouldn’t forget about the other places either. This series is one way to do it. That’s why I say: Keep it on!

I don’t normally watch anything other than the Home improvement shows on HGTV. The reality shows that are on all the major stations, CBS, NBC and ABC are much more than I can stomache and the news is always depressing. So when I accidentally came across The Philanthropist, I was intrigued. For this show to take me away from viewing all the shows that most interested me, says alot. James Purefoy is easy on the eyes plus the scenery of all the different locations was beautiful. I like the chemistry between all the characters. I would hate to see this show cancelled!!!

Ordinarily I let the chips fall where they may when it comes to the fate of a pilot TV shows… but after seeing what the grassroots campaign did for our President, I decided to be like Teddy Rist and prove that one person can make a difference. Over the years NBC has had some good programming but they and the other networks have become lazy and let reality shows take over because they are so cheap to produce. You need to know that there is a HUGE audience (with wallets full of cash that could be spent of products that associate themselves with this show) that is completely underserved with the current line up of network shows.
Face it – there is a lot of shows on TV that could and should be cancelled, don’t let the Philantropist be one of them! SAVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would be horrible if the show was cancelled. It’s a great show. besides, I wasn’t TUNING in on T.V. because I don’t own one – I was watching the show on ITUNES, by buying each episode… I’m sure there are countless others that do the same – do those “stats” not count in viewer ratings? KEEP THE SHOW. It’s insightful and I just looked forward to my Thursday nights (itunes shows teh show the day after)… and now, there’s nothing to watch. Please please bring it back.

Please DO NOT cancel this show. All my friends and family are hoping that for ONCE a network thinks of the “reality tv, medical drama, crime drama, talk-show challenged” audiences that seem to have been forgotten by the networks.
The Philantropist gave us someting to look forward to.

I was outraged over the idea that such series “might” be canceled. Such items should be left on air and spoon fed to ppl for the morals they carry. The viewers have to learn that somethings are much better and more beneficial than doctors and comedy.

PLEASE save this series!!
