The Shield: A Spin-off for the FX Series?

Jay Karnes Detective Holland 'Dutch' Wagenbach in FX's The ShieldThough it’s not scheduled to happen for quite awhile, devoted fans of The Shield are having a hard time dealing with the notion that the Michael Chiklis series will be ending. As mentioned here back in June, Vic Mackey and company are scheduled to leave the airwaves after 88 episodes in 2008. Well, maybe not all of the cast are leaving…

Jay Karnes, who plays the moral yet troubled Detective Holland “Dutch” Wagenbach on The Shield, has said that a spin-off for his character has been discussed. Jay told the News Sentinel’s Terry Morrow, “Scott Rosenbaum, one of our writer/producers, actually wants to do it. I don’t know (if I want to do it). I guess if they throw enough money at me. It’s a little on the nose. It’s kind of Beverly Hills Buntz for The Shield. That’s why I find it amusing. I’m not sure it would be something that America would tune in for.” Jay didn’t mention if any other Shield characters (like Dutch’s friend and partner Claudette Wyms, played by CCH Pounder) had also been considered.

Though it seems like a longshot at best, stranger things have happened in the world of television. Who would have guessed Ed Asner’s Mary Tyler Moore Show character could make the transition from the sitcom world to the dramatic series Lou Grant? Could a character from the extreme Shield series go the other way? Stay tuned! TV Series Finale home page

Instead of making the shield into a movie just contiune the show, but with a new story. New story-line, new characters, new ways of police corruption, new schemes. Which also this should contiune over at the eastcoast more like in Miami, flordia; therefore giving the show a new name: `The Shield: Miami`

More than likely Vic didn’t change, he picked back up his gun to get some leverage to be back on the street. It will most likely work. And he will out of the office in a day or 2. Nothing changed…

Ronnie was arrested, but thats different from being convicted. More than likely, If he is not set free, he will probably do 3-5 years in jail, after a plea. Seeing as He is on Trial, and not Vic. Plus, there is no evidence to support Vic’s confession, which may or may not be held in court, if Ronnie has a good defense attorney.

Shane killed his family, because of what VIc told him…Vic said that when Shane and Mara are in jail, he will visit his kids to tell them stories. Shane replied back you will never see them.

Who else here is keepin’ their finger’s crossed for a Vic Mackey spin-off?

I would love to see the story unfold from say Vic’ s rise from the academy to how he ended up on the wrong side of the Thin Blue Line.

At the very lest an FX movie or mini-series on the subject.

Long live Vic Mackey! The lyin’, murderin’, SOB!
